  1. Hello, everyone! I am going on the Adventure of the Seas at the end of July with a large group of friends and family. One of my friends really loves espresso martinis. Does anyone know if these drinks are available onboard? I checked a drink menu I found on another website and did not see them on the list. Has anyone had any luck with this drink? Thanks!

  2. best way to. Mambo beach from port and there is 16 of us. Happy

I have the same question, are there buses available? I am going to about 30 people. :D

  3. As I parent I get where you are coming from, it should be our choice what our kids get to see. I also think some people are harshly criticizing you for no reason. They are your kids and you can raise them anyway you'd like. With that in mind, so can everyone else and many probably don't find the movie that offensive. I saw it with my boys (7 and 9 at the time) and didn't have an issue with it. I just explained that it was a movie and the events were not real.

  4. We had GS 1578 last week and while the carpet 'appeared' new, the remainder of the cabin wasn't. While the cabin was very clean, the furniture definitely looked old. It looked like all the public areas had been refreshed..

Thanks for the update! I am sure fresh carpets help, think of all the years the previous ones have been used...oh the stories they could tell. ;)

  5. They don't keep track of things like that? Is there a locale to buy wine near the pier? Do you board at a different location than peeps who are in the initial boarding process?

New to San Juan Port, sorry so question heavy.

Not at all, a family member went back about 3 times with 2 people. The ended up leaving some behind at the end. You can purchase right in the terminal, the store will give you advice on what to do. =)

  6. Royal allows two 750ml bottles per stateroom, regardless of the number of guests in the stateroom. You can bring the wine anywhere on the ship, with no corkage fees.

There is snorkel gear for purchase on board, but not for rent.

In past experiences they generally allow 2 per person leaving from the San Juan port. If someone was so inclined they could bring in two, go out and bring in two more and two more and... you get the point.;)

  7. Yeah I agree! I'd love to see a Freedom class down there. But what I don't want is one of the "big big" ones cuz then it'll raise the $$$ quite a bit. I also don't think the larger ones can fit into all of the smaller ports we love so much and that's the best part about leaving from San Juan! I guess we will find out next week! That is *supposed* to be when it will all be released for Caribbean. Fingers crossed!! ;p

The larger ships fit in the port, I was in San Juan last week and I saw an Oasis class ship in port. It was huge, larger than most buildings in Old San Juan. That said, I love the mid size ships sailing from San Juan. This port has become my favorite to sail out of.

  8. Escambron is a good choice but could be packed on a Saturday afternoon. The downside of it being a blue flag beach is that you can't bring almost anything into the water aside from yourself. Forget a Frisbee or anything of that nature.

  9. The closest beach to the port is in Ocean Park, and there is a hotel there called Numero Uno where you can get a day pass. Includes lunch at Pamela's Restaurant, lounger & umbrella. Condado Beach where all the hi rise hotels is a bit further along, followed by Isla Verde, where Carnival has an excursion. The best beach is Loquillo, but that is even further away.

Look up the Ocean Park site on Trip Advisor, it has fantastic reviews.

Ocean park is farther out than Condado.

  10. We will be docking in Old San Juan on our Carnival Splendor cruise from 3pm to 11pm on Sat. July 18th. It will be our first time visiting Puerto Rico and we love the beach~it has been a rough winter and all 8 of us just want to relax under a palm tree!!!! Can anyone recommend a beach near the port or any other sights we just shouldn't miss. We want to enjoy every moment on Puerto Rico!!! Thanks so much and Happy Cruising!!! :D

I go to PR every July and can say that the beaches get packed on the weekend that time of year. It is official beach season to the locals. If you want to take a dip I'd recommend the small beach next to the Condado Plaza, it's right over the bridge after the Caribe Hilton. The benefits are that the water is flat calm and crystal clear because it is protected by rocks. You can rent chairs at the hotel and order drinks. Starbucks is close by and there is a shish-kebob, burger hotdog and fresh coconut stand.

I think your best bet if arriving in the afternoon is to hang out in Old San Juan, there is lots to do and the pier should be loaded with local artisans. El Morro Fort closes at 4 so you may want to dash up there as soon as you arrive. Then you can go down San Sebastian street to check out the old church and maybe grab a bite at the old convent. You can and walk towards the ship area from there and grab a piña colada at it's birthplace. OSJ is a beautiful place with lots of history, the police are everywhere making sure everything runs smoothly.

Texasgalsa, awesome videos! It was interesting seeing the difference between your cameras, I think the GoPro did it best. I am going to pack my Hero 3+ Black and my Nikon D5200 for my trip on the Liberty. I think the D5200 will stay on board or for specific ports. BTW, what program did you use for your video edits? They were really good.

    Thanks!

  12. I am sure if someone asked if there were a lot of black people or white people on a cruise someone would have said something by now. We are cruising from a port in Puerto Rico so an educated person would assume there would be people from PR. Did you happen to ask all of the Spanish people on board where they were from or did you just speculate that all Spanish people on the ship were Puerto Rican. Just an FYI, if you couldn't tell, you made a very offensive statement.

I'm with you bchristie1074, it was offensive.
