Obviously HAL are concerned that pax will go over their 15 drinks limit with HIA and are trying to protect both cruisers from the expense and the Front Desk staff from the abuse of those who have  inadvertently gone over the 15 limit. 😉

(is there a 'tongue firmly in cheek' emoji?)

We have seen an officer doing a "naughty talk" to passengers that were over the 15. But as they also count soft drinks and coffees this might happen to me, too. 🤪

  2. Hi, we have cruised HAL before the pandemic but never had this problem before.

Our itinerary was changed a few days after booking. It´s ok for us but now we do not see any excursions for several ports. As we have the HIA package we get two excursions for a discounted price and we would like to book some before they are sold out.

Has anyone an idea how much in advance they will show the excursions for the "new" ports.

It´s an northern europe cruise and now they added the Faroer Islands and Shetland Islands and another port on Iceland. All of them are lesser known and don´t offer a lot of independend excursions either.

The interior cabins on deck 10 don't have any windows.  Deck 11 - cabins 11057 and 11058 each have one window that looks out onto the track.

Thank you, sadly the cabins on deck 11 are not available. I saw a picture that looked like there was a window on deck 10, too. 🤷‍♀️

  4. We had 10043 on the Eurodam some years ago and this cabin was marked as an inside but actually had a window. It did not look out to the ocean but on the roof of the pool but at least we got some daylight. It was also convenient to walk out on the deck because there was a door next to the cabin.

We are now looking for 10053 on New Statendam. Similar location. Has anyone been in this cabin. Has this one a window, too?

Perhaps I worded it poorly. I just mean someone new to Celebrity might read reviews and comments that are " suite or stay home" or "once you suite you'll never go back"   and get the impression that Celebrity is crap if you're not in a suite.

I read a lot of MSC reviews that stress to  book the  "Yacht Club" or it sucks.. I've never sailed on that line, so I don't know the truth of it. But I do know that Celebrity is NOT that way.

We sailed on MSC YC due to a great deal. On MSC the gap between YC and regular is much bigger than on Celebrity, especially regarding food. Their pooldeck is crammed and loud so having the YC deck was a huge relief. For us it will only YC on MSC.

Was different in March as ships were about 1/2 full.  Every cruise is different and with the price match policy gone for cruises booked lately few cabins for MoveUp seem likely.  But you never know. The upgrade faity used to visit every few cruises.

Our cuise is max. half full, too. I counted more than 70 sky suites open, so it´s a fair chance to get one.

Finally the AquaClass bid has been accepted today. More than 3 weeks since the bids was locked out.

    Thank you for everyone comments.

Thank you for that information. Just what I was looking for. We have the same issue for our bid. Cannot change it for about a week but neither on credit card not on Celebrity app or webside our cabin has changed. So we keep hoping our (weak) bid was accepted.

  9. Actual we´ll be on the Edge in August, same itinerary. For us it was more about the ship, as Europeans we have been to most of the places before. So far we havn´t sailed an Edge Class ship (only S-class) and we are interested in that experience.

The infinity is a much older ship, maybe more intimate with less pax. Some prefer the smaller ships.

Beside of the ship I would prefer the greek islands, so beautiful. But I have to say I love nature and "old stones" more than bigger cities. But if you have never been to Barcelona and Rome they for sure are worth a visit.

So it is up to you and your preferences.

I can’t get the move up website to work and have sent FIVE emails to report the problem and they have yet to respond. Am I missing something here?

I tried Move Up, too and it didn’t work. No answer from Celebrity either. Looks like you need an invitation (e-mail). Then I called Celebrity and was able to upgrade for a small amount considering the perks (same I wanted to bid). Now we’ll cruise suite class for the first time 😁
Maybe you should just try and call them

  11. We´ll be on the premaiden cruise in November to Oslo. There is no drink package for us because our cruise will be only 4 days. If your cruise is shorter than 7 days same will be valid for you. But don´t worry. During meals you can get free soda, beer and house-wine and drinks are cheaper than on american cruiselines. There is also the option to prebook a card with a fix amount (like 50 € or 100 €) an use this for your drinks. I think there is 10 % or so off if you buy the card before you cruise. But please check on the AIDA website.

  12. We have cruised with Celebrity three times in the last six years, always Aqua Class . We loved it. People have dressed up more 2012, there were gala nights and most women were wearing long dresses or really gowns, men often tuxedo. Blu was not different regardless whats on their page. Now it is far more casual but on our last cruise in 2015 I have still not seen jeans in Blu for dinner. Might be even more casual now. Most women wore either a summer dress or nice pants (chinos, dressy pants, capris) and nice tops, often with a little glitz. I personally will bring a cocktail dress for the evening chic night and my dh will bring a suit. In my personal opinion it´s just nice if people stick to a dress code all over the ship at a special night because thats part of the atmosphere. But you can definitely wear whats on your list.

  13. Thank you for your report. We have sailed the Reflection through the easters mediterranean sea and loved it. soon we´ll board the Eclipse for a circle aroung great britain. Looking forward to this cruise, too. Your suite looked great but we just don´t need that much space. The jacuzzi at the balcony was tempting though, especially in warm climate. Thanks again, I had a great time following.:)

  14. Thanks for sharing your experiences. So far we only booked guarantees with other cruise lines and had to wait until about two weeks before boarding. Never knew that Celebrity is known for assigning cabins that early. The cabin we got is fine for us (better is always possible) but let’s see if the upgrade fairy 🧚*♀️ will offer us another upgrade (like one poster experienced). 😉

  15. It amazes me that some people accept that corporate drivel like mothers milk to the point where they are regurgitating it.

This is all about pricing what the market will support-by geography. Sure, there are some local conditions that may cause slight differences but nothing more. This was certainly the case for the multinational firm that I worked for. That is, until the Internet and our customers forced us to have standard world wide pricing. Customers are a great deal more savvy these days.

  16. We have cruised in Aqua previously and enjoyed the Blu Restaurant. I think suites have the Luminae but this is almost the only difference beside of Michaels Club, a venue I never visited before it became a lounge only for suite passengers. So don´t worry. Once you´re onboard nobody will ask if you have an inside or a suite.

  17. Hi fellow cruisers, we just booked an X (Guarantee Balcony) on Celebrity Eclipse and right after paying the deposit we got our cabin assignment. More than 150 days in advance! My sister also booked a guarantee (XC) and also immediatly got her assignment. Never heard about specifying a guarantee that early. I can only guess that this particular cruise is almost sold out but maybe someone has a different explanation. I´m not complaining, I´m fine with what I´ll get (2B) but just curious about this fact.

  18. Hi tuffydog,

we won´t be on this particular cruise but we´ll try "Mein Schiff" for the first time in November, too. We are Germans but since we have cruised mostly with american cruiselines before, we love CC and met a lot of nice people at the M&M onboard (also from Australia :) ) .

I don´t live in the north of Germany so I won´t be able to tell you much about Bremen or Bremerhaven but if you have questions about Germany or "Mein Schiff" feel free to ask. I will do my best to answer

TUI is not well represented on CC, I found you thread looking for our cruise. There is a german forum called pooldeck24 which provides a lot of information about "Mein Schiff". Maybe you want to post there, there even might be a roll call for your cruise.

Hope you will enjoy your cruise and Germany! I hope to be able to visit Australia once, too.

  19. We once had a front facing cabin and absolutely loved it. But its a fact that it has more motion than midship cabins. If you ar not prone to seasickness its fine. We liked the motion and it gavecus the feeling of being on a ship! Usually the view is great.

  20. Cabin 6001

    Azamara Journey

    March 2016

    Deluxe Veranda

    Front facing cabin

Balcony a bit larger, open to the sky, gorgeous view!

Would book it again, yes, but not for a TA

Some noice during docking and in the afternoon from the stage below but not an issue

More movement due to the location, especially when sea is rough

Cabin attendants service trolley by the door during the day

We booked a guarantee veranda und got this cabin assigned. After reading some very negative review we were really worried about the location but we actually liked it very much! The view from the balcony is amazing, especially when you come into port or at night. Wind usually was not much of a problem even on seadays it seldom comes directly from the front so you will find a more sheltered corner. A little breezy was nice at higher temperatures.

The noice during docking was less than we expected, usually we are up anyway to watch the process, we found it interesting. The workers try to avoid to look up to you and if you sit you have privacy.

In the afternoon you might here some music from the stage. For us neither a problem.

There is more movement in the front, thats a fact. If you are prone to seasickness this is not the cabin for you. We had some days with a little rocky sea but we actually felt like a baby in a crib and enjoyed the movement.

Other than the location this cabin is the same size and interior as a standard veranda and there is nothing special. I won´t pay a premium for this cabin but take it in a heatbeat if I get it for a good price and if I sail in calmer, probably not for a TA crossing.

The new decor is nice but it looked like they had not enough time, f.e. wallpapers need to be fixed in the seams and TV wasn´t hanging straight. Bathroom is very small but was ok for us.

  21. We have recently been on the Journey in stateroom 6001 and loved it! So everyone may feel different. I usually found a not windy spot even on this smaller balcony. And the view is gorgeous, especially coming into port or at night. We had some rough sea but we liked the movement and did not get seasick. Nobody bothered if we had the curtains open or closed at night (kept it close most of the time anyway). When you come into port there is some noise due to anchor chains or ropes lowered but this was normally the time we were already awake or wanted to rise. We liked watching the docking. You may also hear some bass when they practice for the show but not very loud and no vibration. Maybe we are less sensitive. Nothing to bother us, if we were in the stateroom at this time of the day it was for showering or changing. Not sure if I would book this cabin for a TA but definitely in the caribbean or on a cruise to Norway (fjords) or the Panama canal. The view made us feel like being on a yacht. The suite has a bigger balcony so it will be more easy to find a non windy spot most of the times. It is also not directly above the show lounge. I personally would go for it but everyone is dofferent.
