  1. I would go.  ❤️  But you all are beating a dead horse and saying the same things over and over.

Yes, we will probably have to have a vaccine in place first.  Yes, the ships will have to be less than full.  Yes, there will be different protocols in place.  Yes, ports of call will be limited.

    Yada yada yada.

I would love to get back to cruising.  I have 5 currently booked.  Trying to be optimistic towards this and everything else I love to do.

If we don't see a better future, then we better all just jump off a building now.

  2. I disagree. A shorter cruise doesn't mean you have lower risk of being exposed. You are still with the same people, touching the same things etc.

The only difference is that you would start symptoms once you are home instead of onboard. No way to even try to contain it then.

People not reporting it, would lead to false numbers of Covid free cruises as well.

I also feel that turning over a ship every few days is even more stressful for the staff.

Personally, if I am going to take the risk, I am sailing for at least a week.

I am getting a Carnival cruise with a deposit of $69 on a dirt cheap fare of $856 for 2 adults in 2021.
But the problem is Carnival has lost 4.5 billion dollars in March April May, averaging 1.5 billion a month. This is openly stated in the results.

They are also likely to lose another 6 billion dollars without any income in June July August and September.
After losing 10.5 billion dollars, will they have the cash to run operations and remain in business?

Carnival is worth about 45 billion. Hopefully, they can stay in business. My travel insurance actually covers cruiseline bankruptcy, so I would reimbursed by insurance if the cruiseline should default.

  4. Barcelona is one of our favorite ports - been there a couple of times.

Even if the US made the city a port that Americans could not disembark because of safety reasons, they will still dock there anyway. One of the ports on our first Med cruise back in 98 was in Libya. The only passengers who stayed onboard were the Americans. All the other countries deemed it safe for their citizens to visit, therefore, we still docked there.

You will LOVE Barcelona. Such a great city to walk around in!

  5. I'm saying - what you see online and on facebook is a different story from when you get through to someone on the phone or show up at the hotel. I am NOT trying to burst your bubble, this is a word of caution that almost ALL of the hotels have been taken over by worker bees. I had three reservations cancel after being ASSURED that they were all fine. (for Nov 12-15). We decided to fly to Fort Lauderdale and spend three nights there. Even with flights it was cheaper.
