I think there will be plenty of space.  I was in a 9th deck Aurea cabin on Seaside and noticed there was enough space for my upright suitcase between the night stand and the closet.  Bed was in queen configuration, there was at least three feet between the night stand and the end of the couch on the other side.  EM

    Thanks 🙂

  2. We are travelling on MSC Seaview in June and have one of our cabins requested as a twin but I cannot find any pictures or videos of a cabin on deck 9 in aurea.

Has anyone been in one and maybe has some pictures or a video showing how much space is round the bed?

    Thanks

    Congrats to the wonderful review!...

Can you remember where they had piano music for regular passengers? I've read elsewhere they had it at Raj Polo during the UAE time, is it still there, or elsewhere? And what about TSL for YC, what kind of music did they have there?

    Many thanks!...

We sat in the raj tea room a few times, really nice venue, has an inside and outside area.

Piano played in the afternoon around 3pm when we were there.

I'm YC TSL, it was mostly a duo act with two young guys, not a bad voice but music a bit dreary for me!

One day we had a guitarist (same one as we saw in the master of the seas), he was excellent.

There is a piano in the TSL but we didn't catch anyone playing but I'm sure they did at times.

    Hope this helps

Thanks for the thorough review Nikodemos. Did you get to try out the Thermal area?  Any impressions about it?  I'm not in YC, but will be sailing on the World Europa soon, so wondering if it's worth paying for the cruise pass to the Aurea Spa Thermal area..

We just disembarked the europa, used the thermal area 3 times in our week.

Two days were port days and it was quiet and last visit was on sea day and it was much busier.

Plenty in there to do and very clean.

Steam room, pool area with vertical water coming down which massages your back, two saunas both with windows overlooking the ocean, ice bucket with chain to pull to release old water over you, Ice room (real snow inside to run over your body), showers with jets, hot and cold foot pools (6) and a mediterrean room (bit like steam room but less steam) and 2 rooms with 4 heated beds in.

Well worth a visit, hope this helps.

If you visit the spa when you board they will show you found the areas before you commit too.

It can only be used in a restaurant where there is an "experience" menu so can't use it on the Chefs Garden. You can go outside the experience menu and the usual rules apply i.e. you pay 50% of the a la cart price.

Thanks, I have been looking for the chefs garden menu, think this may be it (in Italian), is this not classed as an experience menu?

Yes, on the World Europa there are stairs and a YC lift to all facilities of the YC.

For me the YC of the World Europa is too big and there are not enough public spaces.

Thanks, will be interesting to compare to the Virtuosa 🙂

  7. Hi, we have travelled in yacht club a few times and love it.

Have recently booked to go on the World Europa and currently have a cabin on deck 16.

Can someone who has been onboard advise if the deck 16 yacht club rooms have direct access (via stairs or a lift) up to the top sail lounge?

We were on Virtuosa last trip and had to go through a sliding door on our deck, only for yacht club users, to get to our cabins which then meant we could easily get to the top sail lounge and restaurant, there was even a yacht club lift.

    Thanks

How do you get the certificate? Do you just upload a photo of your negative test and your passport?

You upload a pic of the negative lft and fill in your details on their Web page. They ask for pass no ,date of birth, name, address.

Cert came back within about 20 minutes via email.

  9. I have booked abparking for Southampton, is it best to let them take your cases at the car park or shall I keep them and give to the checkin at the terminal?
Last time I went YC via Southampton I was on the train but remember them taking our suitcases at checkin and they brought them straight to our room.
We arrived about 11.30 and was allowed straight on.
If I let the cases go at the car park they could be hours before they arrive I guess?

The way I'm reading it, US citizens, fully vaccinated, no testing required.  Our cruise is to the Caribbean, so that's what I focused on.

Hopefully the UK will follow suit soon, although I have already bought the tests so happy to do them if it helps keep everyone onboard safe 🙂

Just checked web site for any updates, without going into all the details/exceptions - no more testing, we cruise in September, B2B seven-night + four-night.

For UK cruises to Northern Europe, its still showing on their webpage that antigen is still needed, where are you cruising to?

Thanks, yes saw this today. Sailing 2 weeks time and was wondering if MSC would follow some other cruise lines and stop pre testing for Northern Europe. I gather that people have been doing antigen self tests for MSC with certification for some time though.

We sail in 2 weeks time too and wondered the same, will keep my eye on the page, but the tests are pretty cheap so not too bad, and its nice to know that everyone boarding will have tested too.

  13. Looks like the MSC UK page has been updated, I am sure this message (in bold) wasn't there before, see below :

Seems to clear up that MSC will accept self-test kits as long as they provide a cert, e.g. Randox, UKHealthTesting, etc.

    Cheapest I could see is via UKHealthTesting @ £8.75 - https://ukhealthtesting.com/product/pre-cruise-rapid-antigen-test-lft/

    Hope this helps someone 🙂

Has anybody tried this company? We have been looking at using these but am very confused about the testing requirements and if it needs to be monitored https://ukhealthtesting.com/pre-cruise-covid-testing/

It says on their website that MSC accept their tests, also mentions Southampton port so looks good.
I spoke to MSC and they said you can do the test at home but must get a certificate to present at checkin.
    Hope this helps.

  15. Hi all, been on RC before but never bid for an upgrade.

I am booked with 2 other cabins, all the same category CB, but when I try the Royalup webpage with my last name and booking ref I just get the generic error about 'Please ensure your sailing is within the next 30 days'. We travel in 3 1/2 weeks time.

Both the other two cabin bookings can log in fine and put bids in so it cannot be availability.

All were booked at the same time through the same TA.

I called customer services who couldn't help and suggested emailing royalup@rccl.com which I did but no acknowledgement nor a reply.

Anyone know of a way to get my booking checked as I'd really like to put some bids in ?

    Thanks

    Richard
