We've booked a post cruise day room at the Tahitian Pearl Resort through PG.
1) Any general thoughts about the resort?
2) How about the restaurant?
3) When does the PG bus pick you up from the resort for the ride to the airport?
4) There supposedly is a bus tour of Tahiti after you are picked up from the ship and before you are dropped at the resort. How long is it? What kinds of things do you see? We did this tour in 2011 and they took us to see a waterfall, a beach park area, and then to the museum home of author James Norman Hall. Informative but this time we are hoping to go straight to the resort after disembarking from the ship.
Thanks so much!
We will be there on the same schedule. In reviewing online info. the infinity pool looks lovely and there is a bar there. The black sand beach looks nice. We have not been there---in 2011 they used the Radisson.

Trying to decide between a couple of different options (actually there are many different options).
Has anyone been on this tour and if so your opinion?
Thanks!
Yes, we took this tour in the past and were very happy with the snorkeling locations and overall. I think it was in 2014.

Does anyone know if Holland America offers currency exchange on board (USD to Euro) on their Mediterranean cruises? I would assume they do (Princess did) but want to know whether we need to take more of one currency or another with us.

We will be on this ship for the May 17 cruise, which starts in Tahiti and ends in Fiji---air is one way each direction using Air Tahiti Nui and Fiji Airways (formerly Air Pacific).

We will be on the Tahiti – Fiji cruise in May, too. We know we can use CFP francs in French Polynesia, but can anyone advise us as to whether we should obtain (in advance of our trip) currencies for the Cook Islands (Aitutaki), Tonga, and Fiji? We will likely being using the ship excursions, so booking local tours aren't anticipated. Thanks in advance for your advice.
When we were in Aitutaki in June 2011 we brought New Zealand dollars because the private tour we took with "Teking" required local currency. If taking a ship tour you probably don't need any. I don't recall if there were any shops near the dock---but I don't remember any nearby.

I read that on Air Tahiti the carry-on luggage weight limit is 20 lbs. and on Fiji Airlines it is only 15 lbs. so that might not be big enough to avoid checking luggage.

Hi---We are booked on this cruise in May. We are leaning toward booking ship tours in Tonga and the two Fiji islands but were wondering what else there may be to do in those ports other than the ship's tours. Are there shops or vendors at the dock---anything else within walking distance if you remember.

My husband and I are also booked on the Tahiti to Figi cruise this May. We have been on the 11 night Fr. Polyn. and Cook Islands cruise in 2011 and really enjoyed it.

We did the one at Tahaa and the current was not strong that day but a friend of mine took it a couple years earlier and got rather scraped up. The passageway is very narrow and you could get pushed into the coral---it is also very shallow. The guide led us both ways and we went out and returned the same passageway. I don't recall if we were allowed fins or not.
