I have also tried to find out the answer to this question.  Going on the Ruby in March.  No one at Princess can answer. ??  I've decided NOT to pre pay the $14.40 USD gratuity in hopes that it will be $14.40 AUD onboard.  My $1100 USD  OBC is now $1100AUD.  I did pre book excursions and they are in AUD charged to your folio or charge card in AUD (even when the last step before you hit pay says USD.

Brandee, I would love it if you could let me know how the gratuities are handled on your cruise in March. We don’t go until October. I would love it if you would email me when you get back. C y n d e 2 0 @ a o l dot com (someone told me not to type my email so that it links, so no spaces!). Thanks in advance. Have a wonderful trip!

  2. Regarding gratuities on the Australian cruises...we have booked in the US and have the option of prepaying $14.50 per person per day for our 19-day cruise. My question is, what is our best plan, prepay in USD or use OBC credit onboard, which I assume is in AUD?  I am so confused because I’ve never been on a cruise anywhere in the world where the currency onboard was in anything other than USD. My OBC of $200 USD from AMEX Platinum is listed as $200 AUD in my account. This is clearly a bad deal. So if all purchases onboard are in AUD, does that mean that the gratuities will be $14.50 AUD or will they convert and charge us in USD if we wait to pay gratuities onboard?

  3. In the past, one internet package could be shared as long as only one device is logged on at a time. It didn’t matter whether the people were sharing the same cabin or not. We are sailing on April 26, and when I called Captain’s Club to order my unlimited internet package, I was told that by the time we board our cruise, all ships would be updated so that people could share the same internet package and be logged on at the same time. The representative was speaking specifically about me and my husband being able to share one package and be logged on at the same time, so I don’t know if that will be the same for more than two devices at a time.

  4. On the same cruise. Interesting about multi-user capability by the time we sail. Hope it doesn't bog down the system any further. In any case, I haven't called Capt's Club yet but we're also Elite. What was the cost? Thx.

    The cost was $201.

  5. I just called Captain’s Club to order Unlimited Internet for our 15-nt Transpacific departing April 26. I was given the 30% Elite discount, but it was not combinable with the current sale. The interesting thing the agent told me was that by our cruise date all Celebrity ships would allow multiple devices to connect at the same time. So that means that if one person buys a package, multiple people can use it at the same time instead of one person needing to log off before the other can use it. She said this is a direct result of Celebrity listening to what their customers want.

  6. I think this is a way for the cabin stewards to get a head start on preparing the cabins for the next sailing. As passengers, I guess we can’t have it both ways. We don’t want to feel “pushed out of our cabin” at the end of a cruise, but we want our cabins ready as early as possible when we board. Just tell your cabin steward that you need access to the fridge the next morning, and I’m sure he will leave it unlocked.

  7. The Concierge cabins are a little larger than regular veranda cabins on

M Class ships. There is also a special lunch in the main dining room for only Concierge cabins on embarkation day. It is a limited menu, but it’s very nice to be able to put your carry-on bags in a secure place while you have a leisurely lunch until your cabin is ready. The debarkation lounge is a nice perk too.

  8. We did a tour in Mumbai with Reality Tours and Travel. Here is their info: http://www.realitytoursandtravel.com/. We did the Dharavi Slum Tour with Sightseeing. We were picked up at the port by a tour guide and driver. It was a very special day. The Dharavi part of the tour may not be for everyone, but I came away feeling very inspired by the people. I felt like we were visitors, rather than tourists. The people were very nice and proud to show the industry they have developed under difficult circumstances. It was just my husband and I on the tour, so after the Dharavi tour, we treated our driver and guide to lunch in a small local restaurant recommended by our guide. We were the only non-locals there! After, we visited all the local sightseeing spots we could fit in before returning to the ship. We enjoyed really getting to know these two young men during the day. I loved it!

  9. I am currently in the Singapore Changi Airport after a wonderful two weeks on Century's final sailing with Celebrity. It was a really wonderful cruise. The crew members were kind, efficient and fun. I could tell that it was a bittersweet journey for all of them. Some are staying on with the ship after dry dock, as RCL will still be partially staffing the ship for a few years. Otherwise, the crew will all be spread out on different ships. Some of them had been on the Century for years. I thought the ship was in good shape, and I will miss the beautiful classic style and the size.

  10. In 2012, our party of 6 people sailing on Celebrity stayed overnight in Bangkok. We did not take a tour. We arranged everything ourselves, and it worked out great. We stayed at Aurum The River Place, which is located on the river. It was one kilometer to the Grand Palace and 300 meters to Wat Po. Everything was walking distance. The hotel itself was impeccably clean, and it had beautiful river views. It is a small boutique hotel. Gin from the hotel arranged the van transportation to and from the ship. We also prearranged a night foodie tour through Bangkok Food Tours. It was a hoot!

  11. What really amazes me is that there are so many inconsiderate people. I was on another cruise line in the Caribbean. It was beautiful weather every day, and every day I tried to get my lunch at the buffet and sit out by the pool to eat. I never once was able to because the same people "parked" themselves at the poolside tables early in the morning and never left. They lounged there, ate there, played cards there, and napped there. It was clearly their "spot". That was my last cruise on that line. I've never encountered anything that bad on a Celebrity cruise.

  12. We are doing a cruise in April, and we have asked for Select Dining, but have been told we are on a waiting list. This cruise is definitely not fully booked, as it is one that has had an itinerary change and many people originally booked on it have pulled out. Can someone shed some light on this? Is it based at all on the category of cabin booked? We are Select, but have never requested Select Dining before, having always opted for traditional.
