  1. What you propose is absolutely doable in fact you could leave at 9.30 if you preferred less time hanging around FCO.

I do not remember specific timings but certainly you would be out of the cabin by 0800. There are any number of car companies as this is a well trodden route. Romecabs.com is one Of many I have used in the past.

I know, very confusing.  I do tend to think American jam is more like jelly (sorry).  The only real one which can cause embarrassment is of course fanny, but we will draw a veil over that.  I have had one very awkward discussion on a hosted table with an American clergyman's wife on that topic, and no wish to repeat it.

I also had a bit of explaining to do when I spoke to the New York office after a holiday and told them I had spent the previous week on the Norfolk Broads!

  3. Sorry to hear of your problems wren and hope you get resolution.

I see you must have been in Greek waters about a month ago and would be interested to hear of the covid protocols. We boarded Spirit yesterday in Venice and hit Greek waters in a few days time. Upon boarding we received a letter on Covid protocols from the captain stating that Greek authorities require mask wearing on the ship at all times when in Greek waters either indoors or outside.

This is the first I have heard of such a ruling and I bumped into the cruise director who knew nothing and told me and the situation was the same as in all other waters.

    Your comments would be appreciated.

  4. Received from SS today instructions for joining on 1st July sailing shows they will NOT provide pier-side testing at Venice and failure to provide satisfactory test results will result in denial of boarding. Presume this will apply to all departures from EU countries until the EU change their requirement.0CBCCE86-40D9-4F1B-93EC-1B67CEDD9FF1.thumb.png.a00457cffb1c046139d603bd0e02bd3d.png

  5. I had 3 cruises booked at the time any many taken ones showing on my silversea which holds passport information but have heard nothing. Could be that I have not been contacted as I always use a TA so my financial dealings are with them. My only financial transactions with SS are the final account onboard.

    However seems very badly handled.

  6. I am boarding in Europe this month and got my TA to check with SS who confirmed quayside testing with no fee up to end of May.

Much can change before you go  but I would refer you to the SS website home page. Click on  the ‘Healthy Sailing’ button and you will see specific reference to Alaska.

  7. Those who know Moss will know the story but I will not let on to those that do not.

Interviewed by Jane Garvey on BBC.co.uk/News/World-Africa-60841291 well worth a listen. Sorry but not tech enough to give a proper link.

  8. I would think you have a 99.5% chance of a clear run and no problem. The M25 motorway can have its moments but if you are in a private car with live sat nav they should be able to cope with any problems O.K.

We once had a trip back from Heathrow with a major hold up but the satnav took us off and round country lanes with not too much time lost.

    From TA:

We asked the group coordinator at  Silver Sea about guests arriving prior to embarkation and here was their reply:

What about the guests going in early before embarkation day? Are they to make their way to the Fusina pier on their own and be tested there right?

    A-Yes .

You will not be able to check in at the previous Marittima port.

I appreciate this has come from SS but I would be very careful. Fusina is nothing but a commercial port/ferry terminal. There were no facilities I could see to even consider checking in and being tested there.
