  1. We just got off today. And the room steward just made the sofa into a bed each night, and rolled up the blankets in the AM. We put the back cushions on the floor in case she rolled off, which she did the first night. She didn't roll after that. We also put the other cushions down as well.

And yes, the cushions were velcroed onto the wall.

  2. No, cb is not giving you accurate information about the sofabeds on Anthem. The sofabeds on Anthem are not like the older ships. The back bolster is velcroed onto the sofa and when opened as a sofabed, a trundle type bed pulls out from under and then comes up to the same height as the rest of the sofa.

To answer the OP too, I would think the back bolster could be taken off and then have the sofa made up as a single bed. To handle the rolling toddler, I would have the bed made up as a single, but ask for a rolled blanket or towels to be put under the bottom sheet to create a bumper to keep the toddler in. The vanity also has a low backed chair that you could move over to act as an additional barrier to keep the little one from rolling out.

Talk to the cabin steward, they deal with little kids all the time and will know all the tricks to make it work.

I like the idea of a rolled up blanket underneath. She has a guard rail on her bed but doesn't really sleep near the edge. I might also put down pillows underneath. Honestly, she probably will climb into bed with us. But I like the options. Thank you so much for this information!! I'm grateful for the family boards cause you all get cruising with children! ;p

  3. We cruised with my DD when she was 16 mos on Carnival Pride. We got an umbrella stroller, that made it easier to fold and store. Even in the dining room. She was too young for their kids club, so at least with RCL you get that option. We made sure she kept her nap schedule, my DH was more than willing to snooze with her while I either went to the pool or casino. My DD was not bothered by not being in a pool, she was more than happy with the beach. We brought a little float that folded as well as bucket because of the ports we went to. It worked out. We brought a lil dish soap and sponge to clean her sippy cups. And lots of diapers/wipes. We did bring the veggie squeeze packs but she really didn't need it, tons of food options. And we went to all the live bands and sat outside to listen and she loved that. (again carnival not RCL) Crew loved her. We found that it made life easier to have a set time instead of my dining. Having a consistent dining staff was great. And above all, be flexible. There was a lot less drinking and we didn't stay out nearly as late as our honeymoon.

We are taking another cruise on Anthem of the Seas in March 2018. She will be 3 at that point. It's going to be interesting to see if she is okay with the kids club.

    Have fun!!

  4. We did the Pride with DD who was 16 mos at the time. We did early dining since 6pm fit her dinner time to keep with her schedule. The wait staff was amazing with her, even had fruit and a cup for her ready at all times. It helped that my husband loved to nap, so they would nap together in the afternoon. And she loved the music and was great in her stroller, i had an umbrella stroller. We went to Half Moon Cay, Freeport and Grand Turk. GT and HMC was perfect for her. Beach was so close and easy, and we splurged on the cabanas. It was awesome cause it was enough shade for her and DH.

We are doing the Anthem next March and I'm trying to figure out the kids club, cause I'm not sure if she will be potty trained (I know it's 11 mos away) for the 3+ club.

  5. Lol! I think I get the itch to book a new one as soon as I'm off a cruise!

LOL agreed! But I now I can afford it, where as this past January we couldn't. So it makes it that much more real. I need a new countdown. :) I just don't know which ship. Possibly Glory. I'm liking the Eastern itineraries. The repo sounds amazing, but 12 days is too long to take off of work. I just did that for my honeymoon. I think my staff would kill me if I took off 2 weeks again.

  6. Woot! That's exciting! I'm getting the bug right now. I get an extra check (no rent or bills for that one) and I'm thinking of putting a deposit on a cruise. My husband wanted to go to Canada, but he is still in school, so I'm thinking January 2015. I was just telling my mom, I'm ready to go again. She knows, once I get that itch, I will have a cruise booked within two weeks. :D;)

I'm over the moon right now! Hubby agreed to the Freedom repo Feb. 2-14, 2015. :D We booked an interior with walkway view room and I'm hoping that my choice has a couch! If not, no biggie. I mean, I'd sleep in the crew quarters if I had to! Excited about St. Lucia and DH has been dying to go to Aruba. And 12 days! Wow! Okay, just had to share in my excitement! Now I gotta get back to work to start paying for it!
  7. We are on Freedom in 30 days. looking forward to your review. I figured it would show some wear knowing its going to drydock. But we got a great deal on this so no worries. Also don't like the upper deck balconies. They say that is an upgrade but I prefer deck 6 & 7. Quiet and private. 8 gets all the noise from the lido.

We were 8259 - by the elevators but under rooms. It was mainly quiet. At times you could hear some of the music from the lobby, if you are a light sleeper it would be annoying. Otherwise it was very convenient - one deck below the lido and the forward elevators which gets you to the Chic dining room (YTD).

  8. I was on this cruise! The FTTF was the best thing we bought as well. It helped with getting on the ship really quickly. It's funny how each person cruise could be different. I didn't do the deli or pizza. I don't like how there is only one person on for pizza and honestly, we rarely made it back to the aft pool, so we always forgot about the pizza. We were always at the grill for hamburgers.

I don't want to hijack! Can't wait to relive this cruise. Thanks for writing a review :D

  9. I got that amazing bathing suit from Walmart believe it or not. I ordered it online and the size was perfect. It is made by Catalina and if you google catalina and slimming bathing suit you should see it. I bought it last year but this year they added a few new designs. They had one with cherries and ones with anchors! I really need to get another one. Most "pin up girl" style bathing suits are very expensive but this one was right around $40.00 I think.

Thanks!! Never thought to look on their website for off season bathing suit! I have a top from there that I love. I missed the clearance sales for bathing suits, too busy with my wedding planning!

Best way to get through not having a time clock is to book a cruise. My family thinks I'm crazy cause I'm trying to plan another one even though I haven't left on this one yet.

  10. I just had to say thanks for the great read! I'm not even going on this ship or this itinerary. I loved your Valor review when I was trying to decide what to do for our honeymoon. At the end of the day the husband wanted sea days so we had to compromise. We are going on the Freedom, 6 days in January for our honeymoon. :D

Also, today I started shopping for my cruise clothes, checking out the clearance ranks. I got a cute dress, nine west, from Boscovs for 10 bucks. And it has pockets! That's my 2nd elegant night dress. Now to find a sparkly one for the first elegant night.
