You may want to ensure that you are covered for emergency evacuation by your companies insurance.
Good point. That’s truly the one area I wasn’t 100% sure of my coverage.
Can you buy insurance that is only for emergency evacuation if all else I need is covered ?

Entertainment
The comedians are usually good but the shows need a lot of work
Hold comedy shows in the Main theater so more people could join without having to show up 45 minutes before the show (cause of the over crowding )

I agree with those stating insure my trip dot com. They have a lot of good information on their website to help you make an informed decision based on your particular needs.
For example, do you need health coverage while you're out of the country? My health insurance covers me out of the country but most policies don't. If yours doesn't you'd want to consider buying health coverage. There are a lot of considerations to think about based on your situation. Do you want "cancel for any reason" coverage or not? Those are just examples of reasons to consider what you want to insure for on your cruise. Having options is a lot more helpful than buying blanket coverage that may or may not apply to your situation.
Excellent points. We just went through the same argument and decided not to take any supplemental insurance as my company health insurance would cover me out of country and we were sure we wouldn’t need to cancel for any reason.
Also I’m finding that Carnival offered insurance has gone up quite a bit since we cruised last about 3 years ago

I really think they should use the main theater for comedy shows (they seem to pack the house), I know that will be an unpopular idea though.
100% agree for all ships. We were on this cruise and never made it to the comedy shows as it was always packed and you had to get there way before the start of the show (no thanks)

I used to be a hater but never tried it until a recent cruise.
Result is I’m still a hater because :
- forced myself to drink more than usual to break even
- used it to buy soft drinks and they were only like $2.50 a piece
- drank a lot of the sweet frozen drinks which filled me up fast
- saw many who were drunk by mid afternoon (not a big fan)
I definitely will never do that again

That is odd given the independent tour company we booked through is accepting US currency

Unbelievable on the nerve that this has struck that it could have been the propulsion system, and how some have made it their personal mission in life to try to persuade us all otherwise. Makes you think if ........

I do appreciate the conviction of your beliefs based on what you witnessed (or were told) while on the cruise. Things are not always as they seem however and when expert input contradicts what is perceived, I have to go with the experts. No offense intended, I apologize if you were. My comment was probably uncalled for.
Apology accepted. I guess I don’t believe everything that is written and don’t believe that person to be an expert and hence choose to believe that it was based on propulsion system based on the large number of rooms that said they had no A/C.
I don’t know why so many people are taking offense to a different view. You can believe what you want, that’s OK with me. I will continue my conviction. Just respect that and let’s move on

Do you happen to know Jack?? No...I didn't think so!
Wow. Harmful. Where is this coming from ?

Give up Chief. You cannot have a rational, reasonable discussion with someone that does not want to listen and learn.
Again , I know what I know so I believe what I believe. I know by personal experience, not what people chose to write as their own opinions.
There is no doubt in my mind, and many others, that the A/C issues were a result of propulsion issues. Seems pretty common sense to me AS I WAS THERE.
Either way it makes no difference. Wondering why everyone stresses so much about people’s comments that don’t match theirs. Personal attacks are not welcome here

Yeah, I understand. I know brain surgery because I've watched it on TV several times.
Well congratulations . You must do very well at that . It’s quite an accomplishment .

Went back and read some of your earlier posts, and I don't think even John Heald would say that the ship was turning hot tubs on and off in an effort to "save energy" due to a propulsion problem. Let's look at this: Magic has power generating capacity of 75,600 kw. A hot tub draws 2-3 kw, and say there are 8 of them onboard, this is a total draw for the hot tubs is 24 kw, or about 0.03% of capacity, so shutting these on and off would surely be beneficial in keeping the propulsion (about 44,000 kw at max power) going as fast as possible. Even if two diesel generators were down, instead of a propulsion motor problem, that would still be 46,000 kw, so those hot tubs would still be a significant savings.
I know what I know

Read cheng's dissertation on the topic and then you can apologize for running off about things you neither know nor understand.
I know what I know Mr Heald.
Signed: someone that’s actually been on the ship when all this was happening

It's quite possible one of your "it's MY vacation" self-entitled neighbors pinned their balcony door open wreaking havoc on a/c in all the surrounding rooms.
Probably not. I’m guessing it’s related to engine problems. Nice try though

Recently we had 11am flight out of Orlando and decided to carry off even though we had zone 1 (worried that our zone may not be called on time ). By the time we got to the luggage area they were already at zone 8 so we didn’t need to carry off. It was a hassle getting into elevators and escalators

If in doubt, slip $20 to your room steward and your requests will be fulfilled

We did customize our tour at basically the same rate shown on their page. They are very flexible to design something that works for you.
You can mention that you want the same tour as the group of 27 people had on Wed June 20th
We paid $40 pp (excluding tip) since we were such a big group. Might be a little more for a group of 6.
They may also have an in with the Blue Jack Tar beach location so not sure if you’d get the same with a taxi

As far as the walkaround on the older class ships, isn't that found on deck 5 of the the Dream and Vista class?
On older ships, there was an outdoor deck that didn’t go around the ship but had a nice view of the water and was covered . It was nice to sit on a lounger in the shade, watch the water, read, sleep, whatever.
On newer ships, deck 5 goes around the ship but is not covered, no loungers and has tables and the bbq place. Also they seem to have an open deck on level 4 but only accessible by the crew.

was the ship noticeably slow on sea days?
Simple answer from those that have cruises a lot is to me, we were going considerably slower than normal on sea days. If I equated this to car speed , it seemed like we were moving at about 10 miles per hour. No real waves coming off the side of the ship

Just off the Magic and they had many sports competitions like basketball, soccer, dodgeball.
Seemed to be well participated by passengers. Unfortunately when you get adult males involved , it’s like they’re playing the World Cup and very aggressive plays ensues. Boys will be boys

What is the 1 thing you would like to see Carnival improve?
in Carnival Cruise Lines
Posted
This a fatal long term business mistake by Carnival. Instead of doing something more to cater to these future cruisers, they allow them to be bored and alienate them to the point that they have a negative experience and either don’t sail Carnival in future or don’t cruise at all
Yes they are likely there with parents that are the ones paying the bill for the trip. Yes you are making cutbacks and why spend money on a group of people that are there for free.
But they are potential future customers that Carnival is ignoring.
