  1. I see that one of the excursions offered on our Fall 2023 Cruise that includes an overnight in Quebec City is a stop in a place called the Sugar Shack.  Is it a tour worth taking? It supposedly includes a meal and entertainment.  Thank you.

  2. We're going on the Summit in September. I have heard some slightly disturbing news from a video I saw on YouTube. And then I had it confirmed by my Celebrity PCC. Beginning in January (so it's policy now) ALL orders (except continental breakfast) made for Room Service will be subject to a $10.99 SERVICE CHARGE per order. This supposedly is FLEET WIDE.  My wife and I don't order a lot of room service when we cruise, but it was a nice option to have. This SUXXXXXX.......  It's not a deal breaker by any means but it makes me wonder how many OTHER ways they're going to dream up to "nickle-and -dime" us???

  3. I'll try to be brief as possible.   Back in July of 2022 my wife's sister and brother-in-lay took a cruise on the Joy. As a present to them we ordered through their gift department a "Captain's Choice Wine Package" to be in their cabin upon departure.  Weeks later in casual conversation we found out that they never received the package.  Ever since then I have been in contact with several different departments concerning a refund and have been getting a Norwegian "run-around" with nobody seeming to know or care about what to do to get our refund. Perhaps I have been contacting the wrong people, I don't know.

In any event, could anyone possibly know someone we could email or call to possibly get results?  I know $50 doesn't seem like much, but my wife and I are on fixed incomes and sure could use the money. Thank you!!!

  4. My wife and I will be on the Summit in September this year to Canada/New England.  Also, first time on Celebrity. We have started to look at shore excursions and find that, specifically for Bar Harbor, there are only 7 excursions listed, and FIVE of them are already sold out!!!  Is that normal for Celebrity? And will more be possibly added closer to the sailing date? Any suggestions on using a site like Viator, or Tours By Locals?  Thank You!!!

Correct, at this point if it's on the schedule I wouldn't worry about it. My comments were based on your comments about how Bar Harbor relies on cruise traffic. Bar Harbor would be very happy if the cruise ships skipped the port altogether.

Very doubtful this will happen...Bar Harbor depends quite a bit on the cruiseship tourists during the limited season they visit there.

  6. From what I understand, specifically for September and October of 2023, Bar Harbor will be limiting the number of daily cruise passengers on shore to 3,800.  This MAY be a problem for the day my cruise visits because there ae there currently TWO ships scheduled to dock that day, and the capacity for the two ships exceeds capacity by about 450-500 passengers.  I contacted my PCC about this, and he said he was aware of it, and would keep me in the loop on what is decided.  Guess I just have to wait it out and hope they can work it out.

We are in the same dilemma, with just two weeks until final payment is due for our Norway cruise on Apex.  It's not the catching of the virus so much as the possible quarantine situation on the ship.  The Diamond Princess did not seem to quarantine people very effectively at all.

At the moment we are thinking of cancelling, but will wait as long as possible in case the situation changes.

All due respect, it's not going to change much in 2 weeks.  Relax and enjoy yourself.  Like that old Doris day tune...…"Que Sera, Sera".

Another question...How early do they start letting people off the ship? Wondering if I could make a 10 am flight.

If you talk to a Celebrity rep, they would recommend against it STRONGLY.  If you were to ask me, I would recommend against it even MORE strongly.  Don't know what port/airport this involves, but I would not recommend any EARLIER than 11:30 at best.

  9. The Signature Suites are a good value IMO (size for price). However, since you are doing a Panama Canal cruise, I would highly recommend one of the aft-wrap Neptunes (deck 5 is my favorite, but they are all great). You get a great view of the locks operation from them plus you get great views from the one side and the rear.

We are going to be in a Neptune Wrap-Around Deck 5 Suite on out Partial Canal trip in November. I am excited that you like it. Ant other experiences/recommendations that you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

  10. I'm a little skeptical about a seafood restaurant on a cruise ship. I'm a huge fan of all seafood, but I'm a fan of fresh seafood. I would assume that in order to serve it for a week it would mean everything has to be frozen. Now I know that most fish is flash frozen when it's caught and some things are fine after being frozen. But for something like a raw bar, I would think it needs to be fresh.

I don't know by any means of they will do it on this ship, but some ships gather fresh seafood at each port they visit on a cruise. They make deals beforehand and/or shop at well-known local distributors and pick and choose what they like.

  11. Hurricane season officially runs through November 1st, so there IS a risk when you go through the Caribbean that time of the year, but in the Canal area you will be too far South to encounter Hurricanes. If you are getting a good deal, that is one of the reasons why, but I say "go for it".

  12. With all due respect to g&gtravel, milk (almond or otherwise) has not much, if anything to do with a gluten-free diet. Glutens are found in grains such as wheat, barley, and rye, etc. I am curious about this as well, as my wife needs gluten-free foods and we will be on the Zuiderdam next March.

  13. Do you mean SA? The SS are not able to use the Neptune Lounge. The SA are bigger than these SB in room size but not as large on the balcony.

It's good everyone likes something different. Otherwise they would never fill a ship because everyone wanted to same rooms.

I had wondered if I was offered an upsrll to the Pinnacle Suite if I'd even take it over my aft corner and decided I would not....but they filled anyway so no decision had to be made :)

We just booked an SB Suite. It is listed as a Pinnacle Suite (SB 5191). It does have a wrap-around balcony. At least it's SUPPOSED to. ;)

  14. We have been on the partial transits of the canal twice in aft Neptune Suites. They are the very best. We didn't need to leave our balcony during the entire transit process. I only left our balcony and visitors to pick up Panama Buns from the Lido Market for all.

Here is a link to the photographs from our aft balcony:

Thank you for all the wonderful info. We booked 5191. Can't wait!!!!

  15. 2nd time on HAL, and first time on Zuiderdam. My question: Does anyone have an experience to share concerning an Aft-Facing corner Neptune Suite???? This will be our first experience in a Neptune Suite and it's an 11-Day Partial Panama Canal transit next March. Any experiences/advice would be helpful and appreciated. Thanks.

  16. Anyone have experience using the Aft-Facing Corner Neptune Suites? We will be sailing on the Zuiderdam next March and this will be our first experience in a suite. It will be an 11-day Partial Canal Cruise. It seems like a good place to view the canal at least part of the time as we go through. Also, do the benefits provided for a Neptune Suite make it worthwhile? Not going to switch out, but just curious.
