  1. AnnaMaria and her crew was so good on our cruise that they started running out of fruits on day three of our 8 day journey. First raspberries, then blackberries, then blueberries, then strawberries. By day 5 the citrus fruits were the only fresh ones, and the berries were bottled.

We learned on a past cruise that Alchemy will be the LAST place on the ship to run out of fresh fruit for drinks. The ship was running out of fruit, and our bartender said they were the last place on the ship that had strawberries and blackberries.

  2. Yeah this is from my Dream review. I think I had everything in my Dream review. My Dream review should be the “show me your alchemy pics” thread...except it’s just me posting.

THIS!!! Yes... I WILL be trying this! It sounds amazing! Thank you!

  3. We LOVE Alchemy! This is typically where we hang out in the evenings and have met some of the most amazing friends! On our last Carnival cruise, we had the kiddos, so this mama didn't get to visit as much as I would have liked. HOWEVER.... come February, Alchemy will be where it's at! With that being said... please show me your favorite Alchemy beverage. Doesn't have to be something off the menu, because we all know how absolutely wonderful those Alchemy bartenders are... excuse me... mixologists.

  4. Just reading through the internet plans and see that the Social package says it doesn't include iMessage. Is this true? and if so, when did it change, because I'm positive I used iMessage October 2017 with the social plan. If this is true.... it's a real bummer and honestly irks me a bit.

  5. When we brought our 8 month old, we brought along an inflatable bathtub. It worked great for the bottom of the shower for him to splash and get a real bath. We also took it to the pool with us and dumped a couple of buckets of water in it so he could stay cooled off. Of course we did this in a low traffic area not to cause frustration to others, but it worked well.

    Good luck!

  6. We took our son when he was 8 months old. It is TOTALLY doable. I will say that it was much more enjoyable since my mom came with us and offered to stay with him a few nights so that my husband and I could do our thing. But even without her, we would have been fine! Honestly, it was easier to take him as an 8 month old than it was an 18 month old. So go now instead of next year!

As for food, we brought plenty of baby food pouches with us. But the MDR was really good about giving us options for him to try. We ended up taking a ton of pouches home with us. With that being said.... BRING. EXTRA. EVERYTHING. Diapers, wipes, snacks, clothes, bottles or cups, a few favorite toys.

For sleeping arrangements, we let him sleep with us for the week. It was easier than bringing a pack and play and a lot less of a hassle to have to move things around each day. I'm not sure if you're comfortable with co-sleeping. But it worked well for us for the short term.

The staff LOVED him. People around the ship knew my son's name by the end of the cruise without us ever meeting them. To the point where we would go look for pictures and one of the photographers knew exactly where my pictures were because they had been talking about how cute he was (... IS ;)) This could be a really fun time for you guys as long as you know it probably won't be like any other cruise you've taken pre-baby.

I also suggest a balcony cabin because you can still enjoy the ocean if you need to be in the cabin while baby is sleeping. I was able to read and relax on the balcony even though I was confined to our room.

I hope some of these are helpful. But I definitely recommend going!

  7. I was 20 weeks pregnant when we went on a cruise to Cozumel and Progresso. Zika had JUST emerged. So recently that the first time I had heard of it was as we were getting on the ship and they handed us a flyer about it. Did I mildly freak out while checking in? Yes. Did I go with it and change plans accordingly? Yes. We decided to do our beach day in Cozumel all while I stayed lathered in bug repellent. We also decided to stay on the ship while in Progresso. We had a great time and my OB was completely fine with it.

Whatever you decide, I hope you enjoy yourself. And congratulations on the little one!

  8. We will be a party of 5 adults and 2 children traveling from FLL to Miami downtown hotel in March. My question is wouldn’t it be more reasonable to travel by a van-taxi than to request 2 uber X or XL?

    TIA,

    Pittypat

We are using Jiffy Jeff for our party of 6 adults in February. FLL to a south Miami hotel is $100. Not too terrible.

  9. They count when you're a child. I do not know if Carnival has a 'free infant' policy but I would assume that no days are counted if someone is sailing gratis, assuming that exists at all.

Unfortunately, there is no "free infant" policy on Carnival. We are taking our 9 month old next week and paid the 3rd person rate. Hoping to have him Platinum before he's a teenager!

  10. Have you considered investing in a travel bed? With that many people in the cabin I would really want something I could break down and put away when not in use.

We have a pack and play, but will be flying to Houston, and I'd rather not have to bring it if necessary. Is that what you mean by a travel bed?

  11. Hi everyone!

We will be going on the Carnival Breeze in 2 weeks with my 9 month old. We have asked for a crib to be provided. Does anyone know what kind of crib they bring? Is it something they leave in the room the entire week? Or stow it away during the day?

    Thank you!

  12. We've obviously cruised before, as shown in my signature, but almost all Carnival. I asked on the RC page too, so I've gotten a few responses there. But I thought I'd post here too, for those who have maybe done mostly Carnival, but did RC once or twice too. Anyway, if anyone has suggestions for things we might not expect being different between Carnival and RC.

I'm just curious if there's things that may be different, and things we're not expecting. I've already been told by several to not miss the ice show. We did the anytime dining too since the cruise we're taking has really long/late days in port. We're going on an 8-night cruise to N. Europe in July. So the 4 port days are truly like 12-14 hours that we're there. So we didn't want the earlier dining, but didn't want to be tied to the later one either. We did the same thing on our Alaska cruise.

I did find the roll call for this cruise too, so I can get more specific info there I know. Thanks so much!

We have mostly cruised Carnival as well, but went on RCI this past summer. Check on your anytime dining when you got on the ship. On our Freedom of the Seas cruise, we basically had to make a reservation for every night when we boarded. It wasn't like Carnival's anytime dining. However, I believe this varies ship to ship on RCI.

  13. We LOVE Alchemy! Not only do the "mixologists" know how to make drinks to your liking, it's the place we go to meet people. We've met some great friends at the Alchemy bar. We also enjoyed their Martini class during one of the last sea days. They teach you many of their tricks all while getting to make and sample drinks. It's a lot of fun with great people. Usually the class is about 10 people.

I'd at least give it a try! We find it to be the best value for an alcoholic beverage.

My husband is extremely bummed that we will be missing Alchemy on our Breeze cruise next month.

  14. Looks like I mistakenly hit a touchy subject. Thanks for everyone's answers. So it sounds like jeans are fine?

My husband wears a shirt and tie to work every single day. I'm not trying to break the "rules" but don't want to make him completely dress up if not necessary.

    Thanks again!

  15. I've tried looking on here for the answer, but can't seem to find.

I've found on the RCI website the dining room attire, but I didn't know how flexible it was. On other lines, my husband will wear nice shorts and a long sleeved button up with boat shoes. Of course, this isn't for formal nights. Would that fly on Royal?

    Thanks!

  16. Brianna,

Thank you so much for doing another great review! You made this preggo cry in the first 2 posts, and I was hooked! As many others have said, you and your dad had an amazing bond and it showed!

My husband and I just booked this same cruise in 2 weeks, so I'm crazily looking at suggestions and what not. This cruise will be a little bit different from the rest, as I'll be 20 weeks pregnant by then, but that doesn't change from being on a ship!

I'll be checking back to read the rest, as this is great timing for our cruise!

    Thank you!

  17. We used Jamaica for a day and went to The Jewel at Dunns River. It was AMAZING! Beautiful beach, cabanas, all inclusive for the day. We loved it, and it wasn't too far from the port. The Jewel is adults only, but Jamaica for a day offers all inclusives for other hotels too. We definitely recommend them.

  18. Are these 6J's and 6k"s less expensive than a balcony? Also. since they are closer to the bow, how are they with noise or feeling more rocking?

It really just depends on the cruise. I had a 6J booked for our Thanksgiving cruise, but a few weeks later it was about $200 cheaper to get a balcony. As much as we wanted to try this type of room, we decided to go with the balcony!

  19. We never got off the ship in Ocho Rios for this sole reason. We were in Ocho Rios in 2007 and as we were leaving Dunn's River Falls the vendors continued to grab me and pull at me. I have no interest to get off the ship there.

I honestly don't think it's much better. We heard people coming back to the ship saying they wish they had stayed onboard

I heard the same thing when we stopped in Ocho Rios for our honeymoon. We decided to go to an all inclusive for the day at The Jewel at Dunns River. It was the best day of the cruise for us! And believe me... I'm not one to enjoy all of the pushy people. They picked us up inside the port. Drove us to the resort, and drove us back when we were done. It was a great day! Check it out next time you are in Ocho Rios.
