  1. Not for Celebrity. The OBC will only be for Carnival Corp companies. Perhaps, you/they meant Princess? Celebrity is RCCL.

Royal Caribian corp, which owns Celebrity, has the same program - own 100 shares get onboard credit. However they have more restrictions on when you can receive it, and I have yet to qualify for it. However their shares have increased in value so much that I am not unhappy that I bought them.

  2. There is also a hidden price limitation since they started letting you order top shelf liquors up to $50 in cost. I don't remember how much it is, but several people have reported reaching their daily limit after just 8 or 9 drinks, when asking for top shelf.

Also, if you have the Cheers program and play in the casino, even if you have the On Us card those drinks count against your 15 limit.

There is nothing in the documentation supporting this. Perhaps they were having doubles?

  3. Would be good to know, being from Canada too. It sure is nice to win here tax free ... in the US, they take taxes starting at $1200, but, I've always won just under $1000 in any one spin at a slot on the boat, so not sure if they would take taxes for a Canadian winner.

My concern aS a Canadian is how do we get the cash across the border? Arent we required to report any cash amounts over 10,000? Not sure of the implications of having more than that! Would love to be in the position where I actually had to worry about that. :)

  4. Cheers! is absolutely refundable if you pre-order online and then cancel. We just did this 2 weeks ago. We purchased Cheers! with a credit card in November and then purchased $1000 in gift cards from Verizon and AARP. We canceled and re ordered using the gift cards. We received a credit 8 days later.

Thank you so much for confirming that!! I appreciate it.

  5. I know they are nonrefundable once you get on board...

Sent from my XT1030 using Forums mobile app

Yeah I knew that/figured that was a given, as well. But in the past, for example, on another cruise line, we pre-purchased our drink plans and then the price went down - so we cancelled and repurchased at the lower price. No issues. I just wonder why her response was so vague re whether you could cancel if you changed your mind so I was hoping someone here may have actually cancelled prior to boarding and DID get a refund?

  6. I was going to pre purchase our Cheers packages but when I went online and read the small print and conditions etc it said that they were non-refundable. So I contacted my Carnival "personal cruise consultant" (not sure what they are called on Carnival sorry) and emailed her what I had read and could she clarify that if I purchased it now, it was non refundable.

Her reply was: "I would add Cheers package only when you are ready."

    So.......they are non refundable????

  7. I've done a search and I know that FTTF will be on sale under shore excursions. But I wanted to ask, is it under the embarkation port excursion tab, or does it have a tab of it's own?

Sorry, probably a question you've seen a lot before but I couldn't find the answer with my search.

  8. Just curious...Is there "ever" a situation when buying the cruiseline insurance a good option....Yes I know the usual answer's why buying private insurance is better...just asking this "specific" question...Thanks.

Yep there is. We have a family member with mental health issues. With regular travel insurance he would have to be in hospital in a psychiatric ward for us to be able to claim on our insurance if we cancelled to be with him. With cancel for any reason we can stay home if he just needs us to be near by. We always buy the ships insurance for that reason. We have our own out of country medical insurance.

  9. THey are so similar, but not quite. Has anyone gone on both? Hard to tell which is the best one. They are both on the Dawn Ship.

0ne starts in Boston and the other on Quebec. That does not matter to me. However, here are the differences:

THe one that starts in Boston goes to: Portland Maine, the other Bar Harbor

one goes to Prince Edward. the other St. John bayfundy instead

. one goes to Gaspsie the other Quebec city

LOved Bar Harbor - just walked around the beautiful town. Prince Edward Island is beautiful. Dont waste time, IMO, on Anne of Greengables. We did a private tour to look at lighthouses. It was fabulous. and Quebec City for sure. Beautiful Old part of the city.

  10. My husband and I have a Caribbean cruise booked for January 2017. We were not overly concerned about Zika as we are 60 years old, obviously not going to get pregnant.

However, I have been reading that there is a link showing up now between Zika and Guillain-Barre Syndrome.

So we are considering our options. We have until Nov 9th when final payment is due, to decide.

We know that the advisories all say to use repellent with DEET, which we always do anyways, and then to wear light coloured pants and shirts with hats when in a Zika infected area. However, the consequences of G-B Syndrome can be quite severe.

I know that cancellation is our decision to make, but I'm wondering what other cruisers are thinking, now that this link between Zika and Guillain-Barre is showing up in lab results etc.

  11. We have a family member with a mental illness who has been stable for years. However, any insurance policy I have researched says that person must be in a hospital in a designated mental health area or the insurance company will not cover cancellation of our trip. Our concern has only always been that he might be having a few bad weeks when we are about to leave for our cruise, and would like us within reach, if necessary. So I purchase HALs policy as at least we would get a large portion of our money back.

We have a good medical plan through work so that part is covered.

I am grateful for our peace of mind when we book our cruises.
