I have a tour reserved for about a year now. I got an email a couple of weeks ago that were still booked and ready to go on February 24, 2018. Cant wait!!!!

I was wondering, since Carnival is getting rid of the regular TV stations, will they still be showing the Olympics? If so, where might that be? Ill be on the Vista and the Fascination.
thanks, Gena

I recall having a leisurely morning in the apartment we rented for one day and then taking the taxi to board around 11:00. It took a while to get through the boarding process, so we chose to have a relaxing meal since most people went ashore. We ended up playing the Trivia game and won a ship on a stick! When you board in Barbados, they assign you to Your Time Dining. This is not my choice, so I went to YTD at 5:45 and requested to be moved to early dining. While they do hum and ha about it, we were seated as requested at table for 10. Of course, when we got to Puerto Rico we went through the same thing again, and again got moved to the early dining and with the same wait staff! They were wonderful!
Thanks, dining was another thing I was wondering about. I would like set dining as Im solo this time.

We boarded the Fascination in Barbados. They had a small staff set up to check our ID, give us our Sail and Sign cards and give us any information we needed. There was a muster for all of us who had boarded in Barbados. Attendance was taken! Then, when we got to Puerto Rico, we had to clear customs and get off the ship for a while. We were told we did not have to attend the muster, however you still got to hear all the announcements!
Have a great trip! Fascination is a lovey cruise ship with really great staff!
Oh thank you for your information. It’s so hard to find for the Barbados sailing.
Now that I’ve found you... lol... what time were you able to board? And, did you have to disembark by 10??? Was your room ready ??? Lol sorry! So many questions!

My guess, and this is just a guess, is that you'll have one safety drill the evening the ship leaves San Juan since everyone has to attend that one. I have never heard an announcement for a safety drill before we left Barbados. I also just checked the copies of my Carnival "Fun Times" from our Carnival Liberty cruise from September 2015 (our most recent cruise) to see if anything is mentioned. In the edition of the "Fun Times" we received on embarkation day (San Juan), it is listed in the section where all activities and times are listed, and in the 9:30pm time slot, it clearly says, "ALL GUESTS MUST ATTEND......General Safety Briefing". In the "Fun Times" from our day in Barbados, there is nothing mentioned about a safety briefing. As I said, this is just my guess & hoping someone else who has embarked in Barbados in the past can chip in with a definite answer. This will at least get the post bumped for better chance of others seeing it. :)
Thanks for your answer. I knew you’d respond as you are always so helpful with answers to this itinerary! [emoji847]

I saw this post and it makes me wonder, will I have to do it twice since I embark in Barbados???
Thanks, Gena :D

I know we aren't supposed to go overboard on spelling, but place names ought to be correct IMO. You mean St Maarten I presume.
 I usually don't say much, but really???? I doubt anyone misunderstood what they meant.
And please , do us all a favor and never read one of my reviews;p

We are a group of seven who are also sailing 2/25/18. We have a couple of private tours booked already. We want to go to St. John. I hope it will be ready for people in two more months.
My husband is not convinced we'll actually cruise because he feels FEMA won't release Fascination as scheduled. At least we'd have a nice week in PR.
I would have to spend another week in Barbados!! :O Although I wouldn't mind, I really hope your husband is wrong....Don't you think wed know by now??? I know they were cancelling last minute in September but everything was soooo nuts. I would think they would have an idea by now.:o

When are you going? I booked it for February 12th on the Vista.
-
Hmmmm maybe if I have time I can find something in town before the ship sails. I have a Northern Beach hopping excursion planned for the afternoon. Maybe Ill have time afterwards... Maybe there is a store that is till open in the evening that I can go to, or maybe we will stop for some shopping on the tour. Who knows... :)
Thanks for your replies :)

Great sounds like my gut was right then. Thank you all!!
I have FTTF as well so I should be able to get off Vista as soon as shes ready. :D
-
I am trying to boogie! lol
Thanks guys! Any idea on price? Im just one person. I do have a 1045 flight.
I had booked a shuttle but communication was terrible so Ive decided just to cab it.

Are there plenty of taxis at the port of Miami to wisk you off to the airport? Im trying to find the quickest way there that I can after my cruise.
Thanks much,
Gena

I cant find a tour that does everything I want to do:rolleyes:, lol. How important is the liquor factory visit if all I really want to do is buy some? Do they have it for sale in the port shops?? Is there a difference?
Thanks, Gena

LOL I remember when I still had almost 700 days to go! eek!
I love doing picture reviews of my cruises, so maybe you'll catch it before you go ;)

So just incase anyone is ever wondering...... I called carnival this morning and they said that because Im on a split cruise, I cant book excursions until Im on board. I also don't get FTTF, Reserved dining ( that I wanted since Im solo :( ), and some other stuff. So FYI.
Im still glad Im leaving from Barbados tho :D

Im doing this excursion in February. In just my research I found its $11 each way and the taxis are cheaper outside the terminal. For a more budget friendly option, there is a public bus that goes there and back as well.
I haven't put it to the test yet so don't quote me! lol. I may still get lost when I go :o:cool:;p

Oh and another thought, what are your plans for St Thomas? That's the one Ive been wanting to check out....;)
-
Hmmmm thanks everyone! And Hello! I will probably be sailing with you all at some point of my week on Fascination. :)
My cruise manager shows they are still scheduling excursions for my cruise....how odd. I guess Im just going to have to call them.... I hate calling ;p:rolleyes:

Ok its almost down to two months till my Feb 21 cruise on the Fascination out of Barbados. I still haven't seen any Carnival excursions come available. Is this unusual?? I know the ones for my cruise( Vista Feb 10) came out months ago.
If you have any thoughts, I would appreciate them. :)

Looking better! :D I will help out and do my part in February as well! Cant wait.
Thanks for posting:D

Great story! Cant wait to go in February!!

Im staying at the Yellow bird hotel in February before my cruise. Its right at the beginning of St Lawrence Gap which I hear is a very fun area. Every room at the Yellow Bird faces the water :)

Ive done mission trips before and I love it. The gratitude from the people you help is worth more than the cost of the trip. And Id be more than happy to do some a cruise/mission trip. Two fun things rolled into one.
Will Carnival be showing the Olympics on their ships?
