  1. Watch some videos on Youtube to give you a better idea of what to expect from a 4 day. But having sailed on both, you will definitely get Frat Party atmosphere on a Carnival cruise especially on a 4 day in March during the height of Spring break for Florida schools. Typically Celebrity would not be a frat party crowd but 4 day cruise during Spring Break, I would expect to find a large group of children/high schoolers and College age children.

  2. Headed to Celebration this Sunday and recently sailed on the Wonder of the Seas. I will come back and let you know. After seeing Youtube videos and reading comments, the Celebration's rooms seem to be smaller and also certain venues on Celebration are smaller but they have more selections for entertainment, pools, and dining choices which make up for space/crowds. The only complaint I have heard online regarding Celebration's capacity issue are the elevators. There seems to be a long wait and they only hold 9 passengers at a time. Many people choose the stairs where possible.

  3. I have read on a different forum that if you want to get some type of casino offer, you need to spend a minimum of $300 (some cruiselines consider bingo gambling as well). Also time spent in the casino is as importanat as amount spent. $300 over an hour is better than $300 in one hand. If slots, then progressive, max spend is the better way to go.  There are groups on FB that talk about it. I am no expert, I just play for fun. I wholeheartedly agree with Lesson # 5 above.

  4. Have never flown into Port Canaveral as we live in Florida, so refer to the other forums for info.

They say 8am, but they always arrive early, and start early disembarkation, if you are in a hurry, carry all of your luggage off. I would suggest an late morning/early afternoon departure, as it is possible to get off the ship by 9 am at the latest, and make it to the airport by 10am, and 30min to 45min to check-in.

There are small safes in the closet area, for a tablet, ipad, wallet, passports, but nothing bigger than those items.

the cruise ship has a recommended amount that they actually will charge to your onboard account, if you are happy with it, then just leave it on your account, if not you can adjust it as needed or remove it entirely, and hand the gratuities in person.

Depends on your budget, but we normally bring $150-300, for off ship purchases/casino funds, and room service tips.

They provide pool towels by the pools and in your room, that you take off the ship.

Check the cruise ship website for the hairdryer info, some do and some dont, but they are small and not very powerful.

  5. Walking shoes/ tennis shoes, flip flops for the pool/beach, low/medium heels for formal nights, preferably black. Certain ports the roads are bumpy, and sandy, and open toes will be uncomfortable on long treks. the champion line makes a nice walking shoe that you can purchase at any Payless, some are open back

  6. Listen to all the BAD Reviews on this site and do not use Premier Parking in Fort Lauderdale. It is not near the cruise port, nor the airport, and the wait for the shuttle is at least 45 minutes. The shuttle once they picked us up at the cruise port, circled the port several times to pick other passengers, taking an additional 30 minutes to begin the drive to the port parking which was located on the other side (west) of I-95. They did not drive directly to the cruise port, but dropped other passengers to the airport first, so if you are inn a rush to get to your car, then do not use them, because this is the wrong service.

When we arrived, they could find our vehicles and spent 15 min looking for keys then the car. They used another vehicles that was parked there to drive around the small unpaved parking lot, so watch the mileage on your car, when you drop the car to park. The biggest mistake we made was not to walk around the car, prior to leaving the lot. You know it, there was a scratch on the front driver's side bumper. You get what you pay for, it's worth paying a few dollars more, for security, responsibility, and timeliness.

My advice is you are daring enough to use this service is : Be Patient, do not use your GPS to find the lot, because you will get lost, have a copy of your keys (in case they lose yours), and CHECK YOUR CAR PRIOR TO LEAVING THE LOT.

  8. Would like to clarify, they are good on any cruise, but not any rate.Passage for Special and/or discounted rates are limited. Read the fine print carefully, because we are havinng a hard time using our Open Passage with any the special offers, exciting deals, or TA's special promotions. We bought ours last year, and heard that there are some changes for the ones selling this year, you may find more information on the Board about the new changes, but we are very frustrated with ours.

  9. It seems like Celebrity is a bit behind the times, many other cruiselines give OBC or price drop guarantee, if you should book early and the price drops. Why should an early booker be penalized and a last minutetraveler rewarded? If Carnival, Royal and Princess provide OBC for rate drops, why can't Celebrity. The lesson to be learned is that the tardy to the party is the way to go with Celebrity.

  10. Our first cruise was on Carnival. Then HAL, Princess, and rotated between Carnival and Princess. Got to the high levels in their clubs. The benefits changed some and so did the cruising experience. We liked both lines but too much changed.

At my insistence I convinced my wife that we should try X. Booked a AQ cabin on the Solstice. Walked on board and got that welcome aboard glass of champaign. Walked into the atrium and had that WOW experience.

It was by our best cruise experience to that point in time. Have since cruised enough to become Elite on X. Still sail the other lines for a real cheap get away but X is our line of choice for our main cruises.

We agree with all of the comments so far, but to clearly put what has been nicely said, is that the Celebrity crowd, especially on the transatlantic, Mediterranean, and European cruises, are on the average older than 45. As we are younger than this age, I would highly recommend Celebrity, for a quiet, relaxing, classy change of pace.

If you are looking for the late night nite life on Carnival, X is the wrong place. Otherwise, Celebrity is one of the best in sophisticated cruising.

  11. We tried it on the Carnival Liberty on our September cruise and it did not work. We both had android phones, and at home, it worked perfectly, but on the cruise ship, they would not ring. We believed they blocked the necessary port that would have allowed it to work. We tried it at port using a paid wifi service in St Thomas and it worked there, but back on ship, it did not work.

Although, we were able to obtain an IP for the two connections, I believe the port was blocked, since we do not know what port the program was using, there was no way to change the port.

My conspiracy theory is that the cruise line reps, follow the threads, and take the necessary steps needed.;)
