Hi good call for a Riverside hotel. The Chatrium Riverside is worthy of consideration. River view suites are large quiet and comfortable, great breakfast. They are currently upgrading the rooms and are working up from the lower floors. If you want to pre book any tours you could try Wandee Wandee@wandeetours.com. You could book tours that include round trip  transfers from the port or just do transfers. 

Chatrium location is good for getting around, 15 minute walk to Asiatique and hotel has own ferry in opposite direction to Taksin pier about 10 minutes.

Hi another guide worth considering is Wandee of wandeetours.com. Great guide and fair prices. She arranges many tours from the ports. We have had a few very high quality interesting trips with her.

Always good to stay overnight in Bangkok if possible.

Hi I don't think you have said which month you plan to arrive. The world weather patterns are topsy turvy but still worth checking weather expectations for the period you arrive. There are differing monsoon periods between Phuket and Koh Samui. Have a great Thai visit fabulous place

Hi we have also stayed at the Chatrium. Good quality hotel with very comfortable beds. Morning starts with a great breakfast. As Southernbreezes observes the shuttle boat easy and convenient is good to be close to but away from the centre of Bangkok. We took the advice of our guide Wandee, spot on very good place to stay. Worthy of consideration!

Hi Certainly recommend an overnight in Bangkok, journey time from the port to city is a couple of hours each way and can be a little more if traffic unkind. Hotels Riverside such as " Chatrium Riverside" are very good, and a little less frenetic than those city centre. Also a good location for an evening visit to Asiatique if that took your fancy. Your arrival time can influence your Bangkok tours, but a must see is the Grand Palace and I think Was Pho is worthy of some time and perhaps take a traditional massage whilst there. Good to do some research on what you would like to see and do.

So much to see, do and eat in Bangkok,it is tempting sometimes to cram in too much, a mistake I made first visit. Have a fantastic time am certain that you will.

Hi the Death Railway is about 140 km out from Bangkok little over 2 hours each way add that to a similar journey time to Bangkok and you would spend a lot of time on the road for a day trip.

If you want to go it alone or make up your own party you could make contact with local guides for a cost and itinerary from the port or Bangkok.

Hi we booked a Hotel for a couple of days and hired a local guide, she met us from the port and transferred us to Bangkok. We did a city tour and in the evening a dinner cruise, the Loy Nava, which was very good. Then we did a day trip out to the River Kwai , fascinating!

Well worth the effort to visit the River Kwai, Hellfire Pass is unforgettable, a long day but as I said worth the effort, saw things never to be forgotten!

The Chatrium Riverside is worthy of consideration, a River View suite is excellent and spacious . Peaceful and comfortable love the beds. The staff are all first class and do want their guests to relax and enjoy their stay. A short boat ride to and from the Skytrain or easy to arrange for a taxi. We have stayed their a few times now and have never had a bad experience.

Hi late reply but just looking through for some cruise information. Me and my partner have hired Wandee for a few tours in and around Bangkok. Consistently reliable and very good company. She goes out if her way to ensure guests have a good time and get what they expect from her tours. She seems to go that extra mile to help. My lady was not 100% on one day!
