  1. Great way to do your review Mike ! I"m in some of your pictures . We had such a great time on this cruise also ! We are thinking about sneaking another Miracle cruise in Jan. They have some really great deals to be had then ! Mike when our boy"s were young we always drove to FLA. from NJ !! In 21 hours !! This was the first time we haven been on a cruise with our son"s .They go with there friends now ! They are doing the Splendor next July with there friends for my youngest son"s 21st birthday ! Looking at your pictures with your kids was great ..Most times we never saw ours on our cruises ! It was great that your daughter spent alot of time with you and your wife ! We saw alot of family with 2 kids and my wife missed very much not having them with us this time !! Anyway great review thanks again ! And after Hurricane Sandy in witch we lost power for 6 day"s we just got hit with a half foot of snow last night !!

  2. Hi SueseaQ you will love HAL .And your right i like going to both places .Al tho when we did the Doric and Homeric of 1986 .the ships stayed all 3 and one half days in Ham.

Hi you are going to like the Caribbean Princes .Are you going from Brooklyn ? We have been on the Grand Princess and Crown Princess .The Crown was an 9 day cruise out of Brooklyn .I still like Princess but they are not as good as they use to be .

  3. Hi we did back to back cruises on Regency cruise"s back in Feb. 1990 President week. first cruise was on the Sea Then Star out of Montego bay .Still one of the best deals we ever got with non stop air out of Newark 2 cruses 14 day in all .Both in outside cabins The price for everything was $1900 for both of us .But the main reason why we remember the cruise most was 9 mouths after we got home we had our first child !! So you could really say the Regent Sea was our Love boat!! Now our 2 boy"s 17 & 18 have been on 22 cruise"s with us .We been on 70 cruises .Our next BTB cruises will be on the New Carnival Dream ,and RCCI"s new Oasis of the seas in March .I found Regency to be a great budget cruise line .All there ships were on the old side .But i love them being an ocean liner lover !! I remember the food being very good .Today those ships would consider very small ships .Regency just got big to fast .

  4. Hi SueseaQ The Veendam is our favorite ship .And they just upgraded her .I"m not liking how she looks on the outside .But they did a great job on the inside .I think she"s the best ship doing Bermuda next year .She go"s to both St George and Ham. Like the Doric use to do .The other big ships have to go out to kings W. .HAL is i think a great cruise like because it"s like cruises use to be .A little more dressy .Alot lest people on there ships .The food is very good .The best Lido cafe at sea .It"s even better them Home lines use to be .It"s not a hurry up kind of cruise like RCCI & Carnival are .More layed back .A perfect ship for Bermuda ! You"ll have a great time .Good size cabins .

IT"S GOOD TO BE ON A WELL RUN SHIP

  5. Hi love this BB .One ? our first ever cruise was on the Oceanic the week of July 4th 1981 to Bermuda and Nassau. It was the first of our 70 cruises .I"m 52 and the wife is 50.Home lines had the best dinning room food and service by far ! And the Oceanic had the best Disco we ever been to on any cruise ship hands down .I"m kind of thinking that because it was a NY crowd !We never left the Disco until closing time ,remember the pizza late night in the disco .We just love that ship .We cruised on her 2 times and we cruised on the Star Ship Oceanic 2 times with our 2 boy"s .And still had a great time .We like it better then Disney cruise line in witch we did 2 times also .We also cruised on the Doric the same year as our first Oceanic cruise in 81 .And the Atlantic and Homeric. also .We love the Home lines .But at the end it wasn"t the same cruise line .Things change. It was hard for then to keep up with the big guy"s .And the Atlantic and Homeric just didn"t replace the Oceanic . Ok dose anybody here remember rick Spath ? Dan Gable was the cruise director on the oceanic on our first Oceanic cruise .Rick was his As.CD .Well we cruised with him many times on other cruise line .Sitmar HAL and Disney was the last time we saw him back in 1999 on the Disney Magic .

I saw the Peace boat Oceanic at the piers in NYC last Friday. She"s still looks good but showing her age .I also went over to see her in dry dock in Bayonne NY .I was sitting there watching her being repaired with a tear in my eye .It will be 28 years ago this Saturday the 4th of July that we did our first ever cruise on her .I don"t think she"s has lone to go before the reality of the scrap yard comes .I also think this may be the last time she comes to NYC her old Home Port ! I"m not sure if the Cost Guard will let her back in the US waters again .And that she a steam ship dosen"t help .

Long live the Oceanic and Home lines .You will never be forgotten .

    SUN WAY CRUISES

  6. She was out first cruise on RCCI back in feb 1986 . Very small cabins !! But i like the ship alot . I remember my aunt who use to cruise alot back in 1970 . She was doing a 10 day cruise from NYC on the New Amsterdam of 1939 a great ship un to herself to the Caribbean, and docked next to the then brand new Song of Norway .!! She said she saw this ship in St Thomass call the Song of Norway WOW what a ship !! Remember this was the first new ship build for cruising since the Oceanic came on line in 1965 .At the time RCCI ships were like no others .

  7. Boy it's so great to see so menny people who remember the Home Lines Our first cruise was on the beloved Oceanic !! Dose anybody remember the pool area with the mats you use to lay on . They were no lido cafe's .meals were had in the main dinning room . And you had to get dress up every night for dinner !! Who remembers waiting on the staircass for the doors to open for dinner ? We cruised on the Oceanic & Doric & Atlandic . And Homeric . The cruise we did on the Homeric was her 5th cruise on juty 4th 1986 liberty weekend with all the tall ships .Who remembers that weekend . The Homeric was part of the peraid of ships going out !! we have never stoped cruising since our first cruise on the Oceanic 60 cruises and booked on the Crown princess for a 9 day cruise out of NYC next july .

    LONG LIVE THE HOME LINES
