  1. Thank you, Wendy! Great info

We visited Nassau on a cruise this past January.

We took a cab to Cabbage Beach (maybe 15 minutes depend son traffic over the bridge)and hung out there for a couple hours, then went to Junkanoo Beach (as it is closer to the cruise port - walking distance for us - aprox 15 minutes depending on pace) and they have Tiki Bikini Hut there for drinks and facilities.

Cabbage Beach was beautiful, but we enjoyed the fun games and entertainment at Junkanoo Beach (the beach sand has many pebbles getting into the water).

This site shows you options for day passes at various resorts.

    I hope this helps!

  2. Cruising on the Equinox in October. It's a chartered cruise for my company with less hours at port than usual. We have about 6 hours one day at Key West (planning to just wander around town) and 5 hours in Nassau the next day. We'd like to relax on a beach! Haven't seen excursion options from Celebrity yet but we're open to getting to the beach on our own. WHICH beach though? All inclusive "day pass" would be nice to include drinks and food. But don't want to spend a lot since we won't be there long. Like $100 per person tops. Where should we go? It's not our first cruise but it is our first time to the Bahamas.

  3. Thanks for all your advice! I know hitting the gym is best and I'm going to try that. :) Problem is that when I do even a minimum workout I usually can't walk for several days and can't get back into it. :( I know.. excuses, excuses... LOL. I'm going to use some firming lotion I have and the airbrush tan will help mask some of it too. :) And I don't plan to be in a little bikini or anything. Lots of cover-ups!

  4. I know I should have started long ago and I'm NOT looking for any miracles. But what it the best method for slimming and, more importantly, reducing/smoothing cellulite?? I know how to lose a few pounds by then, but that won't get rid of the cellulite! And without spending more than say $300 or so. Less would be great. :)

I'm not terribly overweight... I'm just really out of shape and have major cellulite, mostly in my hips and thighs of course. My pale skin doesn't help. I'll be getting an airbrush tan the day before the cruise.

    Thanks!!

  5. Thanks for all the input! I'll sign her up for it so that she can check-out for scavenger hunts and all. Fortunately, I know I can trust to her follow what ever guidelines we establish. She wouldn't likely WANT to be alone at any time anyway.

We're thinking of getting some walkie-talkies for limited use (I know how much those can annoy people) in case we can't get a camp phone. Then if she and a friend wanted to go get some pizza or a snack or something she could just call and let me know.

We're just 16 days away now!! Can't wait!

  6. Last time we went DD was 5 and she enjoyed the camp for the most part. One really nice feature that we didn't know about until the second or third night was that they have a kid-only dinner which was really great. It was in an empty dining room by a window, with kid foods of course. She really enjoyed that as opposed to sitting with a bunch of adults for a long time. And of course we really enjoyed our adult dinner as well! We could drop her off at 6 and then take our time getting ready for our 8:00 dinner.

She did get bored with some of the activities so I would check in on her often.

We go again next month and now she is 9. Fortunately she is really looking forward to camp. She will be in the 9-12 age group which is nice because she tends to be mature for her age (only-child thing). And since she is also really tall for her age she won't actually appear to be one of the youngest.

  7. Taking 9 y/o DD on Triumph in a few weeks. I'd kind of like to give her the option to check in and out of Camp Carnival by herself, mostly because I know she may get bored sometimes. But I am a very paranoid person and can't help but worry. I know she is paranoid as well, and wouldn't go anywhere where there aren't many people around. And fortunately our cabin is on the lido deck, so at least she wouldn't have to go down a lot of stairs/elevators and down long hallways alone. And actually, I'm not sure that I'd really want her going to the cabin alone at all.

Perhaps I'll give her the option, but discourage against it, which she'd probably be fine with. And also my parents will be with us, so I suppose that between the 4 of us adults, we could check in on her often and make sure she isn't bored.

    Thoughts??

  8. Go back to the cabin frequently if you're not together. Take a post-it note pad and pen so you can leave each other notes (also good for leaving notes for your steward).

Figure out the most common places the others like to hang out. It was easy for me last time because my husband pretty much stays in a lounge chair by the main pool ALL DAY. I can't do that (fair skin and ADD!). And our daughter was either with us or at Camp Carnival.

This upcoming trip in a few weeks will be more complicated because my parents are also going. Although, they'll likely be in the casino or private balcony! And I'm thinking of letting 9 y/o DD check herself in and out of Camp Carnival, which makes me a nervous wreck though. Fortunately our room is on the lido deck, so she won't have to be taking elevators or many stairs by herself, and again, my husband will often be by the pool. And she's pretty paranoid anyway, so I don't think I have to worry about her being alone with any questionable people.
