  1. Was at Maya Chan July 26th. They had raked the seaweed from their beach and it was fine. The smell was strong on the ride to Maya Chan but wasn't bad at the resort. I floated in a chair the whole time. My daughter used the paddle board and ocean kayak. We had a wonderful time. I oxy cleaned our swimsuits afterwards.

  2. We liked it overall. We had anytime dining (just two of us). Two nights I think we waited about 15 minutes or so with a pager. We just took pictures and watched whatever was going on in the atrium. We were pleased with all the food with the exception of maybe a dish or two. We enjoyed our serving team the first night so requested to be in their section again the subsequent nights. One night we were tired and didn't feel like dressing up and waiting to be served so we just went to the lido.

    Thanks!

  3. We are booking a tour with Rony and want to visit the Orphanage and was curious how we would bring stuff ... Do you think the orphange or the school would be better? And what about candy can we bring that as I know the kids that we send stuff to in Nicauragua are thrilled whenever we send candy

Check the website Family Travel Network dot Com for Roatan Honduras. It lists items needed at different schools & medicals clinics. Victor Bodden sent me this website.

  4. I found this: Belize Exclusive Secluded Island Beach Day Pass Excursion through Shore Excursioneer dot com.

Looks like a great place to spend a beach day but kinda pricey and requires a minimum of 4 people. I contacted Shore Excursioneer about a party of 2 and received a response that the minimum was 4. I then contacted the resort through their website (royal palm island dot com) and received a very nice reply that they could possibly link a party of two to another party (if there were others booked on the day we were going to be there). Trip Advisor has very good reviews and great pictures of the resort.

Has anyone been on this excursion?

  5. Found this on Carnival's FAQ:

    AUTOMATIC TELLER MACHINES (ATM)

For our guests’ convenience, Automatic Teller Machines are located on the Promenade Deck or Mezzanine Deck.

There is a $6.00 fee per transaction for this service.

Fee Notification: The operator of the ATM will charge a fee for a cash withdrawal. This charge is in addition to any fees that may be assessed by the guest’s financial institution. This additional charge will be added to the transaction amount and deducted from the guest’s account.

The daily withdrawal limit is $500.00.

Guests are able to withdraw funds and make balance inquiries on their checking and savings accounts while the ship is in port or at sea.

For questions or problems with the transaction, the guest needs to contact their financial institution directly.

  6. I have used Cocoa Beach Shuttle in the past and thought very highly of them. They helped us out in a pinch from our Disney Cruise when we missed the Disney bus back to the airport because of a medical emergency. I also used them for a family cruise, 10 of us, from MCO to Cocoa Beach and then to the port the next morning. I am sad to hear of their bad reviews.

  7. I am doing this in July with a 15 yr old and 13 yr old. It is a short amount of time but I like knowing I am specifically meeting someone to pick us up and will make sure we get back to the ship on time. I can't stay in the sun for long amounts of time and the girls love the sun. I like knowing I will have a shady place and not have to look for one and they can be in the sun. I tend to spend time panicking about not getting back to the ship on time even though it has never happened. Maya Chan looks fun for the girls and peaceful for me.

  8. Just an FYI: By law, it is illegal for drivers to pump their own gas in New Jersey. All gas stations in New Jersey have attendants that pump the gas for you, so it stands to reason that a person from NJ might not know how to operate the pump. Pampering has nothing to do with it. I moved to Florida from NJ almost 15 years ago, and getting comfortable with pumping my own gas was a process(and I was in my mid thirties). Sorry for the off-topic post, but I felt a little enlightenment was needed here.

Thanks! Wish it was that way here. I HATE pumping gas.

  9. From the shore to Philly to New York City, Jersey girls rock!

    (We just don’t pump gas!)

    Sorry not cruise related!

Seriously? We are from Kentucky and visited family in Connecticut July of last year. My now ex-sister-in-law and brother-in-law drove from New Jersey to see us. My ex-SIL, took my 12 yr old daughter to Starbucks and stopped for gas on the way back. My DD had to pump the gas because ex-SIL (almost 40 yrs old) didn't know how. I was shocked and thought she must have a pampered life! It's against the law for a 12 yr old to pump gas in Kentucky.

  10. I did an 8am to 1pm port visit last fall, essentially we were at Maya Chan from about 8:45am until 11:45am. I could have stayed all day!

They will be open while your ship is in port, they will even adjust their hours if your ship is delayed or has to port earlier than scheduled. Well worth it!

Did you feel this short amount of time is worth it? I have a reservation on July 26, 2018. Our ship, Magic, is only in port from 7:00 - 2:00.

I made my reservation August 29, 2017 for my July 26, 2018 trip.

  11. That is correct. They just need to keep the app running so the chats will come through. Otherwise they won't come through until you open the app again.(At least in my experience). - When I say this, I mean keep it running in the background, don't close it when you're done using it. You can still lock your screen and put it in your pocket.

    Thanks! This is great.
