We are going next June and I have already booked our flights. I have been keeping an eye on Alaska flights for months to see what the average price is so I had a number in my head of what I was looking for. I told myself if they go under XXX amount I will jump on it, or book 6 months out. Well we got lucky and the prices went down for like 2 days, so I booked them. Even if they go down even further, I feel better knowing I have tickets locked in and that I paid a reasonable price for them.

Thanks for your review. We are sailing on the Sun next summer and I am really debating getting the UDP. I appreciated reading your thoughts on the matter. I look forward to your review of the ports.

We are looking forward to our Alaska cruise because of the beauty we will see from the ship. We only have one excursion booked, which is to the Yukon. Other than that, I'm sure we will be quite content just walking around and not doing much. We haven't been yet, so I can't say for sure, but I think that the cruise itself will really be the highlight of the trip and not the ports.

Bookmarking this for later. Lots of great info here!

Thank you for sharing your review and especially your thoughts on the different lines. We sailed Carnival last time and loved the entertainment and I am afraid NCL will not live up to that. But my husband really likes the idea of freestyle so we are giving NCL a try.

Great review so far! I look forward to reading the rest of it!

I am enjoying your review so far. We are doing a northbound cruise next summer on the Sun so I would love to hear what you thought of the Sun in general.

I have enjoyed your review and have it bookmarked for future reference. Thank you for sharing your experience. It is definitely appreciated!

Following! I am enjoying your review.

Both great pictures, but that second one is incredible!

I love those sea lion pictures and your commentary. What a great experience that must of been! :)

You are not being unreasonable. I would have been really annoyed as well. If I am leaving my own kids at home so I can have an adult vacation, I certainly don't want to hang out with my friends kids. If they want to take a family cruise they can certainly book one on their own instead of tagging along on your couples trip.

The great thing about 3rd party insurance is that you can insure everything, not just the cruise, and you choose your level of coverage. It's also a lot cheaper than going directly through the cruise line. I'm pretty sure you can purchase it at any time prior to the trip, however it will only cover preexisting conditions if it's purchased within 21 days. USAA's travel insurance comes highly recommended. I will be using it myself for an upcoming cruise. The peace of mind is definitely worth it IMO.

I am really enjoying your review, especially the information about the train in Seattle. We were debating the train vs. the bus but now I think we'll go with the train and use the car service you mentioned. I really appreciate all the helpful information!

Nordstrom has some really nice one piece suits. They are bit pricey but so worth it IMO to have a suit that you can feel good in. I just bought this one and I love it. It holds everything in but it's still sexy.
I also love those halter suits from modcloth. There are tons of patterns to choose from and they are very flattering.

Do you remember the name of the tour operator you used in Juneau? How long was the tour and did you have enough time to really enjoy Mendahall Glacier and Alaskan Brewing Co? If you could elaborate on that I would be very interested as it sounds like something we may do when we're there.

Those dresses are beautiful! I especially love your wedding dress!
quite a long time ago, I promised to post a pic of my wedding gown (which I will be wearing to dinner after the ceremony on the first formal night.) I finally got it back today! I will also repost a pic of my gown for the second formal night. I know the photos are not great but you can get an idea of what they look like from these. -
Here are my dresses for the two formal nights. I can't wait to wear them!

You might want to do a quick search on http://cruisett.com/ports.php to see how many ships will be in port that day. :) At least you'll know how much competition there will be.
Good idea! I did that and it appears that ours is the only ship in port. :)

Thanks for all the reviews in this thread. I think renting a golf cart or jeep would be a great option for my husband and I. I will have to email Nathan as we get closer to our cruise date.

I love this idea! I could eat creme brûlée every night. I have been really debating on getting the UDP and this reason just might make me do it. ;)
