Looking at getting drinks package would it be better to get it the day after our arrival because if we have first day with our late boarding and drills may not get value for money first evening, other days won't be a problem.
Thanks wolf

We are planning on taking the train up and cycling back down, so I have written to the café (where you hire the bikes) about the lack of train tickets. I'll let you know what they reply.

Hi
we would like to arrange our own Flam train tickets but on the Flam web site they are all sold out, there is another site but the tickets are not available to next month,we will be arriving in June and it looks like there is only the Brittania in port, does any one know if tickets are usually available to purchase to avoid the ships expensive excursion.
Thanks

Hi,
I think you can also buy them on the Norwegian railways site.
But I have never done this.
Are you planning to get the train up and straight back down again ?
You may be able to get further info if you post it on the Northern Europe ports of call board I have always had very helpful info from local Norwegians and other experts when I have done so.
Ive looked at that site have to look again in a months time when they release the tickets for June,we may just go one way and cycle back down.
Thanks

Hi Wolf,
Yes you can buy them on the day but sometimes they are sold out.
You can also buy them on the http://Visitflam.com website, it also shows what availability there is at present. They might hold some back for day sale but not 100% confidant on that.

Can you use credit card on local bus or do you need Kroner?

We recently went to Briksdal Glacier by public bus. It departed from Olden Harbour at 10:02 am from a clearly marked bus stop, next to a crosswalk and to the left of the cruise pier. The trip to the glacier took about 40 minutes through absolutely gorgeous scenery of waterfalls and crystal clear lakes. The bus was modern with large clean windows and very comfortable. Our driver made a quick stop along the way (I think for a smoke) and we hopped out to snap some pics. Upon arrival, the bus waited at Briksdalen until 1:30 pm which gave us lots of time to walk to the glacier. You could also take a troll car if you wished. On the return, the bus didn't go into Olden Harbour right away but made a brief stop at the town centre, about a 10 min walk from the cruise pier. Cost was NOK 68 pp on the outbound and NOK 60 pp on the return. Can't beat it.
There was also a Glacier Express Shuttle Bus that ran from in front of the Visitor Info Centre at the cruise pier. Similar to the public bus, it also went direct to the glacier and waited there for about 2 hr before heading back. You could book in advance or purchase on the day. Cost was €45 pp. Do the math and make your decision![/quote
Thanks can you use credit card on local buses or do you need Kroner?
