  1. On the first sea day there was a "show" in the theater that described the "murder." Suspects were named and they each gave their alibis. Then you had to attend certain events (like the captain's welcome aboard party) throughout the week to get further clues. You also had to solve an anagram in the Fun Times each day. Then on the second to last day of the cruise you turned in your guess as to who the murderer was and which weapon was used. The winner was announced to the entire ship and presumably won some prizes.

We attended the initial meeting, which was very entertaining, but decided not to participate because we didn't want to be locked into attending things we may not have really wanted to do. So, I don't know much more than what I wrote above. Maybe someone who participated can chime in here. It did look like a fun game, though.

  2. Carnival needs to make paper signs. " Pardon me, but I am away and am holding this chair. I left at ------and understand that the chair is mine only for 30 minutes if empty. After that time, please feel free to have a crew member gather my items for safekeeping." It will do one of two things...clear up the problem, or give the CHOG some exercise, changing the times. If it is left blank, feel free to put in a time of your liking!

I almost made signs like that for myself before our last cruise. I may do it for the next one.

  3. A few months ago I made a trip to Phoenix from Austin. Three hour delay on the trip out, and the trip home took TWENTY hours (it only takes 15 hours to drive!). There was no bad weather. Both sets of delays were caused by mechanical issues.

Needless to say, we are planning to fly the day before our next cruise.

  4. I find it disheartening to learn that Carnival no longer provides live music and dancing at the alternative dinning experience. On the Legend six years ago (I think they called it the Supper Club) I found it to be a wonderful respite from the crowds. It provided the dinning passenger with an intimate, relaxed, sophisticated 2.5 hour dinning experience. The food, the service and the atmosphere was excellent. I hope that the Steakhouse is not a hurried 'get them in and get them out' type of dinning experience.

It is definitely not a hurried meal. I've done it twice now and each time was at least 2.5 hours. I'm sure we could have indicated that we wanted to go a bit faster, and the wait staff would have accommodated us, but we enjoyed the leisurely pace. We never had any sense that they wanted to turn over our table or be done with us.

  5. Ooopsie...I wonder if I got a stronger drink because we tip the bartenders extra interesting....

Kazbar my question is whether the cheers program is worth it or is it, I know they add a lot of mixer, the other question is if they know your part of the cheers program if they put more mixer in the drink just like goduckies05 just mentioned.

Cheers customers get exactly the same drinks as everyone else, with one exception: they will not serve DODs in souvenir glasses. So the glasses for DODs will look different, but the contents will be exactly the same.

You will not know by looking at other guests' drinks who has Cheers and who does not.
