  1. Love the longer cruises but depends on what you like.  Have now done several TA 27-30 days and plan to do more.  Like others, fly to your favorite city near the port several days early to visit, get on the ship (we love sea days) to the destination and then spend more time there.

  2. Having been to several Chef’s Tables (and having a SIL as an executive chef), the Chefs Table is a Culinary experience. Each contributing chef to the table creates one of his/her specialty dishes to the meal so the menu is different on each ship.  The flavors and presentation cannot be compared to a normal dish (I.e. I do not like lamb....except how it was prepared on my last Chefs Table). GO.  Enjoy.  Prepare to have an amazing evening. 👍❤️❤️❤️

  3. DH, daughter and myself are booked on the November 2018 Venice to Ft. Lauderdale and are so looking forward to experiencing the Pacific Princess. After reading the posts, I am even more excited!!! We just had the most incredible journey a few weeks ago sailing from Ft. Lauderdale and on to the British Isles on the Royal and loved it all.... even the bumps don't stop us as its just all in a day's travel and the journey overall is what we cherish... but, we truly are looking to experience the intimacy of the Princess!

  4. I have not heard good things about Effy. But the cruise line sells other name brand watches. If you have the credit to burn why not a watch. One that comes to mind is Citizen. A very good brand. There are many other name brands on board.

I bought a man’s Citizen watch some ten years ago and it is excellent. Wear it everyday. One thing that I really like is that it is a unique style and not available in retail shops in California. Overpay? Not sure but I was/am happy with my purchase.

  5. This might be a silly question, but need some guidance. My DH and I will be on upcoming Royal TA and away from home for 35 days... I checked the spa services and did not see that acrylic fills were offered. Any suggestions or how do you handled getting a fill in when away this long? Thanks in advance...

  6. Thank you all for the posts - I have literally been lol! Getting ready for our 27 days TA on the Royal Princess... and thinking about dislikes:

    - any form of liver

    - caviar (so dislike that crunch and salty taste)

    - beets (I have so tried but just isn't happening)

    - salmon (love all types of fish and sushi but it is a childhood thing - we live in so. California and have eaten seafood all our lives, fresh tasty treats! but mom butchered salmon cakes and ruined it for life....)

    Keep up the entertainment! :)

Thank you with much gratitude for your reports! We appreciate your efforts and respect your knowledge. We too love your city and have been planning our upcoming trip (last port on our Westerdam cruise) and will spend 4 days! Barcelona is one of my most favorite cities - we would not stay away and actually stay on Las Ramblas.... and yes we will honor those that lost their lives or were injured in this tragedy!... thank you again.

  8. This is a great thread as we will be in Marseille in a couple of weeks on our 12 day cruise on the Westerdam... this is the last port that I have not made a decision about what to do - after researching the options and reading lots we make our plans to either go it ourselves and enjoy the day or book an excursion. We have used and been very pleased with our Viator bookings and am looking at one that will leave from Marseille and include Aix and Cassis... my question is that it leaves from 'their office in Marseille' and I don't know how easily it is to grab a taxi or to walk... anyone aware or advice??

    thanks!!!

  9. Our hearts and prayers are with the incredible people in Barcelona... we are saddened by this hate-filled tragedy. Barcelona is one of our most favorite places on earth with the culture, people and the overall feeling of living!... we will be there in a little over three weeks from now sailing in on the Westerdam... we are determined to not allow hate to stop the joy of travel experiences ...

  10. Our hearts are so saddened by this once again horrific news... Barcelona is one of our most favorite places to visit and explore - we will be there in about 4 weeks cruising in on the Westerdam!! and we will be staying right on Las Ramblas. Our joy was to share this with our daughter as she has heard us speak so much about it and all of our favorite sites there... we are determined however to not allow this hate-filled event deter us from traveling and doing all of the activities we love!
