You did not read the post correctly. The passenger won the clip accessory which had a value of $10. The ship actually was being generous in giving the passenger the option to choose any other accessory and just pay the difference.

On my last cruise I won the clip accessory and when I happen to pass by the Ocean Navigators they saw me via my medallion and handed me the prize, they did not offer me to select any other accessory and pay the difference.

It is kind of silly that they did not offer an upgraded accessory. Most passengers playing the game will be on the Premier package and already have the Medallion holder as part of the package. Who needs two?

It isn't just a clip-on accessory you can get with Premier. There are other options 🙂

I have not been offered any other ‘options’ for the included accessory that comes as part of the Premier pkg. when I have ordered the Medallion in the APP, you can order any accessory at additional fee, but what has been included at no additional fee as part of the Premier pkg is the exclusive colored ‘clip on’ and is automatically added at a zero cost to your order.

Are you offered more options in the UK?

I won the Medallion accessory on my November cruise. When I went to the desk to get it, I was told I could choose any of the offerings and pay the difference from the $10 prize cost. I chose a watch band for $12, so had a $2 charge added to my account.

Just remember the check-in agents are not Princess employees. While they have rules for what documentation is required, sometimes they get it confused.

We checked in with the private lounge offsite, so I think they were Princess employees. He called the ship multiple times with our questions, and for other guests who wanted to book Sanctuary and such, so should have received the correct info. The guest services manager told me later that she had not been at the desk when the calls came from him, so he did receive incorrect info from the ship.

doesn't Premier come with like 4 devices pp? Why would you need to purchase separate internet for another person?

You are right! The offer we booked under as pay for Plus and get Premier, so all my paperwork showed the Plus benefits. I didn't remember about the internet, so paid $90 for something we didn't need. Oh, well. A mistake I won't make in the future.

Oh, also, very important, when taking a minor friend along, Princess requires everyone to have passports. BC & ID will not work in this instance.

I know this is the policy for Princess, but they don't follow it. We cruised last June and by the time I was made aware of this requirement after final payment, it was too late for the friend to get a passport. So we were prepared to be denied boarding with just the BC and ID, but had no problems. What caused a problem once on the ship was lack of the authorization letter from the parents! We had it; kept asking about it at check-in and being told nothing further was required. Then once in our cabin, the head of Guest Services found us and said she would need it. So the parents took photos and messaged me, which I then emailed to Guest Services manager.

The mother did tell me they are going to start now to get passports for the cruise this summer.

  6. OP here. Thank you all for the replies. That is the section I had found on the website.

I took the other teen with us last June, so know about having the form filled out by the parents and having ID.

Sounds like this should be possible to book the way I want, but if not, once we change cabins on board we would show in the "correct" cabins to then purchase the Plus for the adults only.

Last summer when we cruised, my son and I had the Premiem package (as a free upgrade offer) and I just bought additional internet for the friend and paid the daily grats.

  7. I feel like this has been answered but could not find the answer in a search. What is the minimum age for someone to be booked into a cabin without an adult with them?

I am planning a cruise with a new boyfriend and my teenage son (16yo) plus another 16yo. Will end up with the kids in one cabin and us in another, and I know I can book one adult and one teen in each cabin and switch once on-board. However, I would prefer to not have to purchase the Plus package for all 4 of us, since the kids won't get the full benefit of the package.

I found on the Princess website where it states family groups with multiple cabins have to be 16yo, but when I called was told 21yo minimum. I am going to try calling later this week to see if I get the same answer.

I guess the other question would be if I book us all standard, then switch once on the ship and add the Plus package to my cabin, would it go to me and my son, or me and the boyfriend? As in, do they actually move the passenger in the system, or just rekey the medallion?

Thanks for any insight you may have.

  8. We were invited in June. I was cruising with my teen son and his girlfriend, and driving down from Orlando with her parents. They were allowed to park their vehicle in the garage and hang out with us until we boarded the van.

The concierge did have our Medallions for us, and we were escorted by a staff member from the reception office through the crowds at the port and up to the ship. The concierge was also in contact with Ship Guest Services about questions I had about requirements for sailing with the non- family member. It was very calm and relaxed, and would have been even easier if just family sailing.

    @flutprop

were you able to take your cruise as planned ? Just curious on the passport issue.

Yes, we were able to sail. They didn't even question the lack of a passport. Her BC was enough. Goes to show the rule is not well known to any Princess staff.

We also asked about a parental consent form and the ship said no need, but when we were in our cabin after boarding the Director of Guest Services came and asked for one. So a bit of miscommunication there. The parents has a copy and we're able to text a photo of it and their DL and ship was happy.

    We had a great trip.

This may sound kind of strange.  Assuming the parents reside in the same congressional district,  I suggest they contact Mark Desaulnier's office.   They claim they can help expedite passport requests.

They moved to Florida last summer. So no longer in his district.

The parents will be driving all of us down to FLL from Orlando. I can't imagine forcing my son to sail without the GF if she is turned away. He would not be good company for the week.

You have probably seen this current thread, but if not you might want to share it with her parents:

Thanks, yes, I saw that. I did a search to see what recent posts there were on the subject. That person seems to only live a few hours south of DC from their profile. If the parents could get an appointment in Miami office, or even better, something in Orlando, it would be do-able. Flying to get a passport is unlikely to happen.

I know a passport can be put on a rush if proof of travel is provided.  Have you tried this?

They have. They were told they could only get an appointment for Hawaii. They live in Florida. So both parents and the girl would have to fly to Hawaii for an appointment. Not going to happen.  14 days prior to sailing is Saturday, so going to try calling then. I don't know the parents work schedules and whether they all have a weekday off to do this.

The kids may end up staying home and I get a vacation alone. Time will tell.

  13. I am traveling with my 15yo son and his 15yo girlfriend in June. We booked the (closed-loop) Princess cruise to the Caribbean about a week prior to final payment. My son and I have passports, but his girlfriend does not. I had told the mother that she would only need her original birth certificate, which they had.  When I signed into the Medallion app to complete all the documentation in April, I got a pop-up that because there was only one adult with multiple minors, all passengers would be required to have passports.

I understand the reasoning for this. The family has been trying to get a passport and was told it would take a few months. The most recent conversation they had with the passport processing center was they could get an appointment for a same day passport, but it could be at any location in the US. The current appointment offered was Hawaii!

So both parents will be coming to check in with me with only the birth certificate and hope she can get on the ship. I really hope the kids will not be disappointed.  Does anyone have any experience with this?

Seeing that you are fully mobile, definitely consider BART.  You will have to transfer once at the Daly City Station, I think that’s where it is, and then roll into the Embarcadero station.  Once there, you can either just catch the muni bus there.  You will want the one that goes down the Embarcadero.  A agent will be there to help you.  Or, take the exit to the Embarcadero and walk the opposite direction from the Bay Bridge along the water front.  It’s only a mile walk.

From SFO, all BART trains go into to the city and through the Embarcadero station. Once you get through baggage claim, follow signs for the air train which loops through all the terminals and to car rental, including a stop at BART. So easy, as has been mentioned.

I wish the OP would call Princess and get a answer than wait 15 minutes and ask again.

When you call Princess you don't always get the correct answer. I am cruising with my 15yo and his girlfriend this summer. I had told the Mom she would not need a passport because it was closed loop. When I signed into the Medallion app, I got the above notification about passport requirement because I am the only adult. My PVP told me to call a specific number to get info about requirements, and they told me it was not required because closed-loop. So obviously incorrect info from them. And the PVP had no idea of requirements

Based only upon recent experience and a bit of "connect the dots" logic, PVPs are inside sales people who are given access to "self-service" cruisers, those of us who have become comfortable booking through the web site on our own, and their goal is to conduct email blasts and phone calls to get these unassociated cruisers to book more cruises.  Unassociated you say?  Yes.  Meaning cruisers that book direct and do not use a travel agent.

If you use a travel agent to book cruises, you are terra non grata and become the "property" of the travel agent you book with, so if you have a TA you won't hear from PVPs and will not have one assigned to you.

Now, if your most recent cruise was booked through a TA and you are getting promotional contacts, either via email or phone calls, from PVPs, I'd love to know, because the moment that I moved my most recent booking from Princess direct to a TA the emails and phone calls from PVPs dried up.

We started getting phone calls from a PVP back in 2015 or 2016, after we booked a cruise through a "regular" storefront agent. I never really dealt with her, and booked our cruises through different outlets: Big box Membership store, direct online and through an online TA at two different agencies. Our PVP continued to call a few times per year, and send emails. It wasn't until end of Feb 2023 that I actually booked with her for a June 2023 sailing, and haven't felt she has been all that helpful. I wanted a specific cabin type that wasn't showing available for 3 passengers. It was just quicker to contact the PVP than deal with either TA we used before

@KittyCruiser I have direct experience with this issue and multi-generational and multi-family cruises.  We had Club Class dining a few cruises back and were sailing with our in-laws.  We had a suite and they had a nearby balcony cabin.  They were not on the list for CC dining and they would not seat them.  The couple of nights we all dined together we just did MDR and one night we did specialty dining.  Lucky for us my in-laws were not attached to our hips through the cruise and they preferred to have dinner much earlier than my wife and I; especially on port days, they were quite tired when we all got back to the ship.  So they had an early bird dinner in the buffet on some nights and we then used our CC dining benefit.  They had already settled in for the night by the time we were headed to dinner.  This is one of those topics that I warn people about when I have their ear.  If you are planning a family cruise and there will be multiple cabins, and say you book Club Class or Reserve Collection and others in your travel party have regular cabins, you'll find that you don't dine CC much if you all want to have dinner together at night, or you will have to go dine CC on your own and let everyone else fend for themselves.

Because some people think their situation is special and should be an exception. On a cruise a few years ago a suite passenger brought their daughter who was in a balcony to Sabatini’s breakfast one morning and the host quickly and quietly let know not to do it again

A few years back on the Caribbean Princess for a B2B and we were allowed to have my sister join us in Club Class for dinner one evening.  She had booked a balcony cabin with a friend while we were in a full suite (Grand Suite).  I think we were granted this special request once because we had booked the Grand Suite.  The Club Class maître de' had to get special permission from the Head Chef for just the one instance.  It was a HUGE thrill for my sister.

In 2019 I did a family cruise with 18 total of us. My family (3 of us) were in the Grand Suite on the Star. Every night we ate dinner with family in the regular dining room. Most mornings, my teen did not join us for Sabatini breakfast.

One morning, I brought my 90yo father (who was in an inside with a grandson)  to breakfast with me as my husband was sleeping in and Dad was awake. No problems bringing him in with me. I don't think he ordered much more than a coffee, but they would have served him anything.

I would never consider bringing anyone else into CC dining room or Sabatinis Suite breakfast, but just showing that exceptions can be made. I am sure the fact that it was not a daily thing, and that Dad was really old helped.

All of those suite amenities were done away with BEFORE the pandemic (2019).  Elite and upgraded suite items are still given out (without the gold bag).  Q-tips are by request. Floral arrangements have been replaced by an orchid plant. No more fruit bowl (by request), no chocolate strawberries/pillow chocolates, after dinner mints).  No stationary (Hotel Manager said no one wanted them any more/I do).  No canvas Princess bag but given blue bag.  No sewing kits. No postcards.  No playing cards (long gone).

We are in a suite on CB this week. We received a fruit bowl and chocolate covered strawberries the first night
