  1. Three weeks ago, flying from LAX to EWR in first class, the man behind me was so tall that he kept kicking the back of my calves. He was contorted, doing the best he could, but his legs extended beyond my seat and kept hitting me from underneath.

And let me say, I still have bruises. Nothing could be done, he was very tall and I bruise easily. I'm fluffy, he's tall. We both opted for first class hoping for better accommodations. Sometimes it works, other times not.

We are focusing our frustrations on other travellers, instead we should be ticked at the airlines who squeeze us into the planes. If everyone were a little more understanding and compassionate towards others, it would do much to lessen the trials of air travel.

  2. With at least 2 spontaneous glass incidents, and there could be others not affiliated with CC members, Viking has a duty to the passengers to take immediate corrective action.

If some sort of glass treatment to remedy the problem is unavailable, then remove the glass and replace with shower curtains.

What are they waiting for....luckily so far it's been minimal body injury.

  3. A related question and I hope someone can advise. We are taking a TA this fall, with extended pre cruise time in Italy. Totally we will be away about 6 weeks. I have pain meds, and the doctor provides 4 week prescription, I see him every month. Is it prohibited to obtain a supply longer than 4 weeks.

I'm starting to prepare my packing lists, and after seeing this thread, it's making me wonder if I will have problems.

    Thanks for your advice.

  4. My fall cruise is my first in a disability cabin. I have limited mobility and use a cane and now a rollator when off the ship. Regular cabins are usually ok, it's the bathrooms which are difficult. The step up and through the door is impossible and I need grab bars.

Unfortunately, we haven't been able to cruise as much as we want because the disability cabins are always booked before we try. Maybe with a few more cabins in the mix we will have a better chance of reserving one.

  5. We prefer 2 tops. However once were assigned to a 4 top. We were already seated when the other couple arrived. The husband tried to be pleasant at least he greeted us, however the wife was awful. She kept the menu the entire meal in front of her, whispering to her husband from behind it. Never looked at us or spoke to us.

The only words audible from her, from behind her menu screen, were when they discussed ordering wine, she was vocal about not sharing with us.

We ate as fast as possible and stopped at the maitre d for an immediate reassignment. I pity her family.

  6. You would probably be best served to pre arrange a tour of Tahiti on Sunday. We've been there on Sunday and Le Marche, the market, while open for a brief time, only had flower stalls open. Most everything else was closed.

The island tours take you to the interior, with unforgettable scenery, waterfalls, and views comparable to none. Patric Adventures is who we used, he was charming and provided top notch service.

    Enjoy Tahiti, it's magical.

  7. The first time we cruised to St Thomas we hailed a cab to take us and the kids to Megans Bay. I needed to repeatedly ask the cab driver not to drink beer while driving.

We still talk about Zeus to this day and his attempts to drink and drive. Needless to say we found a different cab to return to the ship.

  8. On a cruise a few years back while I unpacked our carry ons my husband along with our brand new expensive camera toured the ship. He stopped into a lounge for a drink and was heading back to the room when he realized the camera was still in the lounge. Only a few minutes passed but the camera was gone.

He was in rare form when he returned to the room. We went to CS to check their lost and found. No camera. However much later in the day he returned to lost & found and behold the camera.

We are forever grateful to the finder and assume the delay in turning the camera in was due to their wandering the ship after embarkation. This would have been a very sad vacation losing this within the first few moments.

So there are good folks out there....put in a call to both the terminal and cruise line. Follow up with email and maybe you too will be surprised. I am hoping for the best.
