  1. I consider myself a fairly experienced cruiser, but it doesn't occur to me that I have to reserve the shows in advance - yes, I know I have to do it once I get on the ship. But for our upcoming Harmony 7 nt trip, all the shows are sold out. Seriously? Can we show up and expect to get a spot or are we actually SOL? And what if we want to see the Aquashow, which isn't on the app? When did cruising get so complicated?

  3. Having sailed in the last year on Odyssey, Wonder, Freedom and Oasis I was a little worried about sailing on Liberty, where I had FOUR cruises planned. We did the first one two weeks ago and it was wonderful! Sure, there aren't sinks waiting for you in the Windjammer (but the Washy Washy girl was phenomenal), and I kind of missed Playmakers, but enjoyed the extra casino room... the screen by the pool doesn't work, but there are more hot tubs than there are on Freedom. All in all, it was a wonderful cruise and I'm looking forward to being on her again this weekend, and twice more in the next month! A weekend on a cruise sure beats a weekend at home!

  4. So I somehow have my next FOUR short cruises booked on Liberty of the Seas - which I kind of figured was like Freedom, but it doesn't have Playmakers. If I get the UDP, is there anywhere other than Johnny Rockets to have lunch on a three night cruise, where one day you're in Nassau and the next in Coco Cay? Usually do these short cruises on Freedom out of Miami, but I live so much closer to FLL so I'm trying Liberty.

  5. ALWAYS. Living in S. Florida and doing our best with shorter cruises that work with our work schedules, we've been to Nassau, Cozumel, Coco Cay, etc. dozens of times. Our experience is the ship - being entertained, fed, taken care of... maybe one day when we go somewhere other than the Caribbean the ports will be important, but for now, just being on a ship is more than reward enough.

  6. I gotta say that as one of those Floridians the three night works for me - I take off a half day on Friday afternoon, and show up for work about an hour late on Monday. (Yes, I live and work that close to the ports). I would guess that it's easily 75% Florida on these cruises, and there are quite a bit of partiers because, hey, it's the weekend. But it's nothing like a Carnival cruise.

Look, with all we have to put up with living in Florida (hurricanes, crazy prices, 11 months of summer), quick and easy cruising is a perk.

  7. We were just on Odyssey last week, with the UDP. As soon as we got on we went to make dinner reservations and Wonderland was completely booked for the entire week. We got on the wait list but never got called. It was annoying because that was the primary reason we got the UDP on this trip. BUT, it was totally totally worth it. We did Chops twice, Tepanyaki twice, Giovanni's once, and Izumi once for dinner, besides a bunch of lunches. Don't miss the cheese soup at the Crown Pub - it is fantastic!

  8. So much easier to embark out of Miami. Did Port Canaveral last month and it was so much longer/more difficult/cumbersome than Miami which is usually a straight walk onboard. Usually 10 minutes from elevator to ship 🙂

Other than that, if you are going at Spring Break, you'll have spring breakers and families with lots of kids from either embarkation. Embrace the crazy!

  9. Just off Freedom this morning. We had to keep the masks on in the shows and while walking indoors or waiting in line. There was actually a little more policing than when I was on two weeks ago, staff asking people to please raise their masks to cover their nose. People were still smoking and drinking in the casino - but had to keep their mask on if they weren't actively doing so. Everyone seemed to self regulate on the elevators and if there were more than a handful of people they would wait for the next one. On deck everyone still went maskless for the most part. Certainly not enough discomfort to make me reconsider cruising!
