  1. Our first Celebrity cruise was 20 years ago, we were in our early 30s, and the only one of our children we brought along was the youngest, who was a fetus.  We linked up with a Cruise Critic group ahead of time and most of the people we hung out with were 50s-70s, the biggest group onboard was a Parkinsons support group, mostly 60s-80s.  We had a wonderful time, even though there were very few other passengers in our age demographic.  Our cruise was October, and there were only a few children onboard.

  2. If she could have, I think my mom would have taken Andriy from Ukraine home with her after our Liberty cruise. Not as a waiter, but as our new little brother. He did a great job with our table in general, but also with my niece, who wasn't keen on sitting at the table for long -- and not only in the MDR, but in the Windjammer for breakfast, too. He'd find us and keep her busy.

  3. 71 days until our Liberty of the Seas cruise. It's hard to believe that it's finally here. Date of reservation was 22 April 2008. A year before the itinerary was even posted, and over 2 1/2 years before the cruise. We were supposed to go on Freedom last December and postponed. We have snuck in something to tide us over, but happy that the big one is finally here. Taking everyone in a suite, it might be 18 mo or so before we cruise again.

  4. Honestly, my experience has been that smokers are very courteous and observant of the rules. Unless I have chosen to go to a smoking venue, like the pub, I don't see or smell smoke.

This has been my experience, too. Most smokers on the cruises I have been on have been very courteous about smoking in the designated areas, and I don't have a difficult time as a smoke-sensitive person avoiding those areas.

  5. Our basic guideline for our tweens is to think about what they're doing, and if it's something that they wouldn't do if we were supervising (we have stricter standards of behavior than most people), then DON'T do it. We're fine with giving them some freedom to roam (buddy system required), but the minute they are observed by one of the adults in our party, by a staff member, or by another adult on the ship acting UNsupervised, they WILL be CLOSELY supervised for the rest of the week.

My parents used similar guidelines with us, and we've used them with our children before, and they've been pretty effective since the expectations for behavior have been pretty consistent since day 1.
