My only concern would be the weather in May. We went in early August and the weather was perfect. So when you sail early that would be my worry- hope all is well and the weather good for you.
We have been to Alaska twice—once in July and once in August. The July cruise had rain most of the days and our excursions like a seaplane and helicopter to the glacier were cancelled. The August cruise had no rain and we did the seaplane and the helicopter. I just think you have to be prepared not to do certain excursions if it rains but still enjoy the wildness of Alaska.

We ate in a couple of the specialty restaurants and really enjoyed them. The steakhouse had excellent fish as well as steak. Excellent service too. If you can get a view table by the window, that enhances the experience. In Le Voyage, the specialty restaurant inspired by Daniel Boulud, the tasting menu with wine pairing was outstanding! Just excellent dishes, choices for each course, impeccable service. It was a bit pricey but really an elevated dining experience.
Also, we found the ship to be so smooth. Of course the Med is a usually calm but we almost never felt any movement. Even with a forward cabin.

Day 1, July 2nd.
We had a 12:00-12:30 pm boarding time. We took a taxi, picked up the other two and quickly arrived at the port. I was pleasantly surprised how close the taxi was able to get to the ship. Check in was very fast, the only hiccup was that the lady at the desk was less familiar with people who were boarding with certificates of recovery then people with antigen tests. After a few minutes we boarded.
It was obvious from the start that there were not so many people on the ship. The number I kept hearing was about 1600.
My wife had been on the Edge in early 2020, and was not enthralled by the infinity balcony. We ended up booking what I think of as a porthole balcony on deck eight, forward. Here are a few pics. The other couple had the standard balcony. I have to say I preferred ours.
Hi, we were on this cruise too. We had Retreat room, a Royal suite. It was great. I heard that there were 1700 passengers so that is close to the number you heard. It definitely felt quite spacious and at times unoccupied. Pros and cons to that.

We waited 123 days and just got our refund today for our second booking. First booking was refunded in 30 days. Both bookings cancelled the same day. Our TA had to escalate for us to get the second refund.

Today, after cancelling 2 bookings 123 days ago, I got our last refund. I had to have my TA go through the escalation process in order to get the second booking refund.
We are currently still booked on Princess SF to Hawaii on December 23. Not sure if we will still go since Princess has cancelled all sailings through mid-December. This might be first one back so unsure of whether it will be great because everything should be super clean, or terrible if they really don't know how to deal with the issues to make it a positive experience!

So glad that Ironhorsejocky got money back! I just passed 95 days and no refund yet on one booking and I thought that was ridiculous. I got a refund on the other booking on the same cruise after only 30 days! Thanks for offering hope!

Hi,
We received today a CC credit for the deposit for our September cruise that we cancelled through our TA on April 29. Still waiting for second deposit to be credited but I was pleasantly surprised to see it ONLY took 30 days!

Any reviews of The Chef’s Table?
in Celebrity Cruises
Posted
I was on the Celebrity Edge last Sept and did the Chef’s Table. As a single, it was a bit awkward since everyone else was a couple and there are only 8 people (7 in my case). While I thought the food was excellent, it was a long dinner and there was quite a bit of downtime before the main course. I did the wine pairings and the sommelier was quite knowledgeable in explaining to all of us some history etc. behind the wines. That being said, there was one couple who only drank martinis and kept talking during the sommelier’s informative talk to us having the wine pairings. I would say if you enjoy a special meal with wine, do it but be prepared for some passengers who really aren’t into the experience but only themselves.
