  1. Lol. Thanks Zoncom. I was really just trying to start a convo on the topic. I can't believe a site actually exists.

I always enjoy humor. Like you I am looking for people who are single cruisers.

I'm in my seventies and have cruised several times as a single cruiser. I always enjoy meeting and talking with other people.

Best of luck and liked your new thread.

    Thanks.

  2. I'm sailing on Allure on 24 September 2017. First time on this ship, so I'm curious to read about your experience as a solo on her.

    Good morning all,

I will be cruising solo on the Grandeur of the Seas on March 18, 2017 out of Baltimore. Is anyone else going solo on this cruise?

Thanks. Hope everyone has a great day.

  3. Hi Reeve from FL on my way to our next cruise, :D

If you want to go to Fort Sumter, there is only one tour company. The first boat leaves at 9:30 from Liberty Square at the Aquarium. There is a National Parks Service building and display there.

    https://www.nps.gov/fosu/planyourvisit/fortsumtertickets.htm

If time allows, I would recommend a Carriage tour from either Palmetto Carriage or Old South Carriage. Both are good companies. Then I would mill around the Market area and shop or stop in a restaurant for a Drink &/or snack. You'll be just a couple of blocks from your ship.

    Have a great Charleston visit.

Steve, thank you for the feedback. I will get working on it right away. Is there anything else you can recommend that would be worth seeing?

Many thanks. Have a great cruise.

  4. Steve,

Thanks so much for all of the information. When I get everyone onboard with excursions I will write you again. Right now the Roll Call has less than 20 people but as it gets closer, it will pick up.

    Thanks again. Candie

    Hi Steve,

Just saw this blog and I am leaving on March 18, 2017 out of Baltimore with our first stop in Charleston. We arrive on March 20 and are there from 7-4. I have not visited Charleston for over 25-30 years.

I'm interested in seeing Fort Sumpter and anything else you think would be worth seeing in the time allotted. I would appreciate the names of tour companies that you know are reliable and would provide the best opportunity

    to see Charleston.

Thank you in advance for the blog and your help.

  5. We will be driving East on I-70 to the Port of Baltimore for an upcoming cruise on April 17th. The 17th is the Monday after Easter Sunday. (I read that this is the last cruise before the Grandeur dry dock' date=' but the timing of this cruise worked out well for us.)

Is the parking procedure: drop off luggage, pay attendant upon parking lot entry (Mastercard/Visa ok?), park car, walk to terminal with carry-on bags?

What is the earliest time that you would suggest getting to the port (we like to arrive early) and what is the "typical" boarding time (assuming no delays that are out of the ordinary.)

Are the following directions good, or would you suggest any changes based on traffic, construction, date, time, etc. How well does GPS routing do to get to the Port (we typically use Waze and Garmin.)

    South Locust Point Cruise Terminal

    2001 East McComas Street

    Baltimore, MD 21230

    Traveling from points West:

    Follow I-70 East toward Baltimore.

Merge onto I-695 South (Baltimore Beltway) via Exit 91A.

Travel 5.2 miles and merge onto I-95 North via Exit 11A.

Travel I-95 North for approximately 4.9 miles to Exit 55, Key Highway.

Once you exit stay straight for approximately .08 miles on East McComas Street.

Cruise Maryland’s Terminal entrance is on the right.

    Thank you![/quote']

I'm sailing on the Grandeur on March 18.

The directions are fine. When you get to the terminal, which will be on your right, you pull up and an attendant comes out asks a few questions then tells you to travel around to your right. They will take your luggage first, then follow the directions and you pay for parking, Master/ Visa ok, then turn left go in front of the terminal and the parking will be right in front of you. Someone will be there to assist as to where to park. Then take your carry on's into the terminal.

I usually arrive around 10:30 AM and generally you can board around 11 or a little thereafter.

Hope this helps. Have a great cruise.

  6. Amazingly I have ignored this thread since forever when it's actually a pretty good idea. Of course people love to differentiate between solo and single but single (and the struggle that goes with it) is real. Best wishes to all the SINGLE solo cruisers out there. Keep cruising. Apparently there are some love stories made at sea. Good luck!

My name is Reeve and I am cruising on the Grandeur of the Seas out of Baltimore, MD on March 18, 2017. I am single and solo. Just wanted to know is there anyone else, single and solo, going on this cruise.

    Thanks.

  7. Good afternoon,

I will be traveling solo on the Grandeur of the Seas going to Canada/New England on Sept. 1, 2016 out of Baltimore, MD. Looking for other solo travelers on this cruise. Anyone else going?

    Thanks.

    Reeve

  8. I am single and will be taking solo cruises on Sept. 1, 2016 Canada/New England and Jan. 14, 2017, Southeastern Coast and Bahamas on the Grandeur of the Seas out of Baltimore, MD.

Would there be any single/solo travelers on either of these cruises? If so, please let me know.

    Thank you.

  9. We are sailing on Sept.3, 2015 on the Grandeur of the Seas out of Baltimore to Canada/New England. We have taken this same cruise 4-5 times. On our last cruise, we did a wine tour in Halifax, NS. It was great. I contacted the woman, who was recommended by fellow Cruise Critic members, who gave us our wine tour about doing another tour this coming Sept. She informed me that she is no longer giving wine tours.

My question is this: Can anyone recommend a company and/or an individual who does wine tours in Halifax? Have you had experience or know of someone who has had experience with this company or individual and what were the results?

Any information or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks. Have a great day.

  10. We are cruising to Canada/New England on Sept.3, 2015 on the Grandeur of the Seas out of Baltimore. We have sailed this venue many times and are truly looking forward to doing it again. The last time we did this cruise, 2013, we took a wine tour out of Halifax, NS with an individual, Heather Kennedy, that was recommended by a fellow Cruise Critic member. When I inquired this time Heather related that she is no longer doing wine tours.

My question is this: Is there any Cruise Critic member who could give me a recommendation on anybody else that is giving wine tours in Halifax? Any information would be very helpful.

    Thank you,

    Reeve

  11. Have a great cruise and please take care of her. We sail on her next Friday:D

Hi Bmore cruiser. How are you doing? Doesn't seem like it has been 7 months since we sailed together. How yours wife, Mom & Dad doing?

Our next cruise is Dec.1 on the Quantum. Hope you have a great cruise.

Take care and keep in touch.

    Reeve
