  1. We were on Enchanted in February, and loved listening to jazz in Take Five. In spite of the proximity to the casino it was not at all smoky. Just a chill place to listen to good music and have a cocktail. I am very disappointed to hear any of this news. It’s obviously all about money.

  2. I am on a very low sodium diet due not to heart issues, but to Meniere's disease of the ear. We recently went on the Celebrity Summit and I was very concerned about how my low sodium needs would be managed in the MDR. I needn't have worried. It was excellent. When we got on board, we went immediately to the MDR and spoke to the Maitre d. I told them I needed my meals prepared without salt. They entered this into the computer. We did not have a set table but sat with different people every night. When seated, I would tell the waiter that I had a salt-free meal. After the first night, I was given the menu for the next day at the end of each dinner. Most of the items on the menu could be adapted to the salt free diet, and the waiter would also make suggestions. Every meal I had was good. Celebrity has a separate kitchen and designated staff for the special meals. They get high marks for how they handled my request.

Since this was only for dinner, I still had to contend with breakfast and lunch in the buffet - much more challenging. I pretty much know what I can eat overall, and I was a bit more liberal than at dinner, but still very careful. There were eggs, fruit, and plenty of other fresh items. For lunch, there was always a salad bar, which did get boring after a while, until I discovered the panini bar. Wouldn't think that would work, would you? It turned out that at the panini bar, you could also have fresh steak, chicken, pork, and salmon, all cooked to order. There was also a pizza bar, and one day I splurged, and had them make me a plain pizza with veggies only, and some olive oil. No cheese or tomato sauce. The dough itself has plenty of salt. I ate two very small pieces and was satisfied.

I cannot speak about other cruise lines, but Celebrity did this very well.

  3. It’s absolutely amazing how these stories get started. If you do any fact checking at all you can see the Summit is available for Bermuda cruises through September 2019, then other cruises beyond that. Fake news !

The Summit is going into dry dock for five weeks in February and March, and is being completely remodeled. We were just on the ship last week.
