  1. BC is connecting balcony staterooms. We were in them on the Anthem a couple weeks ago. They have a door inside the cabins that open so you can get back and forth without going outside into the hallway. We also had out two dd's aged 13 and 10 so the 2 bathrooms was a must. This is why we didn't book a junior suite of any kind. We also had the balcony dividers opened up for a larger balcony. In order to do this you do have to book the two staterooms so it can be more expensive although the Anthem has some balcony options with connected interior staterooms that would be cheaper so it may be worth your while to call into RC directly to talk to someone or see a travel agent that can help you navigate the different options.

  2. I was on the 12 day sailing prior to the cruise the OP was on. In one word I would describe the staff as "guarded". We found that if you smiled or said hello or chatted a little and the staff saw that you wanted to talk about positive things as opposed to negative things i.e. Complain then their whole demeanor changed. I personally could understand where they were coming from on this given the negative situations on a few of the cruises previous to ours. There was a lot of complainers everywhere on our cruise and I think the staff was so guarded over the past couple months cruises they just couldn't open themselves up to it over and over again. On top of this they had been at a high level of sanitation given the Noro outbreak and the amount of extra work cleaning every single day multiple times a day I think they were exhausted physically and emotionally. I did not feel that it impacted our family cruise because I go through life looking at the whole picture/situation rather than expect other people to cater to me. I know people will say that they pay good money for the cruise experience and I pay that same good money I am just saying that a little bit of understanding and compassion and being responsible for yourself can make life a much nicer place for everyone. I do like to talk to the staff because I am interested in learning about their countries and I like my kids to hear about the different cultures when they are talking about their countries but cheerful chatting and being kind to everyone is as far as it really needs to go for us. I have been on many cruises with RC and I have had many levels of service from staff and it just makes each cruise different from the last.

  3. I think I just ran into that woman at the pool bar tonight. Berated the bartender pretty bad. Muttered about hating the ship. Was a miserable wretch. Walked away without her card so bartender just chuckled and left it on the bar. I told the bartender not to worry about her that I would put a shout out on cruise critic about how wonderful he has been to us since we have been up there almost every night for our daughter to have her nighttime swim. I was truly hoping I wouldn't see her but it seems it may have happened. I know that there are a lot of very miserable whiny complaining people on this ship to the point that my 10 year old daughter has noticed but we also met the nicest family ever so I think in the end we came out on the plus side. I don't post often on cruise critic but am thinking I will do an honest review of all areas for others when I get back home.

  4. Ok will do although we won't be having the sofa made into a bed so I can't help with that. We have booked before so that we had to use the sofa bed and once it is made into the bed it is pretty much impossible to get by it and out to your balcony so putting the kids to bed and going out to the balcony for a nightcap is not an easy task. This is why we now book connecting rooms it makes for a much nicer cruise especially with 2 girls one being a teenager the extra bathroom is crucial lol.

  5. Its not a dead horse. Its very much alive.... and RCCL needs to answer for why they put these people in harms way and have consequences. This is not OK! Be snarky all you want. You have not been affected by any of this, and you don't have lots of $$ invested for a sailing in a couple of weeks. I'm not looking forward to going on this beat up ship. They are going to do patch work to get it going by Saturday because god forbid they lose any more revenue because of it. If that captain is still on board I really do not want to go!

There are valid points being made. Just because you don't agree doesn't mean they are not warranted. Your posts are the annoying posts.

As someone who has also paid good money to go on the same cruise as you are I am not the least bit concerned. We will have our children with us and we will have a great time. I sincerely hope that we have the same captain knowing that he is able to handle whatever gets thrown his way. TBILL it would be incredibly helpful for many of us on these threads if you could post a photo of yourself so that we can all avoid your negative presence on the ship and enjoy our drama free vacation. Although I suppose if you don't I would only need to hang out at guest services for a day and I could probably guess who you are. God willing Royal Caribbean offers you a full refund on your cruise and we won't have to worry about it.

  6. I am wondering if it is possible to make an 11:30 flight out of Venice with customs or if I am cutting it too close. I have never been to this port before. It sounds easy to get off the ship but how easy is it to get from the ship to the airport. Thanks in advance.

  7. To ddsdoc. You mentioned that your wife has just had double knee replacements. The js has a bathtub instead of the shower and the tub walls are quite tall so it is a high climb in so to speak. If she is not able to bend enough to climb into a tub then I suggest sticking to the balcony. Just thought I would throw that out there in case you have not stayed in a js before.

  8. With Rogers everything changes all the time. They like to change their available packages but you should still be able to do basically the same thing. One poster hear complained about their website and I agree. You can forget the website and add the packages through your "my rogers" app on your mobile device. In the top left corner you will see lines. Just hit those and choose travel then go from there. We cruise 2-3 times a year so I am pretty up to date on the ins and outs. The best thing ever was the new unlimited wifi pkg we had on oasis in march. We didn't buy any extra Rogers packages we just used the ship wifi. This means we couldn't use the phones when we were physically off the ship but that's only for a few hours at a time so we were ok with that. It was $230 for two users and it worked really well. I think it's $180 for 1 user and if it was just hubby and I this is what we would have purchased but with teenage daughter with us we did the 2 users. I do understand that this unlimited wifi option is not available on every ship yet so you can check the forums as you get closer to yours. If you would like an update as your trip gets closer just ask and I will be happy to answer any questions that I can.

    Cheers

  9. We just did this on our oasis sailing March 15. We used a carry on suitcase and put just the water in it. We left the water in all of its packaging and did not check the carry on. When we checked in they sent us over to baggage inspection where the person took the water out and shook it to make sure it wasn't alcohol. She then put it back in the carry on and sent us on our way. We brought 4 six packs of water. Hope this helps.

  10. Yes you can share it will only allow one person to log on at a time. There is also the option to have unlimited for two devices for $229.00 which is what I am using right now typing this from the Oasis. We have used this package for our family of five and it has worked very well for the week. Although I would love to not need any Internet for the week being self employed means I need to be available to the office in case of emergencies as well as other issues.

  11. I will call tomorrow and see what they have to say. We booked a September 2014 cruise when we were onboard in September 2013 so I am not sure how this will affect our diamond on board booking bonus and such. It is still worth a shot to see what they say as we are in a grand suite and would be looking at the larger on board credit. Thanks for the info.

  12. I have stayed in the CLS and SLS many times on Oasis and have gotten up to the 17th floor and found the fire doors closed on embarkation. If you find this and since you are suite guests simply head to the concierge lounge and I am sure they would be happy to hold the dresses there for an hour or you can wait there and enjoy a drink until your suite opens up. They could also be the ones that could get ahold of housekeeping for you so that you could get the dresses into your suite if the fire doors are closed.

Congrats on your wedding and have a great cruise.

  13. We were in a Crown Loft last week on Oasis and when we got to our room our suite attendant came and introduced himself right away and gave us some info about our room and such. We were traveling with another couple who were in a different suite and we do enjoy meeting in 1 room for breakfast on the balcony so we asked if there was any way to get a table and 4 chairs on our balcony and that same night they had pushed our loungers to each side of the balcony so that they were still usable and put a table and the 4 chairs in the middle. It was perfect.

On a side note on the closets there is plenty of room and if you run out of hangers in the upstairs closet then you have a whole second closet full of them to borrow from.

There is definately 2 thermostat controls and they work great. It is an absolutely fantastic room you will love it.

    Enjoy!
