1. What a great deal! I have been on and off this thread for years and just popped back on because I was invited this week to join a friend for a Windstar cruise to the French and Italian Rivera in mid-October, which I soon learned can be a rainy time of year. So, I was on a hunt for a jacket too that would be good for traveling and water resistance as well as stylish.

It must be a good time to buy jackets, as I just found this waterproof one on ebay (retails for $295) for just $28, plus $6 for shipping:

So it seems like these hot summer months are a good time to get a deal if you are planning ahead and getting in on some so what is left from last season's stock.

I got my jacket at Cosco, perfect for a cruise, mine is in red...Love it!!!!

2. I have a gel nail kit that I do at home. I have been doing gel pedicures for years now -- it would be really hard for me to go back to a regular polish pedi now. My gel pedi lasts 3-4 weeks. I usually only have to change it because it has grown out so much. It stays looking great--very shiny and no spot rubbed off the top of my big toe nail.

What kind of Gel Nail kit do you have and where can I get one?

3. Thanks for the info about the escape, were scheduled on Carnival Pride next on May 1st because we want to here Journey play in concert in Bahamas...In November5th were doing a 12 night on the new Carnival Vista out of New York to the Caribbean . Really looking forward to that. I'm starting to Lay out and make lists for packing, a little early I know but I love the planning of it. I really enjoy hearing all the fashion ideas.

4. Yes or no to packing cubes for the suitcases and why??

Thanks!

Hi! Debbie,

I love packing cubes, got the Idea from Samantha Brown. Started watching her on the travel channel, great shows about her taking cruises and giving you info....She's also on utube and sells alot of her line on H.S.N. shopping network. So glad you brought this up, someone always has new ideas!!!!

5. Hi Ladies. I was wondering if you all would help me. I love this thread and think you all have great taste. I purchased this red dress for my Dec cruise. I have these 3 pair of shoes. Which pair would look the best?

I am not good with picking out shoes and jewelry. PLEASE HELP!! Sorry about pics. I don't know how to fix.

Silver!!!!!

6. I ordered the Jack Rogers sandals from Zappos. Free delivery & returns' date=' so thought why not?-----just got them in and LOVE them! Great quality and nice workmanship. I tried them on with shorts and dresses and they work with everything!! I will take a tip from the reviews and break them in before I cruise

(I have time before Oct 27 on Breakaway).

CateW--Glad to hear you enjoy the brand. I am already looking at the other colors:)[/quote']

I'm going on the Breakaway Oct. 6th. Can't wait. Love your shoes. Great choice!!

7. Red is my favorite color, although I haven't found the perfect one for myself. I have the wheat brow powder in the Clinique and love it.. Hope you do too.My sons wedding is in two weeks from today, so excited. Then start packing for our cruise that's three weeks later, can't wait!!! Also noticed your hair, looks great!!

8. I assume people will look. Harsh comments are what I do not want. It actually looks really good with my dress and with my makeup done right.

Or I could just have fun with it... after all, I'll probably never see any of those people again after the cruise! :)

I'm going on 56, I think, and other people tell me, I dress with class and a little something that pops!!!! If you don't especially on a cruise, it's boring. They use to have theme nights on cruises, they were fun too. I think you'll look great. I'd love too see pics, maybe you could show us pictures on cruise critic fashionista's. Anyway, go for it and have a great time!!:)

9. Someone mentioned the Neon Party. Yes, it was that on the Breakaway in June, instead of a White Hot Party. I had only taken white things to wear for the White Hot Party. That was fine because many people were in white. However the neon clothes and accessories were really neat to look at. The party on the Breakaway was outside on the H2O deck, and they used a black light I think to enhance the neon effect. It really was pretty! The younger people seemed to be prepared for it and wore some crazy outfits, yet they looked good!

If you want to do the Neon thing, then just wear your white and put on a neon scarf, or necklace or something like that. You will not be out of place in just white though! Or take some glow bracelets or necklace. They passed some out at the party....as far as they would last.

I'm going on it October !! Can't wait. About the eyebrow powder, I have the same problem, my eyebrows are getting so thin, I now use Clinique. Comes in all colors. I'm pretty sure under $20.00 and last for months!!

Did everyone get to Macy's today?? 25% off almost everything, with a $5 dollar donation to the March of Dimes, you get a coupon! Awesome sale!!!!. I got 2 clutches, 1 Michael Kors tote , 2 cocktail dresses and 3 beach cover- ups. Have to show pictures sometime, but I'm not good at knowing how to put them on here yet. Thank's everyone, I so enjoy reading your threads. Indiana 71, you really make this fun!!

10. :) missed you on the thread!!! So glad you weren't on the cruise with the fire.

And this is the dress from TJ Maxx...not sure if it will cruise again...Do you think it's a little "young", not really age appropriate?

This is my first time on here, have been following this thread daily for a while , had to read all to catch up. I have enjoyed your stories of fashion, I go on a cruise once a year for about the past 13 years... This year we will go on a second. Recently switched over to NCL and love it. October were going on the new Breakaway out of NewYork. I know your on a cruise right now, can't wait to here and see your outfits and how your mani held up. Appreciate all your Fashionista advice. Love it!!!!!!:D

I did it today! Had an appointment at a different salon for a mani. Talked with the owner about a gel manicure and decided to go for it. He used CND shellac and so far (3 hours), it's great! I couldn't get over the fact that my nails were dry almost instantly.

If they stay like this, I'll go back before Oasis.

This salon is different from the one at the mall - that one doesn't take appointments so wait time is often an hour. It's much bigger and less personal.

The salon today is owned and operated by a husband and wife who seem to be knowledgeable and friendlier.

Our luggage is packed, ready to load in the car tomorrow evening. I will do my best to remember to have DH take more outfits photos...

12. :)
Hi, I found this thread last night and all my waking time has been spent reading it. I am only on page 28 and might have to give it a rest to eat.
Tom and I have only been on one cruise and our next is not for 647 days. Tom was in the military and we traveled for 26 years for that. I wanted to share a travel tip that I have used for many years.
When we change out of dirty clothes I lay the pants out fold the shirt and lay it on top add the underwear and socks and roll them tightly. This roll then fits in an empty suitcase. This way I make it home with all of our socks and nobody see our dirty underwear.
Indiana, thank you for starting this thread! I have enjoyed going on your trips with you and love your photos!
ChrisRoo, you are so right, I found this thread last week and am catching up as fast as I can. Love fashion, one of the most important parts of any vacation is the fashion, if I do say so myself. You girls have made this extra exciting for me. I've been on many of cruise's never found a good fashion thread like this!!! This will be first time on NCL's Gem 1/9/13. Our first cruise was on Norwegian Sea in, after that mostly on Carnival!!!! They all had formal nights. I'm not sure about this cruise but I love dressing up. Does anyone know the protocol ???? And is anyone going on my next cruise??? Thank you for this starting this thread, can't wait to read more!!!:)
