Well at least you didn’t have to worry about how much you were going to tip.
I think its a little odd to post about it a year after the fact. Are you considering another Haven cruise and just wondering if your experience is the norm? If that’s the reason I can say that I think your situation is more of an outlier to the norm. Only one way to find out though! 😉
We are by no means rich and this cruise was to celebrate my Mom's 70th birthday so we splurged. Probably wouldn't do the Haven again but definitely suites. Once you do the suite life, hard to go back. 😉- 1

I want to clarify a few things. I guess I'm not "mad" especially since it's been a little less than a year since it happened but more curious as to why we never met him/her. I'm one of those ones that get on cruise critic message boards A TON when I have a cruise planned and then disappear if I don't have one up and coming. I had a memory come up in my Facebook feed which reminded me of the no show butler, so figured I would come on and post this. With having stayed in suites 4-5 times before and ALWAYS having met our butler the first day and then see him throughout the cruise, it was just weird that we never did. Honestly and this may make some mad, we didn't even tip him/her. NOW, our concierge was AWESOME and we ended up tipping her $150. She did a TON for us.
We didn't need the butler, never ordered room service, so like some said, "What's the big deal?" Again, to me, it was just weird to have never met him/her and wondered if anyone else had those experiences. Thanks for the reply's.

This post is probably long over due since it was last year this happened, but still kind of mad about it.
We stayed in the Haven for the first time. We've stayed in suites before, but first time in the Haven, on the Breakaway. 7 day cruise in the Caribbean and never saw our butler. We've always met our butler the first day and then see them regularly during the cruise. Seriously I don't even know what our butler looked like. The concierge was GREAT. The bartenders in the Haven, GREAT. The staff at the restaurant, GREAT. Butler a total NO SHOW. Anyone else ever experience anything like this? For the amount of money we paid for the Haven, you would think the butler service would be better than a suite. Nope not for us. We did always get afternoon treats, so I know he or she was showing up but still.

Awesome! Please tell Stefan (butler), Cielo (Haven dining room maitre d'), and Bowen (Haven concierge) "hello" from Jason and Andrew. Really great team in the Haven!
Will do, Thanks for the review btw.

We'll be in the Haven this weekend on the Breakaway. Can't wait. We've stayed in suites before, but never stayed in the Haven.

During embarkation, the escort will bring Haven guests to the Haven lounge and the concierge or assistant will give a brief blah blah blah about the Haven, the facilities, etc. Depending on the ship, different info/benefits will be explained. Nothing mandatory, though.
Thank you.

The staff quickly knows who is a Haven guest and who is not. That's one of the reasons for the "briefing" in the Haven lounge on embarkation day.
We will be staying in the Haven for the first time a week from tomorrow. Haven't heard about this "briefing." What does it entail?

Thanks again everyone.

Harvest Caye surly, it is NCL's private island which is all about the beach time.
Thank you!

We are sailing on the Breakaway in two weeks.(A little less actually WOO HOO) It's the Western Caribbean with stops at Cozumel, Belize City, Harvest Caye and Costa Maya. Is there one stop where the beaches are nicer than the others? I know we are kind of behind the 8 ball with planning excursions, but wanted to find out which stop we probably don't want to plan an excursion at and go to the beach because they are nicer at that port. Thanks as always with any suggestions.

Say you win the upgrade and your bid was $600. Is that ALL you will pay or are there taxes, service fees, any other fees....etc? Just curious.
Thanks

Your 1250 bid is tad low but if only 2 of u its totally unnecessary to have an H4. I'd higher my bids in other areas to assure haven rather then Have 2 people in a H4. It was huge (for ship standards) and prob unneeded for 2. 900 for H7 and H9. I bet you get if there is a lot of rooms left for your ship sail date. 900 per for a Spa room..I think that's really good..very good actually. I bet you get spa room for that if a lot left.
Thank you. We'll see what happens and I WILL BE BACK to post and let people know.

I had 5 I could bid on. The H4 2 bedroom was a minimum bid of $1000. I bid $1250. I also bid on the H5, H6, H7 and H9 which all had a minimum bid of $500 and bid on $900 each.(These are all pp bids, so I guess it would be double that if we win)
*fingers crossed*

I'm also referring to people from 1.5 years ago. I've been reading and responding with wins and or bids and such for 1.5 years. We need to stick together to take down the big companies ....hahahaha 😉 I agree w u 1000% for those that just won but what about the ones that one 4 months ago. Spoke and sought assistance and then took off after never responding to then help the next individual, the way so many have helped them. Just saying. I wish you all great luck as the Haven is amazing !! I'm hoping to win again.. Just me and the wife this time so now H2 s or H4s. I'm seeking H7 and H9 I think. Haven Spa or Haven Courtyard Penthouse.. fingers crossed
So, would you be able to answer my question from above, whether a $900 PP bid is a decent bid for the Haven upgrade? Thanks.

Can I ask anyone that has followed this thread a question.
We are in a balcony, got the upgrade email. There were four different Haven rooms that the starting bid started at $500. We bid $900 on each one. Does history say that this bid has a good chance of winning or not? It was in the "fair" range and the most you could bid was $2000.
Thanks for any help or info on experiences.

Thanks everyone. We will be booking it today.

First off, I love you guys. Been posting and MOSTLY reading on these boards for YEARS. The information is so helpful. So here's my question in the shortest form I can do..........
My mom turns 70 this year. My two brothers and I decided we would pay to take her on a cruse with just the 4 of us. We all are married and have kids, but decided it would be just us and our mom which we haven't had happen in 30 years or so. That's the scenario. We talked and decided on booking a Caribbean cruse next month on the Breakaway that leaves on the 10th. So, here's my question. We told her about it tonight and she was in tears, so happy. Since we have a date that is this close, do we just book the rooms now(the next day or so) at the price currently listed or do we wait a week or two for a potential price drop.
I don't know if the prices drop significantly with only a few weeks to go or if it matters. It seems like at this point there are still plenty of balconies left so maybe they do.
Thanks for any help. Love you guys.

That's CRAZY you and your family have found so many messages in bottles. I've never found any. Curious how many other people have found them, although not wanting to hijack your thread. Good luck in your search.

Just another quick question. Is the 1 app, 1 salad, 1 entree, 2 sides, 1 dessert ONLY in the specialty restaurants with the dining package OR is that standard even in the MDR's? I assume it's only in the specialty restaurants.
-
I can't imagine wanting 2 apps, salad/soup, entree, and dessert. That's a lot of food! And trust me, I am not a light eater.
I think the plan with us is for me to order two apps, say the pork belly(YUM) and the oysters and my wife order the crab cakes. Then we would split the three between the two of is. So, it's almost like eating 1 1/2 a piece. It's more to try different things, than stuffing our face. :halo:

Two. Woo hoo!

We also tipped our cabin steward pretty good because we did see him a lot and he always addressed us by name.
