  1. We were on Oasis in January. We saw everything from a few Tuxedo's to a guy in shorts and a t-shirt, which kind of surprised me, since my husband was turned away at Sabor (Navigator of the seas) for having dressed in Bermuda shorts and a Polo Shirt. I have no problem with him being turned away, because their dress code clearly states "no shorts."

We shared a table with a family whose daughters luggage never made it to the airport, so she was sharing clothes with her 80 year old mother. I saw some women in dresses that looked like they came from Fredericks of Hollywood. My personal rule of thumb is, just because it fits me, doesn't mean it's appropriate or I should wear it.

You will see everything on formal night, so if you like to dress up, go for it! If you don't like to dress up, don't stress.

  2. Use your cruise compass. Find the activities that interest you and you husband and highlight them. We just finished an Oasis of the Seas cruise on Jan. 16th and there was so much to do that we just didn't get to all of it. I'm thinking I'm going to book another sailing on Oasis or Allure just to do the things I missed.

If you like a fun party atmosphere, don't miss the quest, we also enjoyed the newlywed game, and the headliner show. Have fun!

  3. You can check-in online while on the ship. Or you can check-in using kiosks at the airport, no standing in line.

If you are flying Southwest, you can pay for Early Bird and be automatically checked in. I advise EB anyhow when using Southwest with luggage valet, because you never know when the crew will check you in, and if they check you in late, it will affect your boarding position.

I was just going to say that. I always check in on-line. Easy and convenient.

  4. the time for bags to switch planes is much faster than for humans. I had less than 10 minutes between planes in atlanta going to florida for a work trip (i was the crazy person running through the airport) and somehow my bag made it from one end of the airport to the other and was waiting for me in florida.

Same with us. Our flight from Fort Lauderdale was 15 minutes behind schedule. When we finally got to our gate in Houston, we were the last ones boarding. I was terrified that our bags weren't going to make it to Denver. They were the first ones to come off in Denver.

  5. Another positive is your airline boarding pass is delivered to your cabin on the last day. I used luggage valet after an Oasis cruise and flew from Ft Lauderdale to Birmingham, AL with a change of planes in Atlanta. Upon arrival in Birmingham my bags were waiting at baggage pick up.

I liked that we received our boarding passes too. I was a little paranoid because we had a connecting flight from Ft. Lauderdale to Houston, Houston to Denver. Imagine my delight seeing my luggage in Denver. [emoji3]

  6. How does this work if your airline charges bag fees? I've only used valet when we flew southwest with free bag check.

They will add your airline fees into your onboard account. So we paid $90.00 total. $50 for united Airlines baggage fee per person and 40.00 for the luggage valet.

  7. My husband and I recently used this service while on our Oasis of the Seas Cruise. It's $20 per bag + whatever baggage fees your airline charges.

We signed up for it on the television in our room or you can go to Guest Services and sign up for it. On the last day of our cruise we received an envelope with our printed boarding passes and tags for our luggage, which we put out in the hallway at night.

Because we didn't have luggage to contend with at port, we were able to get off the ship at 8:00. We were off the ship and through customs by 8:30.

This service is especially nice if you have some time to kill in port before catching your flight.

  8. Some good Galt Mile area restaurants are Greek Islands, Bokampers (waterfront huge sports bar/grill), Nick's (neighborhood Italian with lounge upstairs), La Dolce Vita, East Side Deli (breakfast/lunch). Lucca can be hit or miss. Pizza Rustica has great takeout. Martorano is popular but very noisy. There are a couple of new Italian restaurants on 33rd St and 32nd St I haven't yet tried. Aruba about a mile north is good and oceanfront, and there is a very nice waterfront Chart House about a quarter of a mile away. Since you have a car, if the weather is nice, you should also try Coconuts 5 miles south.

Bokampers was an excellent choice, Thank you for the suggestions! It was so good that we ate their two nights in a row. Plus were able to Valet our car there for only $5.00 while we explored Fort Lauderdale on the water taxi.

We Also ate Birthday dinner at Coconuts. It was also very good. Great vibe going there.

  9. Let me know how the accommodation was after your trip!

I just posted a Galt Villas review on TA. It's under Laura Mares. It was perfect for us. Clean, King Efficiency. Our only complaint, not the Motels fault, is the road work in front of Motel. It didn't ruin our trip, just a bit of a nuisance.

  10. It's 'only' 61 this morning and the female TV newscasters and meteorologists are dressed in long sleeves and boots! If it was in the 50s the scarves and gloves would come out of storage :D

[emoji3] I took this photo of these boys swimming in the Arkansas River, the middle of October. It was about 65 degrees that day. But I totally get that your cold is humid and ours is dry. That makes a big difference. ef220409883d5b2d74e15911fd1a488f.jpg

  11. Yes, my thoughts exactly. I would choose Chart House. Steak 954 is a nice oceanfront (with cars in between) place, and Grill 66 is on a nice marina. We are getting a cold front so I won't be sitting outside at night this week! It was in the 60s today with the sun shining.

It will warm up this weekend. :)

Lol, We're from Colorado.... 60 is a heatwave!

Thanks for posting this.😃 I'm looking for a waterfront Steak/Seafood restaurant to celebrate my husbands birthday. It can be anywhere really, as we'll have a car. Price isn't an issue, but I want a great view.

I'll let you know! We'll be there Wednesday evening!

  14. Again, I will be here to answer questions about the sailing or ship so dont be afraid to ask about anything and I willl try and find the answer for you. Some things that I am look for,

    1. Drink cards or C&A discounts for packages-I don't drink a ton, so I couldn't make a drink package worth it or I'd be sh**faced all the time (and none of us want that:eek:) so i'll be curious to see if they offer the cards. I just read a review from the Oasis western itinerary that they were offered on day 2. I sure hope so

    2. Dinning Package- Just to see how it works and if the inflated prices are here to stay. Again reported a couple weeks ago, Chops now $45, 150 CP $45, Hibachi $35, Solarium Bistro $25, Giovannis Table $30.

    3. Next Cruise- We definitely plan on having a balance on our seapass so we will book another cruise. Just not sure where. We have the Summit out of San Jaun booked for 2017 (no road trips there tho :D) via a next cruise from our NOS cruise.

    4. Zoom-We booked early so we didn't get the free zoom offer but will get the package. I'll report back on the pricing with the Diamond discount. I plan on getting a single device plan (wife says she'll just steal mine once n a while) and DD's will get the 2 device plan. Still not sure when I will get it. Probably use 4g on Saturday as much as possible, use one of our free days (coupon) for Sunday and then buy the rest of the week minus our other coupon for $45.

So anything else anyone needs to know or wants a pic of, let me know and I will start compiling a list.

    Tapatalk makes this really easy!

#1 Not getting "****faced" is exactly why I didn't buy a drink package for this cruise. I've done that in the past[emoji45]

There's just to much to do on the Oasis to be drunk all the time. I'm not judging anyone who does, just saying I know from personal experience, I lost a lot of time doing that in the past.

  15. I am going to put a couple links here for a couple of our past cruises that I made video slideshows out of. The 1st is our 6 night Indy cruise from 2013 and the second will be just a couples cruise on the Navigator out of Galveston, yes us and our bff's did a road trip to Galveston to take this cruise, ya we like to drive I guess

If nothing else they do have good music synced up to them, so if you're bored and can spare an hour of your life give em a looksy.

    Independence 6 day 2013

    Navigator 7 Day 2015

Awe.... We did the road trip to Galveston for Navigator too. I loved it! We're in Colorado so it wasn't to terribly long, but it was fun.

  16. We are first timers to FLL as well and have just booked Galt Villas Inn on North Ocean Blvd for $150/night. While I agree it's not your Hilton or any other top hotels or even a budget motel like Super 8 (looks like its an old hotel), it does have very good reviews on TripAdvisor and since you'll will most likely be bar hopping and probably just going to sleep it should be sufficient. Im picky when it comes to cleanliness and this hotel fit our needs with budget/cleanliness. Our trip is in January so will update once we're back.

I booked the Galt Villas for our 3 night stay next week before boarding the Oasis. Just my husband and I, we were looking for location, budget and cleanliness. We have rented a car, so this location seemed ideal. I have been planning our vacations for 13 years and always go with Trip Advisor reviews. It hasn't failed me yet.
