  1. Hi fellow cruisers

I have started a roll call for this cruise on 8th November 2017. The Thomson excursions from Ashdod are quite expensive and will be big groups. I am seeing if people would be interested in getting together for small group trips. It is a tour operator I have used before when I did this cruise and we really enjoyed it. Full details are in the roll call section of this forum.

    Thanks for reading

    Sue

  2. We tried to see the Martial glacier but after walking up the mountain for an hour in the sleet we were dismayed to be told it was still another 40 minutes walk so we called it a day. Just to warn you it's a long uphill walk from the car park.

The prison is a short walk from the cruise terminal and is a good option if the weather is foul.

We had a 3 hour tour in a taxi to Tierra del Fuego National Park for $130 which between 4 of us wasn't bad. We just teamed up with another couple who were also looking for a tour. We also had to pay the entrance fees for the National Park which were 170 pesos each. The park is beautiful, unfortunately it was raining so didn't really get out to do it justice. It was easy to find a taxi - they are across the road from the terminal, behind the tourist information office. We had been round the National Park quite quickly as we didn't get out much so the driver suggested the Martial glacier at an extra $50. We would have been better going to the prison or just exploring the town as it seemed very nice.

If the weather is nice there would be nothing better than going to the National Park and walking round the bays and woods, I don't think you would get the same experience on the train. Also you can send a postcard from the "Fin Del Munde" post office, the last post office in the world, in the National Park. It does work - I sent two and they both arrived before I got back.

  3. Well depends on your taste. Our favourite was Hilby the Skinny German Juggle Boy. Don't miss the Production Cast show We Will Rock You, it was very good

We really enjoyed Duo Yalba and the hypnotist. Devlin the magician's second show was better than his first. Aaron Shaw's first show was better than his second.

Didn't particularly like the two production cast shows that were in Dazzles, Broadway cabaret, and popular hits. We didn't really like the choice of songs and maybe it was the venue but it all seemed a bit too loud and screechy.

The Los Pampas Diablos tango show was a bit repetitive, nice to see a couple of dances. Their Gaucho show was better. Elvey Rose was lively, very Latino and not really to our taste

The crew show was very good.

Colibri usually play in the Observation Lounge and were good if you can get over the mangling of the English language. The music was good but the way words were pronounced grated on me.

Justin Lacey plays piano in the Windjammer. It's quite a nice atmosphere and he takes requests but I did get to the stage where if I heard "Piano man" or "Imagine" one more time I would throw myself overboard.

He alternates with someone who plays the guitar but he was usually on too late for us.

Anytime the NCL SUN musicians or any of their members are on in various venues they are worth seeing as it is something a bit different.

Have a great cruise, we did.

  4. Hi, Due to join the Celebration on Friday 31st. Very concerned as travelling with my father who is 85 so I rang Thomson Customer Services. They deny that the ship was cleared and sanitised. They say there was a small outbreak of the virus that was contained & the majority of the passengers were unaffected. They say the ship was unable to dock in La Gomera due to the weather so arrived in Tenerife a day early. Any comments from people on last weeks cruise?
