I just got word from Alhambra that they are fully booked on one of our dates :(, so I have to look for another hotel.

We would love to go to a large supermarkt like Walmart or something. As far as I could see on the website of Sawgrass, there aren't any there, right? So if there are large malls and other discount stores in Dania, that might be an option too to stay there.

It's only 2 whole days (of which one day, we will go to Sawgrass) that we are in Fort Lauderdale, so we haven't got very much time to do a lot of things. We would like to do some (window)shopping and just have a taste of the American way of life, but if I read your post correctly for that Dania would be a good option too?

So the search for another hotel continues......

And good to know that $75 dollar is a good price for the transfer, I'll go ahead and book that.

When we return on saturday we will need a transfer to Miami Beach. Does SAS give better prices for that or shall we use QLS again?

I've posted here before and you gave some good recommendations like Alhambra, Bahia Mar, BW Oceanside and Sleep Inn Dania.

I've looked at all of them and Alhambra en Bahia Mar look great. Alhambra was a great tip, it's nowhere to be found on any Dutch booking sites, but I still haven't made a definite choice and reading on this (and other) threads so many different hotels come up too.

So again, will you help me make a good choice?

I have trouble seeing where the nice hotels are and which are the nice area's with lots af shops and restaurants.

I read somewhere that Las Olas Boulevard is the place to be? Is that true or are there also other nice areas? When we would book a hotel in Dania Beach, is that in walking distance to Las Olas or isn't that necessary because there enough to see in Dania.

We want a hotel (not too expensive) with a nice, free breakfast and if possible a shuttle (free) to port. Pool would be nice.

We are in Fort Lauderdale for two whole days and one of those days we want to go to Sawgrass Mills. How much is a taxi or shuttle to Sawgrass?

Then a last question for now. I have a price of $75 for a shuttle (so not per person) from QLS for transportation from MIA to a hotel in Fort Lauderdale. Is that a good price or should we look further?

I’ve been reading a lot in this thread and already found lots of tips, but still…maybe someone can give me some specific tips.

We land on a Wednesday in October at 07.30 pm in Miami from Holland. Since for us it’s the middle of the night, we are searching for a hotel nearby the Miami airport. Just for one night. In the morning we will go to Fort Lauderdale where we will stay for two nights. Then on Saturday we’ll embark on the Oasis for a week.

When we arrive back in Ft Lauderdale a week later, we will travel back to Miami to stay there for a night and on Sunday evening late we will fly back to Holland.

That’s our travelplan, now my questions……

• What hotel can you recommend at or close to Miami airport?
  
• How do we get from Miami Airport to Fort Lauderdale?
  
• Any recommendations for hotel in Fort Lauderdale?
  
• And finally a hotel in Miami for our last night preferably in Miami Beach?
  

Is public transportation a good option from the airport to downtown? I read somewhere that there are busses riding between Miami Airport and Ft Lauderdale airport for about $30. Is that a good option or is there a better way?

For all of the above goes that we don’t want to spend too much money. So, no 5* hotels but better then a hostel. Just a nice, clean hotel not to far away from shops, restaurants etc. Preferably not to expensive, but a nice hotel and good location win over money.

Hopefully someone will want to answer my questions, although maybe some questions belong in the thread about Miami?
