  1. I am new to NCL and looking on a cruise soon. Mostly been on CCL in past.

Which of these ships is more popular and worth going? Itinerary does not matter. Trying to use a Free cruise voucher from land based casino. I mostly like newer ships so narrowed down to these.

    Breakaway

    Escape

    Encore

    Joy

    Thanks for any help!

Today is Aruba. I just got back to the ship after a full-day, 8-hour tour of the entire island except the national park with Farley of Aruba Fantasy Tours. We went north on the western roads to the tippy-top and then down the Atlantic Coast to Baby Beach at the very bottom where Atlantic meets Caribbean. Found them on TripAdvisor and after reading the stellar reviews picked them over a lesser excursion in an open air bus (we had AC 😁🏴‍☠️) offered by Carnival.  $60 with promo for 8 full hours and Farley really packed it in with enthusiasm and knowledge. And he was funny and an excellent Andretti brother.

Hi, How did you find the promo code and their website shows 7 hour tour. How did you book an 8 hour tour? Thank you for all the great info!

  3. Hello Experts, Any comments on this itinerary? Seems like a good mix based on what I read here but appreciate any other insight. This is Jun 30 this year.

London (Dover) > Bergen > Alesund > Molde > Olden > Cruise Nordfjord > Skjolden > Cruise Sognefjord > Haugesund > End: London (Dover)

  4. Just to elaborate on our case, they were actually very understanding and worked well with us, We just called Medical when we saw symptoms and they came in half hour. The Doctor did a PCR test, Strep test and Flu test all together. I am not sure why they didn't wait for PCR result and then do other tests. The PCR result was positive in this case. They called back with the result in 1 hour or so.

Both were isolated to Deck 4 for rest of the cruise which was luckily just 1.25 days or so. It sucks that it was Christmas day though but could have been worse. We heard of some guests isolated since second day of cruise.

They gave free premium internet and lot of medicines. No charge for anything. Only thing we got charged for was flu test which I did not dispute (even though I could have). They waived almost $500 in other medical charges.

  5. Is the $150 All Digital package for whole cabin or each Adult in the cabin? When I was trying to buy, it showed option to buy for each Adult in the Cabin. I just bought for myself assuming it will work for all 4 (2 adults and 2 youth) in cabin? Am I correct or do I have to be in every picture they give :)?

  6. Finally got my status matched from Hilton Gold to MSC Gold! I am sailing on Oct 30 and booked through a TA. DO I add the MSC voyager number myself online or ask TA to get it added? How would I get the $50 OBC and any discount OBC since it is already paid fully? Does TA have to coordinate it? Thanks for any help.

I am not a big fan of over-packed itineraries - but this looks fine for me, as long as you pack as light as possible given that you are moving a couple of times.  Also make sure that the 8 of you are not always trying to do things together - that can get exhausting when you are trying to meet everyone's needs.

Another vote for Sorrento.  You can easily get a ferry to Capri from there.  It is also an easy local train ride to Pompeii or Herculaneum from there.  You will also be able to organise an Amalfi Coast drive from Sorrento too.  That would be enough scheduled activity for the 4 days, given that you are going to arrive jet lagged.   You need time to enjoy Sorrento  and anything unscheduled that crops up.

I would take the train rather than fly between Naples and Venice.  You can take the local train from Sorrento into Naples but allow time to find the platform.   The local and the regional trains are on different levels I think.    Think about accessibility to train station when you book your accommodation in Venice.

As to whether or not it is worth flying from Rome??  You may not be interested in the major sites in Rome, but strolling  around Rome as the sun goes down, finding somewhere to sit in the fresh air and having a meal together sounds like my idea of heaven.  You could probably do the same in Venice and leave from Venice the next day (but hotel costs would surely be less in Rome).      [Milan is also nearer than Rome when you are pricing flights]

    Have a lovely trip.

Thank you for all the details and advice.

  8. Thank you all for the invaluable feedback. Sorry if my post was not well formed and made you tired:) I think it is not too busy as we are trying not to move our base too much and just keep in Amalfi area and Venice pretty much before the cruise.

I will look in to skipping Rome but I thought I will may be squeeze in one site in Rome plus we will hopefully get direct flights to WAS instead of a connection but I agree that it might not be worth the hassle.

Looks like Sorrento is better to base us. We plan on doing different tours every day and not have it too rushed for Amalfi. I realize it will be probably too expensive and we will have to see how to balance it all.

We had good luck with some apartments that were three bedroom from VRBO.  The owner had several in the same building.   For Sorrento we had good luck with the Best Western, it had a huge pool, great views and regular shuttle into Sorrento.   We day tripped from there.

Thanks, this is very helpful info.

There is good ferry service along the Amalfi Coast (see schedule here: https://www.travelmar.it/it/orari).  There are also sufficient options from Positano or Amalfi to Capri and back, so I wouldn't immediately assume you must choose Sorrento for ease of getting around.

If you decide to use the train from your Amalfi Coast location to Venice you can start in Salerno rather than Naples, saving yourself a lot of hassle (if you are staying in Sorrento it makes more sense to go to Naples).

    Thanks for this helpful info.

  10. From what I have read IMAX movies are $12.95 per person and shows current new movies. There is also Thrill theater which shows shorter movies for various ages. They are $5.95 to $8.95 and have age limits in some cases. They also sell a Unlimited viewing package for Thrill theater for around $18. Prices might be approximate based on memory.
