Warnemunde is especially easy to DIY.  It is both a seaside resort and a suburb of Rostock.  Very popular with Germans for weekends and holidays, and residents of Rostock for an outing or a beach day.

Ships dockj less than 5 minutes walk from the train station. You can see the station from the ship.

We bought a day ticket and took the train into Rostock, (on arrival had to switch to a tram to reach the historic centre,) axplored there then returned to Warnemunde for a lateish quick lunch onboard before heading out again to explore this very attractive little beach resort. As we used two trains and two trams, the day ticket offered a saving, plus we did not need small  change to pay each time..

To reach  the town and beach, you walk through the train station and across a little bridge.Probably max 5 minutes.  From there you choose your own route around town.  There are many really cute little cottages and a long beach and promenade. And many independent little shops, cafes and restaurants.  If you want to head to the beach area first,, walk in the direction of the lighthouse which you should be able to see.

There should be many images and info online.

I’m not sure how you would pay for a tour from Alla Tours at this point.  I don’t think you can.  I also don’t think any Russian tour company any can do business with operators in the EU.   Or any other of the countries in the Baltic.

    Hello Ken,

    Thank you for your message!

This information is correct, but I must mention that in spite of the fact that Alla Tours specializes in St Petersburg tours and our company was started there 15 years ago, since 2019 our company is based in the EU (in Riga, Latvia to be more specific). There will be no issues with the payment.

Any and all questions are welcome!
    Have a nice day!

  3. We are looking forward to our June 15/22 11 day Baltic cruise. All tours, flights booked, hotels booked. Testing dropped on Iceland air. By the time we return I hope rest of testing will be gone. Also booked b2b from Vancouver to Sydney in Sept 22 with all flights, hotels, excursions booked. We are so looking to travel this year.

  4. Please remember that Alla tours are run by people not governments. These same people have had no ship tours these past 2 years due to Covid and now do to One man’s decision another season is likely gone. A photo of and video of Russian people in SP protesting and being arrested for standing up to Putin speaks volumes. They now also pay for the sanctions we impose on their economy to try and reverse his decision. A difficult time for some and deadly time for others! I pray for the people of Ukraine.

I don't know that there is a "best" location.  Agree that if you typically prefer a mid-level, mid-ship location on the other ships, the same criteria would likely be the best to go by with this (or any) ship.  It is an individual preference, so you have to go by what you like from prior experience.

Maybe look at the ships deck plans to confirm where your typical locations would be, and go from there.  As long as there are staterooms below and above you and you are surrounded by staterooms on your deck and location of choice, I think you will be fine from any other concerns such as noise.  We also like to be close to the elevator banks for convenience in getting to the different venues.

We were in 9244 hump mid ship on Ovation and loved it Sydney around New Zealand

If you are in Copenhagen in the summer of 2022 and interested in the Danish Royal Families, there are two special exhibition that may be of interest to you.

    H.R.H. Crown Princess Mary 1972 – 2022

From April 2 to August 31, 2022 at Frederiksborg Castle

A special exhibition on the occasion of The Crown Princess’s 50th birthday.

The Museum of National History at Frederiksborg Castle in Hillerød. The Castle is definitely worth a visit.

Take the S-train line A from Copenhagen to Hillerød (approximately 40 minutes from Copenhagen). From Hillerød Station you can walk to the castle.

    A Queen’s Jewellery Box

From January 14 to October 23, 2022 at Amalienborg Museum

The Royal Danish Collection celebrates the 50th anniversary of Her Majesty the Queen’s ascension to the throne with the special exhibition ‘A QUEEN’S JEWELLERY BOX – 50 years on the throne told through jewellery’. The exhibition is held at the Amalienborg Museum in Christian VIII’s Royal Palace at Amalienborg

Watch also the guard change at the Royal Palace every day at noon.

Thanks for this. I am sure my wife would love the Queen’s Jewelry and I would love to see Castle. Any idea on rough cost on Train ride return?

  8. I have been warned that these are actually two separate stops on the same day. Trying to figure out booking My shore excursions. Can someone fill me in on how this day goes and what time you actually get to me Geiranger? Does the ship go all the way there? June 5/2022 Grandiosa
