  1. I was just on the Escape and my son ordered the seafood combo which comes with lobster, scallops and calamari. He's only 11 but loves hibachi yet he couldn't finish his lobster or calamari so mom and dad came to the rescue to eat that up! I'm used to cold water lobster so this wasn't as sweet as I'm used to but it was still good. Had a great lobster roll in Boston back in April at Yankee Lobster.

  2. Looks like you and your nephew were the ones behind us lining up to meet the monkeys as well as leaving the port! Nice to "run into you" again on Cruise Critic. Great review. I'm still recuperating and finally slept in this morning. There's no buffet breakfast in my house though lol!

  3. Thanks Doug for a fantastic capture of your week! I have more than 8 months to go before I board the Escape and I'm looking forward to calling the Brew House my home as well :)

I'm sure we'll miss your daily updates unless you want to blog your regular daily life in Rochester LOL.

  4. I was on this sailing too and I wanted to get away from the cold weather but it seemed to have followed us. I thought at least Friday we would have a nice, warm sea day but it was cool and overcast/rainy and seas were a bit rough. It's great not to have to fly to get to the cruise ship but during the colder months, I think I'll fly instead. I've never been to Bermuda so Breakaway + summer months might be the better choice. I can't imagine how this itinerary will be during the very cold, winter months. I wish they had some sort of retractable roof for the pool area.

  5. My son did complain about the "maple syrup" on his pancakes. He refused to eat them and we usually use at home either real maple syrup or even Aunt Jemima. So instead he put chocolate syrup on it (living it up on the cruise!). I liked the fruit compote options at the buffet so I would top my french toast with that instead. Next time I know to smuggle a bottle of real maple syrup on board!

  6. I was on this sailing as well. I remember Friday being particularly rocky. We ate at Le Bistro that night and when it was time for the entree, I was feeling a bit queasy. At least I enjoyed my escargot! Too bad it was too cool for the pool Sun, Mon, Fri and Sat. I thought we'd be able to squeeze in more pool time on Fri but that wasn't the case.

We went up to Spice H20 for the fireworks. It was crowded but if you came in right before the fireworks went off, you'd still be able to find a place to stand. Lots of people left right afterwards since it was very cold. If we went to GSC, the fireworks were supposed to be held that night so the weather would have been warmer.

It was great that Geoffrey Zakarian was onboard! Met him Friday after his Q&A and enjoyed his cooking demo on Saturday. That made the sea days something to look forward to. I even made his risotto with success when I came home Sunday!

I can say that I was never bored on this ship. There's so much to do! My kids enjoyed it even though Splash Academy was always crowded but they liked the kids club and DH and I enjoyed the alone time while they were there! :)

  7. Sorry to hear it's been cancelled again. I was on the ship last week and it would have been my first time at GSC. At least you'll be able to dock in Nassau pretty early. There's so much to do on the ship so we did a lot of the outdoor activities since the weather was finally warm. I wish they'd have a private island where you can actually dock at but it seems like they're investing so much into GSC that they won't find an island that's dockable.

  8. I wish I knew there was no actual separate conditioner before I went on my cruise this past week. I have long hair and it was so tangled after my shower. The shampoo+conditioner formula just didn't cut it out for me. I didn't want to splurge on getting a high end conditioner at the shops so I just tried to painfully comb my tangly hair. DH missed the bar of soaps too so whenever we cruise next on NCL, I will bring my own conditioner and bar of soap!

  9. Thank you so much Zay for your review so far. I'm about to board the Breakaway in a few hours! Getting nervous but hopefully it'll be a smooth sailing. The large scanned dailies are great. Looking forward to reading more once the ship gets to FL and I have cellular service again!

  10. I was able to download and launch it. Of course I haven't used it fully yet since I'm set to cruise in less than 2 weeks. I did find this in iTunes though mentioning the latest release adds iOS 7 support:

    What's New in Version 2.5

    Added support for iOS7 devices.
