After we ate we decided to do a little bar hopping. We wanted to start at the Alchemy Bar, but it was packed. We went downstairs to Latitudes, on got seats at the back of the bar. My favorite drink here is the Pimms cup…….

Coming up next: A really fun day at sea. Tribe style!!!

So glad to hear they have the Pimm's cup someplace!  I LOVED that at theBrass Magnolia on the Mardi Gras!  I even bought some Sloe gin when I got home to make them myself, but of course it is always better on a ship!

We are on the Celebration in a couple of weeks so now i know where to get one!

I infer from your post that they do not have the Zacapa Old Fashioned any longer?  That was my 'go to' drink at the WCB.  Don't get me wrong, the Bumbu is excellent as well, I have a bottle here in my 'bar stock' but I really prefer the Zacapa 23.

They no longer have the Zacapa, i think i read someplace they changed distiller affiliations.  They also don't make my. favorite drink anymore, the Tropically Yours, which is why i moved to the Bumbu Old Fashioned.

    Thank you!!

That would be great! Hope to see you onboard. 😁

So, we were just on the Reflection 3 weeks ago and had a fabulous time.  If the service is half as good as it was on that cruise it will still be amazing!

We had the premium liquor package on that one, because they had a 40% off offer when purchasing, that wasn't offered for this cruise.  We decided to just pay as we go and see how close we get to the actual cost of a drink package.  We like the World Class bar and premium waters, but i have a feeling we will come in well under the amount to purchase the premium package.  I drank way more than i usually do on the last cruise and still feel i didn't come close to the per days cost.  My husband can get  closer, but we shall see how it goes!

At the WCB I tried a bunch of their drinks and finally settled on the Bumbu Old Fashioned, a very nice, sophisticated drink!  I felt so grown up drinking it! (I am 52, lol).

I emailed celebritymoveup@celebrity.com and in a few days they sent me a direct link for my reservation that worked.

I have emailed them twice in the past 10 days and have gotten no response from them so I suppose I am not eligible for any move up offer.

Update, I just checked my email and they responded with.a direct link today!

  5. Hey Jazzbo/anyone else on this sailing,

Could you please swing by the World Class Bat and see if t hey are still offering the Tropically Yours?  That's my favorite but i haven't seen it on any menus lately.  We are on the Reflection in about a month and I need to know if I need to find a new pre dinner drink ;-).

  6. on the 2 past cruises we have done on celebrity, we initially booked AI with a big box store travel agent.  a few weeks before the cruise we were able to upgrade from classic to premium with some additional discount online.  If I remember correctly, the upgrade opportunity only showed up a few weeks before the cruise but this was pre covid so I don't remember exactly how many weeks before this happened.

This may have changed since the restart though.

I had already edited it to say 15% on drink package.

You sure discounts are only for drink packages?  The rep told me there were discounts on dining and shore excursions too and to  call back when I was ready to book them.

When i got my excellent discount on the premium package I asked the BCC rep about dining package discounts and she said there were only beverage package discounts available.

since i got a higher discount on the bev package than i expected, I didn't worry about the dining package so much.

Check-in used to be 45 days prior, its now 30 days, if you check-in early on the day of you can get any embarkation time you want !

According to Celebrity, I can check in on Oct 27 for my Dec 11 cruise, that's 45 days.  If it doesn't let me I will update this post.

Celebrity stewards do several towel animals in your stateroom, but not every night.  The showers in the bathrooms have sliding doors instead of shower curtains.  This leaves a little extra room in your luggage because you won't need to pack as many clothes pins for the shower.  I bring a few just to close the cabin curtains.

Cloth towels in the public restrooms are another Celebrity plus.

No upsell of shot glasses or other kitschy stuff while dining in the Celebrity MDR.

If you have the beverage package, you don't have to repeatedly sign for EVERY drink like the Cheers package requires.

Lots of little touches that bring Celebrity way above the Carnival experience.

I think you will LOVE Celebrity!

I have only been on 2 Celebrity cruises and didn't get towel animals either time, but it's nice to know that they are a possibility occasionally!

I did forget about the cloth towels in the public restrooms, they were nice.

  10. We have done many Carnival cruises and 2 Celebrity cruises so far (another celebrity cruise booked for December).

I have read that celebrity embarkation is more like Carnival now, at least for some ships, with the keys available at the cabin, which streamlines the embarkation process.  You can drop your bags off in your cabin upon embarkation then leave to allow the stewards to finish prepping the rooms, with no loyalty status required to do this early.

There are no towel animals in your cabins when they are serviced, but I think they are still performing 2X a day service instead of picking early or late service.

We find it to be a lot calmer, quiter and mellow than the average Carnival cruise.  Like mentioned above there are no water slides, roller coasters, sky rides etc.  Usually fewer kids running around.

If I remember correctly the casino is completely non smoking.

We really enjoy Celebrity for different reasons than our enjoyment of Carnival.  You probably will as well.

edited to add:  We are platinum on Carnival and one thing I will miss is the free laundry since we have no status on Celebrity ;-).

  11. I can't speak to recent cruises, but last time we went out of Miami (probably early 2019) we were with my inlaws, and my MIL had a walker.  As soon as someone saw her they whisked her and my FIL through an express registration process.  They were so quickly whisked away that they ABANDONED us with half their luggage and other accessories to stand in line for 90 minutes to board on our own, because we got separated briefly at the metal detectors.

I was not a happy camper carrying my mother in law's purse, carry on bag and cane as well as my own accessories, only to have them call us half way through waiting in the registration line to ask where we were ;-).

If you are a member of the Blue Chip Club (sign up, if not) you can get at least a 15% discount.   I just added a Premium Alcohol Package to my reservation for only $60/night plus gratuities (total $72).   If I booked via online cruise planner, it would have been $75.99 plus gratuities  (total $91).

The online planner was discounted 9% from $84 to $75.99.    The  BCC discounted 28.5% from $84+ gratuity to $60+ gratuity!  Huge difference.

I just got this same price.  It's funny, they told me it was a 15% discount, but it was the same discount you got.  Very pleased!

Agree. Depending on what they are showing, it won’t be as quiet up there as it once was.  Last time we were in they showed a football game so it got quite loud with all the folks cheering. Not saying that’s a bad thing, but just need to be aware of what you may get.  Other times it was completely quiet.

This is good to know.  I will definitely take a look at some itineraries once Reflection is back over here and see if they have anything listed on the Nassau port days for the big screen.

It's disappointing, I would much prefer an area i was paying extra for to be quiet.

We’ve done them a few times since the screen was installed. The movies are kind of obnoxious. The app may show what times the movies play but I feel like it was every sea day. Our last time renting them they played golf in the morning then two movies in the afternoon so there was no escaping it.

    Thanks,

I was looking at a port day, so maybe once Reflection gets back over to the Caribbean I will look at some of the dailies for those cruises and see if there are any movies scheduled.  It's unfortunate that someplace that could be restful and secluded was ruined by the screen and noise.
