  1. Hi Bill,  I should have been doing more research on the Regent site.  Just found you.  DW (Cheryl) and I have been on Regent cruises before Covid, was booked on 2021 World Cruise which got cancelled and are now booked on the 2024 World Cruise.  We currently have PH 907 on the 2024 WC but would like to move further back.  PH 830 is available and we have asked our TA to put it on hold until we can make a final decision.  Our issue is that it appears that the 830 - 836 area is above the Casino.   Is this correct?   If so, has anyone had any noise issues from the slot machines directly below these cabins?

  2. Before a cruise I always stop by my bank and get $30 or $40 worth of 2 dollar bills.  When I give a tip the first day at a bar, I explain the origin of the $2 bill and then give another one every day I get a drink at the same bar ( I also tend to frequent the same bar the whole cruise).  I know I get a better pour and more prompt service (especially when the bar is really busy) because they know they are going to get another $2 bill.

  3. Has anyone booked any of the Penthouse cabins at the aft elevators on Deck 6 of the Splendor?  We were able to get one of the last Penthouse cabins for our Dec 23, 2022 cruise but it was on Deck 6 just above the restrooms on Deck 5.  Since Deck 5 doesn't have cabins but has lounges, cafes, etc. we were wondering if any noise from Deck 5 filtered up.  Any replies would be helpful.

  4. I understand the RCL not only requires testing and restrictions onboard but also requires passengers to show proof of insurance that they have medical coverage and evacuation back home if they are restricted from re-boarding at a port because of infection with Covid-19.  However, if you can show you have been vaccinated, you don't have to show insurance, be tested, have the run of the ship, etc.

  5. Does anyone know if there is off-port parking lots available in Miami?

Failing that, are there any hotels in Miami close to the port that would allow me to leave my car there while I am on a cruise (free or a nominal charge)?

  6. We are leaving from Cape Liberty on the Summit in September for 14 days. Since we are going to be on a car tour of New England we would like to spend some time in NYC before the cruise and stay at a hotel close to the port.

Can anyone tell me if there is a hotel that would allow me to park my car for the 14 day cruise.

  7. Does anyone know when the Serenade last had a refurbishment and to what extent the refurbishment went. Generally, when RCI refurbishes a ship, it is only the "Public" spaces that get cleaned up. The stateroom bathrooms, carpet, beds and furnishings don't get renewed.

I am looking at the 11 day next November or December on the Serenade but not of the ship is looking and smelling old.

  8. Can anyone tell me when the Explorer OTS was refurbished??

I know the ship is over 12 years old and it was the first ship I sailed on and would like to renew acquaintance with her. I understand she will be in Port Canaveral for a few cruises around Thanksgiving.

  9. My wife and I are doing five (5) back to back cruises on the Quantum when they reposition next May. Will we have to get off the ship and go thru re-boarding procedures each time or would we be able to stay on the ship and just get new ship cards from Guest Relations???

Additionally, we will have to change cabins after the third cruise. Will we have to repack everything in order to move? When would we move? Before new passengers come aboard? Will the new cabin we will move into be cleaned before we move, etc, etc, etc,?????

    HELP!!!!!

  10. Take a look at Luggage Forward and travel media reviews. Sounds like a fabulous trip--bon voyage!

Sent from my iPad using Cruise Critic Forums mobile app

Thanks for the hint. I found a site that will pick up in Shanghai and deliver to my neighbor here in Florida if we are not back yet.

  11. Has anyone ever shipped luggage home from China after an overseas cruise?

We are going on the Quantum from Cape Liberty, NJ to Shanghai, China and want to ship most of our luggage home so we can tour Shanghai and Beijing without having to haul our large suitcases around on the train (to Beijing) and Plane home.

  12. I am interested in starting a group Cruise Critic cruise for the Quantum repositioning in May/June next year. Would anyone be interested in joining the group?

This cruise starts in Cape Fear, NJ on May 2, 2015 and ends 53 days later (June 24) in Shanghai, China. The cruise is really comprised of 5 different cruises but I only want those people that would plan to do the entire route. The Itinerary is as follows:

Transatlantic to Azores; Cartagena, Palma DeMallorca and Barcelona Spain; Rome; Naples; Athens; Suez Canal; Aqaba, Jordon; overnight in Dubai, UAE; Muscat, Oman, UAE; overnight in Cochin, India; Penang, Malaysia; overnight in Singapore; Kulaua Lumpore, Malaysia; Singapore (again); Ho Chin Minh City, Vietnam; overnight in Hong Kong; Xiamen, China; Shanghai, China. There are a total of 30 cruising days including the Suez Canal.

For those that haven't done a Group Cruise Critic Cruise here are some of the guidelines: We all deal with a TA determined by Cruise Critic. A group of cabins are set aside (several in each category) for the group and we all book thru the designated TA. There will be several parties aboard for the group depending on the size of the group. We can book tours together and we all get some Cruise Critic gifts.

The designated TA will negotiate rates directly with the cruise line so we get that benefit also.

I understand some CC members have already booked the cruise as have I but I would be like to lead a group cruise if anyone wants to join.

If you are interested, please reply and if there is enough interest, I will contact Laura and start the process to get the group together.

    Hope this answers your question.

  15. Has anyone been scuba diving at Coco Cay? Is there a reef or just sand bottom? I will be cruising on Freedom May 9th and will be in Coco Cay, St. Thomas and St. Martin.

Already dove at St. Thomas a couple of times and DW and I have other plans for there. I have also heard that St. Martin is not really a good location. At my age, I don't want to go deep and a one tank dive to 40 feet (as RCL provides at Coco Cay) is fine with me.
