    ABOUT YOUR UPCOMING TRAVELS

    Dear Guest,

It’s no secret that the world is going through a difficult time. And while there are many changes going on around us, one that will never change is our commitment to remain transparent and as communicative, as possible.

As we went into our global suspension of sailings, we initially estimated that refunds would take 30 days. Unfortunately, with an unprecedented volume of refunds and credits, we are delayed. We’ve worked diligently to resolve most of the volume issues and are working around the clock to address the backlog to get you your refund, as quickly possible. Currently, some refunds are taking up to 45 days. Please know that each and every request is receiving the same level of care and dedication. And rest assured, your refund will be honored and it is coming – it’s just taking a little longer than expected and we’re very sorry about that.

We thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. We’ll have an update for you by May 6th, unless we see that your refund has already been disbursed between now and then. Please be sure to check with your banking institution for an update if you don’t hear from us. Please stay safe!

    Sincerely,

You are welcome everyone and I am happy I started thread. Rach of you has to decide on your own especially for overseas travel.

As part of my credit I got my deposit back and port fees too.

RCI is treating cancels using penalty schedule and calculation is based on credits and FCC. No need to worry if you did not have insurance. But if you bought it, you do lose it.

Please everyone when you do call, KEEP YOUR COOL and speak nicely.

The lady I had was very emotional telling  me I was the first calm and pleasant person she had in several hours. She mention the anger is hard on the agents who are trying to help.

They are stressed and so be gentle and DO THE MATH yourself before you call and as a reminder, GET THE CANCEL number.

Me thinks cruises will book up for later in year and next year. So be on the alert and keep a positive outlook.

Thank you for the information and I appreciate your reminder for people to speak nicely.  I understand that this can be stressful for people trying to change vacations, esp when money is involved and the logistics of all travel.  But the call takers I'm sure are doing the best they can with the situation.  I'm fairly certain I will be canceling, I just have to make sure my friend didn't already get her airfare, I don't want her to lose any money on that.  I'm going to write down your pointers so I don't forget that cancel number (I'm sure I would otherwise).  😊

  3. I think I might be understanding this but sometimes it helps to "talk" it out. I booked a cruise for me and a friend, Oasis May 3-7.  I think I am in the time frame where it would normally be 75% penalty for cancelation.  So if my experience is the same as the OP then I would get 25% back on my credit card, and then she and I would share the remainder in FCC.  Is that right?  I ask because normally I would travel solo and I'm not sure she would cruise prior to the end of next year.  If I'm understanding right, that would mean I would lose the money from her FCC because it would never be used by her and I can't use it for myself.  I'm still trying to decide what I want to do, but with the above scenario I think it would be difference between losing about $700 compared to $350 and the 25% that would be put back on my card could go to a land trip I might do instead of the cruise.  Thanks for any help!

  4. Great review!!! I was on the same sailing actually and wish I would have run into you or at least checked CC to follow along with the review. I have a really bad habit of doing tons of research before a trip but then forgetting everything I wanted to do or see while on the trip and then just winging it. I could have used some of those milkshakes for sure! Thanks for letting me relive the week through your review.

PS......I brought the same souvenir cold home. I grrrr at the cold, I grrrrr.

  5. Thanks Tracy! I think I've made up my mind...Allure it is! Too bad I'll miss you by a couple of weeks.

Great! The prices on that month were pretty good to pass by, I'm hoping Labor Day Weekend hotel and flight prices aren't too crazy though. I'm pretty excited about this cruise, I hope you have a good time too!!

  6. Recently I was deciding between NCL studio and the Allure balcony and I vote for the Allure as well. I haven't tried NCL yet and would like to because of the solo traveler meetups they have but I looked at some Cruise Compasses that someone posted on the Royal Caribbean page and there were 3 solo cruiser get togethers in one day (I think it was lunch, dinner and something else I can't remember). So perhaps Royal Caribbean is helpful in that area too. Allure also seems to have so many shows and activities to choose from in general that I thought I would be able to keep busy enough. Or just sit on my balcony and enjoy. And now that I found out that there are some ships with studio balconies I might be set with Royal Caribbean afterall.

  7. Thank you for finishing up your review, as always I enjoyed it very much. Although I will miss reading and viewing your pictures from your cruises I think it is great that you are taking some much deserved time for you. I can only imagine what it takes to do one of these reviews and how a break from it can be needed. Hope you have an amazing time on your Vista cruise!!!

  8. Thank you for the pictures of the Epic, it helped me make a decision on which 2017 cruise to take, really looking forward to exploring the ship. At this point I'm going for the studio room, but if a good price comes up or I just get weak I might go for the balcony. On a side note, your family's tattoos are great, really impressive work. I thought in a previous review you mentioned Kendra has a shop, are one of them the artists?

    Trix :)

  9. When I first signed on you were on I came back thinking I would have saw some more review...... Hope all is well

I'm with you foxcent, hoping all is well. I know people get busy and such and there might be a delay in the review but when it is a "regular" I get a little worried when it has been a while. I've been hoping she just found a last minute cruise and is off enjoying the sun somewhere. :)

  10. I joined! I haven't gone on a Norwegian cruise yet (have been on Carnival and Royal Caribbean) but would really like to give them a try. From what I have read and seen from reviews I think I would really like them. I wore my fitbit while on a 7 day Mediterranean cruise and walked over 60 miles just on excursions. Looking forward to the fitness encouragement and friendly competition.

  11. I'm so glad you did this review, I have been considering a river cruise and curious about them. I probably will be doing one to include Budapest as well, so perfect! I was wondering how crowded the ship felt, mostly the common areas. I am not a fan of small or enclosed places and worry about it sometimes. I would be fine in a small cabin by myself but crowded rooms make me feel uneasy. On a regular cruise I always can just find another spot to go to if necessary but I wasn't sure how it was on a river cruise. Thanks for any info and for the review!!

  12. Hey Trix! Why don't your friends want to do an Asian cruise? Maybe they need to read this. :p At least you know you can do it solo if you have to. I think some of the cruises from China have stops in Japan, so you should check those out.

Hi there! Honestly I think my friends are afraid of the unfamiliar. I on the other hand am fascinated by it, that's why I want to see everywhere in the world. I think I'll print out your review and leave it lying around at work. :D

  13. Loved your review!!!! I saw this in your upcoming cruises a while back and have been sooooo looking forward to it. Most of my friends do not want to do an Asian cruise at all so I think when I do it will be a solo cruise for me. I lived in Japan for 2 years way back in the 90s and really miss all of Asia but want to do one that goes to Japan so I can relive my glory days. :D

  14. Loving your review, I have been anxiously awaiting like everybody else. :D Thank you for posting the pics of the waterfall repelling, I have been looking at a land vacation in Costa Rica for 2016 that has a lot of hiking, yoga and waterfall repelling and that just helped me decide that I should do it. That looked amazing!!! First to get in shape and throw in a cruise or two for good measure.

  15. So excited for you!! I went on the Navigator last year out of Rome, can't believe it has almost been a year already, I want to go back!! We did a lot of tours and walked 67 miles by the time our trip was done. We were pretty tired on that last day but it was SOOOOO worth it. Have fun and take lots and lots of pictures.

  16. Love this idea for a thread, I'm always looking for something new to read. I enjoy Adriana Trigiani's books (she has the Big Stone Gap series and some other good ones too). Her main characters are always from Italy or have Italian heritage and I started reading them before my Mediterranean cruise last year to get in the Italian mood. She writes with a little humor mixed in there so they are easy reads. I'd like to find some good books that take place on ships to just get me in the cruising mood (well, more in that mood I guess) but it seems I always pick books on the Titanic.
