Jacqueline and Mafig somehow this reply looks different to the others..Feel for you copping the snow. Im glad my request has reminded you of warm happy days :) We have to drive 2 hours in our winter to see it :) I dont like cold..Have either of you been to Belize? Mafig..my two cents worth lol..Loved Celebrity Silhouette Rome to Venice..just saying..I work to travel..hope to remember to get back to you jacqueline to let you know my thoughts upon return...your turn to trip next..
37 days, wow you are lucky! A cruise like that will certainly be on my bucket list - that's amazing - have a blast!! :DAs far as what other are saying about the ferry closing, during the two weeks I was there, we did not see it closed once, even during thunderstorms. I suppose if there was a hurricane or insanely strong winds, then they may close, but this would be something you could simply look at the forecast and predict. If you're that concerned, maybe even call them or talk to them over on the Cozumel side and see if there is even a possibility that they may close early. I think that if youre smart about it and keep those things in mind, as long as there is no storm, I wouldnt miss out on a chance to go to Playa.
Just my two cents :) Regardless of where you go though, you'll have a great time!

Thankyou Jacqueline for reply..this port is one of a 37 night cruise :) Im a little concerned now after seeing the weather may hinder our return :(

Re Cozumel many thanks all for you valuable input..much appreciated...now to decide..some said the street hawkers drive you crazy so maybe thats why I tended to look at somewhere not so busy cheers from Tasmania

Lrg pizza thankyou for reply..Yes I am wondering if we had enough time thats why I said we dock from 8am to 5pm..or do you think there are better options for Cozumel? Its soo hard to decide what to do where..we are doing 37 nights Miami to Alaska..cheers Liz

Hi Essexlass2
May I add some of my findings.Terry may well have given you all the info you need but i dont have time to go thru all his posts. Messina Sicily..wonderful memories. We got the train (cheap) and scenic to Taormina. Its a little walk to station which we had trouble finding but i should have done better research. The train stop is at the bottom of Taormina You have to get a taxi up to the Umberto..main Street. The trick is as soon as you come out onto street you have to be real quick and look right cause there are only a few taxis parked there try and beat the other cruise people. Beautiful views of Mt Etna from lookouts along the street. Went to the Greek Theatre at the end of main Street.I tried and bought Limoncello there..loved that drink. In Corfu we hired a car very cheap between 4 of us.. Close to ship..if you would like to know what amazing things we discovered email me at mirandavale8599@bigpond.com. In Malta we took a ride in one of the horse and carriages and that was great and informative driver..happy planning cheers from down under Liz

Terry Dont think I got back to you after seeing Dubrovnik. That restaurant you reccommended Komarda was everything you said..food excellent and the view was spectacular...many thanks for your information cheers Liz Tasmania

seems somethings gone wrong here?? Would be so kind to tell me how to look up Athens board re DIY. I know Im a computer dummy sorry thamks heaps[
quote=cruisemom42;34342440]For the train, see eurocruiser's post above. It is doable as long as your luggage is manageable -- probably not more than a medium suitcase (24" to 25") and one backpack or carry-on that can be actually carried. You'll have to get the luggage onto and off the train on your own. The metro will also be fine but perhaps crowded.
I've done Athens on my own several times. IMO the only concern would be if there is a transportation strike during your visit. These seem to be less frequent now than last year. I don't think many people who say it is unsafe have actually done it. They are just pushing their favorite taxi or driver service.
There is a ton of info on the Athens board on DIY, including a very recent post from someone detailing how they did it step by step.

Hi Cruisemom42 Where do you purchase the birg ticket please. We intend to get the metro line to ostiense change to colosseo then walk to hotel Romance. Would this be doable with our luggae?? What I really want to know is if you have done Athens on your own. been reading on CC posts its not safe to do so.

Mercury no children these days. Been there done that ha ha!! Our turn now. They did have great kids clubs tho and I loved how they had dinner before us while we had cocktails and the crew checked the cabins babysit style in between our checking. My son got a terrible cold probably passed thru the air-con or that jackets were in luggage and I didnt realise how breezy the sail away would be on deck out of Sydney. But he soldiered on. I would pack plenty of pharmacy lines ie tummy bug, cough syrup, panadol, etc if I had my time again with littlies. They had talent quests mocktail dinners dress up events. Goodluck with them Im sure you all will have a fab time :)
