  1. Looking forward to the food on QM2, but I can say that the worst meal I have ever had was on Oceania. Steak...how can a first class kitchen make a steak into something so tough that it could not be cut. The desserts were fabulous.

  2. I am one of those people who do not use the hand sanitizers, the alcohol based sanitizers give me a rash.

BUT I carry a non-alcohol spray sanitizer in my purse that I use after reading the menu. Why after reading the menu? They never clean those menu folders, who knows what evil lurks on the faux leather.

  3. This is from the What to Pack blog linked to a Welcome e-mail

    Women’s Packing List

As you may know, Oceania Cruises has an elegant casual dress code. This simply means you should pack:

    • Cocktail dresses or skirts and blouses for The Grand Dining Room and specialty restaurants

    • Blouses and nice shorts for evenings at Terrace Café

    • Sundresses – great for transitioning from day to evening with a wrap or cardigan

    • Casual shirts and tank tops to pair with shorts, capris or comfortable pants for excursions

    • A light cardigan, pashmina or wrap, especially for dining and ashore

    • Small clutch or crossbody bag.

I think somebody at Oceania has to cross check documents.

  4. Good Evening.

I just wanted to tell you guys what I do with any extra totes I get...I donate them to the local food bank. The clients can have the heavy weight bags instead of the plastic ones recycled from groceries.

When I go to conferences and they give you your materials in a logo messenger bag, I donate those to the Local neighborhood council along with some school supplies.

I sometimes see students coming from school with one of the messenger bags...better use than gathering dust in my spare room.

Can’t wait to go on my first Qceania Cruise.

  5. Hi there! I have a quick question for you. I got some help from others on the boards, but have one follow up. I’m sailing on Anthem right after you get off for their 5 day itinerary. My question was about clock changes because Bermuda is an hour ahead of EST. Based on your cruise planner, it looks like you stayed on EST and then when you left Bermuda, clocks went back an hour. Is that accurate? Just trying to figure out timing for excursions, etc. thanks!

Times change at 2AM. Everyone from the Captain to the servers remind you to change your watches when necessary and there is a clock with the correct time listed as you leave the ship.

You do not have to calculate time changes. ( I worried about the time change thing, too. )

  6. wow...thread full of busybodies

If the dog isnt crapping, barking or biting around you who gives a damn? Mind your business and enjoy your vacation.

I give a damn because I have severe allergies to dog dander. A few dogs on the ship are okay. One dog having been quartered in the cabin I am currently boarded in will be uncomfortable, but I can handle it.

But if the ship ever becomes a floating kennel, will no longer be able cruise...dander pollution.

I am minding my business, but it is also a necessity to be aware of how your decisions impact others.

  7. I once overheard someone at the purser desk asking when they could change their money into Alaskan Money.

Reminds me of being in Hawai'i and hearing a woman announce: Be sure to put USA after Idaho in the address. We are outside of the US.

  8. Room safe hint: get quart size ziplock bags place all important papers, cash, wallets, jewelry in the bags and place in the safe. That way, you just grab the bags and go. Use only one or two bags. If you have a large portfolio bag, that is even better since everythinwill fil on one bag.

Large Post it notes to leave messages for family or the room Stewart.

    Tea lights for night lights.

Old room key cards to place in the light/AC slot.
