  1. Thank you for the quick reply. We will keep an eye on the weather. It does look like two or three days of rain coming up. This will be our second Budapest to Amsterdam river cruise on Uniworld. The first with friends that have never cruised before. We are hoping for the best conditions.

    Thanks again, Bill:cool:(y):wine-glass::champagne-toast:

We just got off an Ama River cruise / Budapest to Vilshofen on 9/14.

We had no problems. There was an Avalon cruise that started in Budapest with us and they had to disembark in Vilshofen and finish their last 7 day leg to Amsterdam as a bus tour.

  2. Just off my AmaPrimaCerto Cruise Nuremberg to Budapest (Aug 11-18). We did the ship swap - no biggie at all, and our cruise manager Nick was THE BEST! Came up with different shore excursions on the fly, and minimal disruption to passengers.

I would be ok with a ship swap if it meant we could go on with most of the same itinerary.

Did you know in advance of getting on the ship? We sail out of Budapest on the Ama Viola on 9/7

  3. Drove along the Danube this morning, from Passau to Vilshofen, it's looking good. Didn't see one shingle bank, as one see further up stream.

Even if things remain as there are, there may be shallow water around Budapest, bu it should be plain sailing from Vienna to Vilshofen.

    Have a good trip.

Thanks for the update. Of course Vienna is 3 days in. We will make the absolute best of it. Vacation is better than work.

  4. We are booked on the AmaViola on Sept 7th from Budapest to Vilshofen. Cautiously optimistic that we will be minimally impacted based on what i’ve read in this thread.

We are in Berlin, Prague and Budspest for a week pre-cruise. If plans change with Ama we will have to turn it into an all land vacation as we spend 3 nights in Iceland post cruise.

Thoughts with everyone that is having their vacations impacted.

  5. I'm recently back from the AMA Viola Melodies of the Danube. I do have all the daily programs. The file is too large to post to this thread, but if anyone wants to see them, I'd be happy to email them to you. Barbara

    Hi Barbara,

We are on the Ama Viola Sept 7 Budapest to Vilshofen and would love the daily programs.

    Can you please send to

    mcullen1 at partners dot org.

How was the cruise? We are so looking forward to our first river cruise. We have done 20 ocean cruises and love them!

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Best,

    Michele

  6. I was able to load a cruise on my Ipad using the AMA Cruiser app. The only cruise so far that was in the system seemed to be the AMA Viola leaving Budapest on March 23. Since this is a learning experience I've been looking at the cruise on the app each day. Its a pretty cool app. You can share it with family and friends. You can download your Daily brochure that shows the activities. There is a map which shows your location. You can share any pictures you take with your Ipad or telephone with your family or friends. The Daily brochures shows that there is a signature cocktail each day, and it gives you the times of the cocktail hour. I for one will use this app when we are on our river cruise in May.

Thanks for sharing. Definitely want to download the app as I’m curious about the daily info. We have booked our excursions - sailing on the AMA Viola in Sept from Budapest. First river cruise after 20 Ocean cruises. Really looking forward to it!

  7. There is one huge benefit of flying Aer Lingus between the USA and Europe (either direction). Aer Lingus allows free stop-overs in Ireland! The last time we took advantage the maximum stop over time was 2 weeks (not sure of the current rule). You essentially are getting free transportation to Ireland which is a terrific place for a few days (or longer) either pre or post cruise. Icelandic Air...also has a similar policy for those that fly that airline and want to spend some time in Iceland.

We are spending 3 nights in Iceland post an AmaWaterways Danube cruise in September. Love that Aer Lingus and Icelandair offer that perk.

  8. Very casual and if your on the expedition tiny cabins. As people have said off ship all day with excursions and very relaxed atmosphere, bring a hat for during the days as the sun is hot. The bees are also attracted to bright colors so go muted.

We stayed at the JW pre/post on the ten day package and that was casual as well.

Trip of a lifetime / although we plan on going back. Enjoy all the Galapagos has to offer. So beautiful.

  9. We sailed in a corner FV on the Summit on a repo from PR to Bayonne in 2014. Fabulous amount of room for 2 people. Snagged it just around the same time as final payment. We didn’t pay extra, but we had originally been booked in an AQ cabin.

  10. Considering upgrading to a suite and would like to know if complimentary specialty coffees are offered in Michael’s?

We sailed in a SS on the Infinity last March and specialty Teas are available in Michaels, and they had Nespresso coffee. I’m pretty sure specialty coffee was also available. You can get juices, water, sodas and drinks. If you don’t have a beverage package you will be all set.

  11. While I disagree that Aqua is overrated and Blu is not that good, you made the right decision. Outside of a really nice suite this is the best cabin on the ship!

You can always sail Aqua another time.

    Have a blast!

I agree with you on Blu. Also on the S class ships the Persian Garden is a great spot for relaxing. On the M class ships not so much.

Our last 4 cruises have been in AQ and we love the smaller atmosphere in Blu vs the main dining room. It's a personal preference.

Agree she made a great choice to change to FV.

  12. Hi all, does anyone have information on motor coach transportation from Cape Liberty to Massachusetts post cruise? We used a company a few years ago post repositioning cruise, but am having trouble finding anything for the 8/28 Summit cruise. We would prefer not to drive, although it could be an option.

Does anyone know how much parking is in the terminal lot and if vehicles are safe?

    Thx -
