If the cruise line cancels a cruise I believe you get all your money back, including NRD. If I am wrong, I hope someone will correct me. Celebrity is even refunding their cruise insurance back on cruises they cancelled.

We were just told yesterday that Any booking with a NRD will not receive the deposit monies back. I waited over 40 minutes to speak to a resolution specialist and had the same answer given to me. I was furious with this answer. We have 34 Celebrity cruises in our history and have never cancelled a cruise before. We understand NON Refundable, but does the management there understand Corona Virus and the implication on peoples lives it has created. Anyway we ended up choosing a cruise so far out in 2021 so as not to loose our deposit. My $200.deposit will just sit there for another year. Meanwhile we still have a few cruises next year also, that I'm not certain we have any desire to go on. JMHO

Rich Thank you for the report.  Thanks be to God that the Rotterdam and Zaandam got through the Panama Canal and are now headed to Ft. Lauderdale.  I hope Port Everglades and the Big Wheels in FT. Lauderdale show some class and let both ships dock.

So basically you aren't interested in listening to your UK and European customers who have no intention of a long haul flight for a seven day cruise.

We couldn't agree more with you. Someone at Celebrity should do a study on all of us (in the states too) that  sailed back on the Connie than the Eclipse for years doing the14 nights. We strongly feel X makes more money doing 9-11 night sailings knowing they can sell the drinks package and other "perks"(what a joke") over and over. The idea of dollar bidding for a higher cabin is also a farce!!

The constant ads for jewelry, jewelry, and more jewelry are a colossal waste of paper!  If you are a shopper, you will regularly stroll by the shops - have the stores put ONE sign out advertising their specials, or even ONE MORE sign outside the Oceanview Café, where most people pass by.  If you are not a shopper you will never miss the can't miss sales.

Don't print 2,000 (or however many cabins there are) of every special sale every day!  See how much paper you save then!  I bet it's enough to bring back the newspapers....

    Well said!!!!

So may places now ask people not to wear strong perfume or lotions.  The Bulgari body lotion reminds me of the old commercial where the boss arrives two minutes after his shaving lotion...  So often we are sitting in the theater when a strong perfume forces us to get up and leave.  What smells like roses to some smells like rotting garbage to others.

Why do you feel it's important to take the Joy out of a wonderful memory of others ? Be kind!

,I always use the auto tips and add extra for those who give special service. I known that in some venues, like Blu the extra tips are pooled. Tipping is highly individual and I do what feels right and comfortable for me. You should do what feels right and is comfortable to you.

Once again Orator we feel you have hit the nail on the head with your input!!  You are always very honest and up front. Tipping is and should be a personal decision as to what you are financially and consciously comfortable with but always keeping in mind all of those employees that work very hard behind the scenes. When we do b2b or longer cruises as we often do, our pre paid  tips can be $1,000.00 or more.(something to think about). IMHO those who reduce tips not eliminate  their tips, Sorry to CruiseStich  but I don't really think the "management" looks done at those passengers or black marks employees for not doing a good job . I believe they are well aware of other reasons.  Also, just IMHO another thing , I feel a lot of passengers feel  as I do that the $$ amount of pre-paid tips are a bit out of line. Where else do any of us pay tips in advance before any service??? Please no jumping down each others throats over this "discussion" Be kind, but  Perhaps the cruise line should give all employees a better salary and use tip envelopes again like they used to do. IMHO.

It's about three weeks until we step aboard our next cruise and understandably we're thinking a lot about what awaits. I realized that one of the things that immediately pops into my head is waking on board the first morning with my DH and enjoying together a lovely cup of coffee on our balcony with some decadent, buttery croissants and watching the ocean in the quiet of the early morning. That's when we really have unwound the hectic pace of daily life and are completely happy and relaxed. A close second to that is returning to our stateroom the first night on board after a busy embarkation day, dinner, show (maybe) with a glass of wine on the balcony watching the stars and listening to the whoosh of the ocean. What's yours?

The best part of our cruise is always being so happy that we booked another b2b, and it is most likely snowing back in New England. Most importantly just being blessed that we are healthy and  able to cruise as much as we do. As my husband always reminds me "Enjoy every minute as much as you can, this is not a dress rehearsal". wishing all safe travels !

  9. We booked Edge the day she was released for a 7 day Caribbean cruise. Took about 24 hours to come to my senses about the cost and swiftly cancelled. Will wait for the glow to wear off and the reviews to come in

  10. Agree!

Mistakes happen, we have occasionally had issues on cruises but try to give staff the opportunity to ‘put things right’. I can understand that on that evening the ambiance had flown but you missed the opportunity the next night to enjoy, your loss not theirs....

Very well said, I agree !

  11. It looks like the common thread for those posting here is that the bad experience was on the Reflection.

Worried from what I am reading here. We have sailed over 25 times on Celebrity, but never on Reflection. With the long 14 night Southern cruises no longer available on Eclipse, we are now booked on several 9-14 night trips this fall and winter on Reflection. We have had three different captains on Eclipse in the past couple of years but they have always been wonderful. We tend to enjoy Sue Denning much more than Eddie as CD.We always stay in a 2B cabin and have been Elite Plus for many years. We do find the entertainment is rather stale, but then again we have seen most shows several times

So, my question is specific to those who can compare Eclipse to Reflection.. what are the issues ,if any we should be aware of.

  12. We started cruising after I retired in 2010. Since then we have done 10 on Celebrity and 6 on NCL.

The one change in the past few years that we dislike is the price bundling, including drink packages, etc. that we don't want. This change has driven us to choose only repo or transatlantic cruises for Celebrity that don't price bundle.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Price bundling has been a issue for me, even after 25-30 cruises. I may be out of line sharing that it bugs me to no end being told the amount my daily tips will be charged to my account each day. Don't jump on me for saying this, but I like the old way better. And Yes,,,, I do always tip well.

  13. I found it VERY expensive

I.e. A Foot Rescue $123 for essentially a foot bath and file if hard skin (of which I don't have a huge amount) and then filed one of my feet so hard it bled.

I have used spas on other lines we have been on P@O, Princess HAL, MSC, and found there prices more reasonable.

    We also have Aqua cabins

I have found Canyon Ranch spa services to be Extremely over priced, and we are from an area with some beautiful spas. There is always a hard sales pitch of products during the visit to any Canyon Ranch .Just remember they are a private company, not part of Celebrity. I suggest you tell them in advance you don't want conversation during your visit. If you do go , try a service on a port day to save a few dollars.

  14. Hello Is there slot machine tournament the Equinox. I have seen dailies posted and did not see it listed. I may have missed it.

Also my wife wanted me to ask. Are the hair dryers on the ship ok, does she need to bring her own.

    Thank you[/quoteI

I have pretty short hair and travel several times a year on Celebrity and will suggest you bring your on. Holding that on/off switch in your hand is a pain.:)

  15. OK, thank you. I will certainly try this next time since getting 95% of OBC in 'real' chips (i.e.cash) is better than getting 100% in 'play-only' chips.

Forgive me please :o, but I just don't get how to do it .We will be doing a b2b on Eclipse with about $1,000 of OBC (all from the cruise line).I would love to get back some of it, if not all in cash for a deposit on future cruises even with a 5% loss. Could someone say it again slowly how to do this. again sorry to need it explained again.

    many thanks,

  16. Excuse me, but the vast majority of the "sommeliers" in the dining room are nothing more than wine servers. They know "red wine with beef, white wine with fish". They have no idea of where the Loire Valley, Napa Valley, or Finger Lakes are other than what the label states.

    Wow !!! that's pretty harsh !!!

  17. My Dec 10 Celebrity Eclipse cruise also replaced St. Maarten with St. Croix. I've written to my favorite day pass beach hotel, Sandcastle on the Beach, and asked if they are open.

We will be sailing with you Dec 10th. Would you let us know if you here back from Sandcastle. You should post on on the roll call web. thanks !!)

  19. Definitely a form of addiction.....Gets worse as time goes by...we have three booked at present and will get 'jittery' until we secure something for 2019...,

It does get worse as time goes by. It all started 41 cruises ago on the RCCL Song of America. .Wow:halo: we have five future cruises booked for 2018 and will be doing a few soon . We did drift from RCCL to Princess for awhile but have been with Celebrity for over 25. We are so sorry to see the 14 night sailings go away, there is nothing like them,2 sevens don't come close. We always joke that we are going to take a land vacation next. Happy cruising to all.
