That is probably the furthest out win ever reported here.

I know I couldn't believe it. We had 3 balcony cabins booked. Me (Diamond+) and one of my sisters (Diamond) got RoyalUp offers  and my other sister (Gold) didn't get one.

My very low offer was accepted on day 74 but my sisters is still pending although we bid the same. Is C&A status in the mix perhaps??

It does look like the ship is very full so maybe they wanted to fill some suites early so they could sell more of the less expensive rooms more easily?

  2. Well I'm rather surprised what happened to me today for my sailing on Anthem of the Seas on Sept 23rd! I had a Balcony with Large Veranda booked.

Yesterday (75 days before sailing) I got the RoyalUp email with categories ranging from Jnr Suite with all categories if suite up to Sky Loft. I placed more aggressive bids for Grand Suite 1 Bedroom and Grand Suite 1 Bedroom with Large balcony as I would be delighted with anything in Sky Class. I also placed just above minimum bids for Jnr, Grand 2 bedroom, Owners and Sky Loft just for the hell of it.

Today 74 days out I noticed all my bids had changed to "expired" except the Owners Suite. A few minutes later I got the "Congratulations you have been upgraded" email.

I'm shocked that I got the upgrade so quickly!!!

Thanks so much for that - it was so difficult trying to get Royal Caribbean to confirm anything over here!

  4. I believe the as per the deck plans, the suites are getting the Solarium, the most Fwd pool, where the cascading pools are. Access controlled, you do have to tap your SeaPass to enter. Other guests get the indoor pool, behind the Fwd lift lobby. This is the one with the retractable roofs.

The Suite Enclave is called the Royal Villa at Sea, as per RCL China website. The Golden Balcony is indeed what you just mentioned, a standard balcony room with Golden Privileges. But I still went ahead booking it for the two Singapore sailings back to back, hopefully it will be good!

Hi Venn - is there any other info on the Chinese website re the perks of booking a Golden/Royal Villa at Sea room?

    Thanks!

    David

  5. Same here - we are booked in an Owners suite on the Barca to Dubai cruise - nobody at RCL can say exactly what it will include - they did mention a complimentary bottle of Evian in room and a fruit basket lol

This is what my TA was able to find out from RCL:

"I've spoken 2 agents and 1 supervisor in thelast 24 hours and no one seems to know much about the Spectrum of the Seas. Shewas built specifically for the Chinese market.. Gold categories are Grand Suiteand above(Grand Suite, Golden balcony,Owners Suite , Grand Loft and UltimateFamily Suite). If you book one of the Quantum Club Suitesyou are Gold. The Gold includes 24 hour info hotline, priority specialtyrestaurant and spa reservations,24 hour coffee club, concierge, complimentaryevening cocktail service. In your suite a welcome fruit basket, welcome bottleof Evian water, luxury bathroom amenities, souvenir, clothes pressing onceper person"

I asked her what they meant by "Quantum Club" suites but she didn't know - perhaps that's what they might call the exclusive suite area?

Hopefully they are still working on the exact perks as currently it doesn't sound much more than Sea class on the rest of the fleet

  6. Anyone knows what is up with the Golden Balcony room? Booked a back to back with my family, 2 golden balcony, 13164 and 13172 and one on Oceanview on the other sailing. Not sure what exact privileges I receive, RCL did not mention anything about the Golden Suite Program on their website.

  7. Just pay a couple of hundred dollars extra to get the unlimited specialty dining package - then all your main meals are great for a relatively small additional cost - we always do that on the Oasis class ships. Or if you want the true VIP experience book Star Class which we have on our next trip. Dividing our AquaTheatre suite out between 5 of us worked out at only $3500 each for a week on Symphony - still probably cheaper than a standard room on Crystal.

  8. Hi everyone

Please bear with me, have never done a review before but wanted to share some of our experience with you. I need to work out how to load the photos so any tips please let me know!

    Background

There were 6 of us on this trip all from the UK - myself, husband and our 12 year old son together with our friends with their 17 year old daughter. We have all cruised with Royal before - this sailing made us to Diamond (whoop) but we have only been on Freedom and Voyager class ships before. Booked this last October while on Navigator.

About 3 weeks before sail we received the star class survey - not really sure if this made a big difference as 2 weeks before sail we received an email from our genie asking pretty much the same questions. Our genie was Marla.

We flew into Barcelona 2 days before, wanting to de-stress and miss the Easter traffic chaos. I booked us all in the Hilton Diagonal Mar hotel (booked just before Christmas) and got a great deal in a panoramic suite with breakfast and dinner. Did a lot of research into taxi companies and booked one that did all the journeys so everything was set and we were ready to go...

Bear with me, just sorting photos...

    Hi there,

We are fellow Brits sailing on Symphony in September in 10734 - would be very interested to see any pics you have of the room and the balcony - the balcony looks much smaller on the deck plans than other Aqua theatre suites so would be good to see it for real! We are also coincidentally staying in the Hilton Diagonal Mar for 2 nights before the cruise - perhaps you could send me the details of the taxi company you used?

Cant get any of your pic links to work unfortunately - maybe its my work wifi though :-)

  9. Dear SS and Stumblefoot

Thank you for your kind words. I in fact compose off line, and then "copy and paste" to CC. From bitter experience, having lost a whole posting which disappeared into the ether, my option seems to be the safest! However Wi-Fi has been quite good since leaving Kobe.

As for the cherry blossom, this really is a hit and miss affair, like predicting the daily weather forecast. It had finished when I arrived in Kobe, although there are still remnants.

All for now - surprise lifeboat drill!!

    Kindest regards

    Master Echo

Cherry blossoms arrived earlier than normal this year due to unseasonably warm weather. I was lucky enough to view them at their peak in early April in the Oaska/Kobe/Hiroshima areas but by the time I got to Tokyo a couple of weeks ago they had all but gone - as ME says timing it just right does involve a lot of luck!

  10. Thank you Master Echo and mainsd for the comments and photos. Your input is much appreciated as we will board Silver Shadow in January for the first time.

mainsd I will have to be careful they don't accidentally deliver too many of those waffles or pancakes to me :D. They look delicious.

    Julie

Indeed - they are marvellous as are the pancakes :-D

  11. Pleased to hear you were first to board Master Echo. Im not sure how our good friend will like having 2 permanently formal restaurants - it will be a bot strange having only a small number of formally dressed cruisers each night rather than the entire ship.

Is it the normal la terrazza for night 1 or did you break from tradition?

How is your suite and veranda?

    Happy sailing

    David xx
