Thanks for sharing! We live in NC as well; we're going on the Conquest in December for our 10th anniversary (although a couple weeks early and a different itinerary). [emoji16]

Get insurance through USAA. That's what we always do and had to use it once a couple years ago for a trip to Vegas. My husband didn't end up with orders, but had his leave revoked for the possibility of a deployment. We submitted everything and had no issues getting our money back, minus the $50 the insurance cost us.

I have a zero balance on my cruise right now. What if I buy $300 worth of gift cards to use to pay for excursions that only cost $260. What happens to the remaining $40? Does it stay on the card and then I can use when I get on board?

The $40 stays on the card. You take it to Guest Services and/ or a kiosk to apply it to your Sign & Sail Account.

I always get the insurance through USAA/ Travel Insured. Actually had to use it on our Vegas trip we had to cancel this July. Within a month the claim was started, paperwork submitted, and check mailed. No questions asked since I provided all receipts. My husband's leave was revoked because of an unexpected/ not planned trip (active duty). We had the Lite policy.
