  1. I also just got the message from Princess that an e-visa is ok for our cruise. I am finding the visa website impenetrable; does anyone know how much they cost forAustralians and if kids are able to get evisas.”

Hi, We have been granted our E-visa for India, we have been informed by Princess that this is acceptable for Cochin, our only port in India.

You do have to be very precise with your application, ensure that your photo is 5x5 and within the correct mb. Also the same applies to your passport page. The cost for Australians is $50 USD which cost us approx $69AUD, sorry didn't need to apply for kids but assume its the same price. It is a pretty easy process and we were granted the visa within 24 hours.

    The official website is https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html

    Hope this helps.

  2. We are in Australia and only have the option of 1 year visas for basically the same price you in the US pay for a 10 year or the new e-visa, which say on them they can be used in both Cochin and Goa ports. We also have to travel to either Canberra or Sydney to apply in person and that is quite some distance from where we live.

Having said all that, we are prepared to do this if it reduces the risk of missing the private tour to the Taj Mahal we have set up.

....We're going in Nov and our cruise line made it very clear that we would need a multiple entry visa. I know it's more detailed to get but I prefer not to be surprised when I get there! ....

Agreed! If you think of it, would you mind posting of your experience going through immigration at the ports. please? I would like to hear first hand how quickly you get through with the regular paper visas. Thanks!

Hi there, are you able to give us any feedback re the India visa, ther are so many different reports it's just confusing.

    Any help is much appreciated.

  3. We just did a segment of a world cruise that stopped in Colombo, Sri Lanka. I also had a terrible time locating much information about Colombo prior to the cruise. After searching for hours, I found a private tour guide in Colombo that took us everywhere the ships tours offered, and more - for about 1/3 (maybe 1/4) the price. I don't want to say how much in case it has changed, but it was crazy reasonable. The guide's name is Dilhan. His tour company is Dilhan's Awesome Adventures. The website is DilhansAwesomeAdventures.com / phone is 94 71 300 1374. He is listed on TourHQ and has a few reviews on TripAdvisor. He was excellent. Oh my gosh, beyond excellent. Perfect English. Knows everybody. Not pushy at all. Great sense of humor. Bought us lunch! (no kidding) We have taken 54 cruises so far and this was one of our very favorite port days. He will take you anywhere you want to go. If you don't know where you want to go, just let him take you around. Sri Lanka was our biggest surprise on this cruise. We had no idea what to expect. We absolutely loved it and want to go back. The port is seriously 'lacking' but after you get out of the port, it's a fun place. Contact Dilhan. He is really wonderful.

Thanks so much for this, we are visiting in March on Sapphire Princess so I am now starting my research.
