  1. Arkansas Cruisers - we are also from Arkansas!  We are planning on going to the Lighthouse Pointe when we travel in December.  But we are trying to decide if we want to just get a day pass or the all inclusive.  As someone mentioned already, the price difference is $26 for the day pass and $78 for the AI.  I can't seem to find a menu with prices to determine which would be best.  I did see someone posted that drinks are probably $7.50 each.  And that lunch with a soda was $15.  Any input on menu prices and offerings?

  2. I am so sorry to hear about JR - he was so helpful in getting me a hard to find Holiday pin that was very special to me. He was always so good to help people find the lost pins they needed for their collection. He will be missed.

    I do have a few old pins that I might pass on if someone needs them. Nick - I'm not sure I understand what you are wanting. You say you have a Conquest pin, but you are wanting a Conquest funnel pin? I have one of the old Carnival Conquest funnel pins - we sailed on that ship quite often when it was in New Orleans.

  3. Welcome back JR - hope your health continues to improve!

    I checked and I still don't have a Fantasy pin. I do have several extras of the Conquest if anyone needs one of those. These are the older style pins.

    I might have some extras of other pins too - need to check!

    Thanks,

    Sherryl

  4. Okay, K&P Luv2Cruise - I love your countdown clock! Where did you get it? I have found some other ones that I like, but if I try to enter it into my signature the code doesn't work. I've only been successful entering the one that is created by CC.

    Thanks in advance!

  5. I know there's not a sports bar on the Dream. Did you happen to notice if they were showing football or other sports at any of the other lounges? I think a friend told me he thought they just showed sports at the casino bar.

    We love college football and will be on the Dream during bowl season - hope to be able to see some of the bowl games.

    Thanks for the review!

  6. The Fun Times for the Elation from John Heald's page and from Zydecocruiser are from 2011. Would love to have some posted that are more current, or if someone has more recent copy, would you please email me? srobins@uark.edu

    We are going for New Year's Eve. I have a friend who was just on the Elation but he didn't bring back the Fun Times this trip.

    Thanks,

  7. Hi all,

    I could use a Pre-2000 Fantasy pin, I was on the ship in 2008, but it was the innagural cruise out of Jacksonville and I don't guess I got a pin, or have misplaced it. I have extras to trade: Platinum pin, Ecstasy, Fascination, Conquest, Sensation 2000, and the new VIFP Triumph. If anyone can help, please let me know!

    Thanks!

  8. For my birthday last month, my sister put all of my collected lapel pins (Carnival and all of the others as well), on a large board. I thought I had all of the pins I needed, but when checking the board against my "sailed" list, I realized I am missing a pin for the Fantasy. Also, I don't have one for the Magic, but I have friends sailing on her so should be able to get that one. I have the one they sell in the gift shop, but not the official one because when we sailed on her December 2011 they gave us the new Platinum pins. I saw one listed on ebay for the Magic, but it is the old style -I figured they would only have the new ones for the Magic - the large white ones with VIFP on them. Am I mistaken?

    Anyway, I would really love to have a Fantasy pin. I have some extra of the old style Conquest pins and a couple more of the Platinum pins that I can trade.

    Thanks,

  9. Actually, I looked through my pins and didn't have any of the Ecstasy pins - I think I remember that when we went on that sailing they were out of pins. So the only one I have is one I purchased in the gift shop. I have lots of Conquest pins and I'm going to sent those to JR. I'm also sending him a couple of the Platinum pins.

    I need an Ecstasy pin as well!

  10. I'll be sending JRGAPI a few extra pins soon - he's sending me a Triumph and I'm going to send him a couple of Platinum Pins and a couple of Conquest pins and maybe some other extras I have. He is always so good to help out people needing pins. If you send extras to him he will pass them on to other cruisers - he doesn't sell them.

  11. We did this to surprise our girls last summer and I'm planning to do it again in a couple of weeks. I started last year with a clue that led them to a printed calendar for December with the dates highlighted. Then the next clue led them to another hint. I think I had 4-5 clues and hints. They will figure it out a lot quicker this year!

    There are lots of hiding places - I'll see if I can't find the clues that I used and post them for you. The objects can be anything related to your cruise - things like a book related to the Carribbean, some flip flops, a couple of lanyards (for their Sail and Sign card), a plush dolphin, sun screen, etc. Just make them subtle at first and more revealing towards the end.

    Let me see if I can find my list - I know I still have it somewhere!

  12. Hi - thanks for the awesome review! I am getting ready to book a cave tubing trip for our family for December and it is between this company and one other. Can you tell me how many you had in your group? We are most interested in a private tour with just our family (9 of us), and I am also concerned about eating at someone's house versus eating at a restaurant.

    Thanks,

    Sherryl

  13. We did the same thing - parked at the Fulton garage for our cruise last week. We did go by the cruise terminal first and dropped off our luggage so we wouldn't have to put it on the shuttle. Then we parked, and rode the shuttle to the pier. We didn't tip the driver - :o When we got back Saturday morning we were off the ship by 7:00 a.m. and went looking for the shuttle. It was not there, so we called. No one answered until a little after 7 and he said he would be right there. And yes, it was warm already! We did get loaded in the shuttle, got to the garage, went and got our car and pulled it around front and the porter helped us load it into our car. I did tip him $5 for his help. We had prepaid, so we didn't really worry about the fact that we couldn't find the pay booth - the barricades were up as mentioned.

    But I wondered if it wouldn't have been better to use the parking garage at the port - it would have cost us a little more, but we would have been on the road about 30 minutes earlier.

  14. I had this shirt printed for a large group on a Halloween cruise a couple of years ago. People on my roll call for that cruise were so excited about it that I placed a second order for a bunch of them. I didn't want to pay for a four color print, so we used the orange shirts to give us some color. We ordered them through logodogz.com and were really pleased with the quality. I can't remember exactly what they cost but it was under $15. I have used the carnival fun tees several times but stopped when they discontinued the bright colors. I haven't decided if I am going to design a shirt for the Christmas cruise this year or not. But this thread is making me seriously consider it!

  15. We were on the Conquest in December for our fifth time. So we are really familiar with this ship. We are hoping that they will change the Las Vegas shows this year. I heard from one of the cruise directors that they change them every five years, and the Conquest is now in her fifth year - so please, give us some new shows! We don't even really like the ones they have, so we are hoping for something better when we go back in December. (Yes, I know - but we are crazy about this ship and the itinerary, and it is so convenient for us.)

  16. After reading this thread, we tried the melting cake on the Conquest, and one of our friends had it every single night. We made friends with the hostess and she gave us the recipe. It is different than the one previously posted, in that it has less sugar. This is the recipe we were given:

    Melting Chocolate Cake served with Vanilla ice cream

    Portions: 1000

    Ingredients:

    Semi Sweet Chocolate 70 lb

    Butter 70 lb

    Fresh Eggs 700 ea

    Sugar 18 lb

    Flour 25 lb

    Method:

    * Melt chocoate and butter

    * Mix half egg and sugar and whisk for few minutes and add flour. Then add the balance egg.

    * Add egg mixture to the melted chocolate mixture.

    * Pour the mixture in the ramekin cups.

    * Bake directly in the oven at 200 degrees C for 15 to 20 minutes.

    * Serve with vanilla ice cream in 2 oz ramekin cups.

    Garnish:

    * Sweet chocolate

    * Chocolate Run Out (please see the steps for making Run out)

    * Powder sugar

    That's all we got - don't know the steps for making the "run out".

    I've looked at the conversions and don't quite have it yet, but the temp should be 390 degrees F, still working on the ingredient list.
