The deck plan you linked. 6169 is bright orange which according to the legend is E2.  E3 are a pale orange/pink

Well, thanks for the input everyone.  I didn't expect this thread to turn into a discussion about how the Celebrity website is showing different content based on device or area of the world.  As an IT web developer I can understand that content can become out of sync by out dated content caching either on a user's browser or the syndication servers around the world.

On the Celebrity web site, I looked at all four Edge class ships and 3 out of 4 show this cabin as an E3.  The Edge shows it as jalayne has included above.  Thanks jalayne for sharing the screen shot.

I have confirmed the TA's website has this cabin as an E3, which should get them to agree with this issue out of the gate. Fingers crossed.  This is what I get for trying to go cheap.

Absent actually being able to see the "booking information" and/or knowing the "understanding", I'd withhold judgement---except to say E3 would be marginally less expensive than E2.  "Better" is somewhat subjective.

I'll admit the error, I used the wrong term "better".  I should have said "higher".

    >>>>>>>

Cabin Assignment: You are currently booked in a guarantee cabin. This means that the cruise line guarantees you will be berthed in at least the cabin category you purchased or higher.

    >>>>>>>

    E2 is a 'higher' category than E3.

Digging into this further, 6169 is above The Club, which is host to the late night DJ dance club.  If I have an opportunity to correct this error by Celebrity, it's likely the new cabin will not be above a late night bass booming public space.

  3. We took the guarantee gamble.  We don't normally book guarantee reservations, but we decided to role the dice on this adventure.

The TA offer was an E2-Infinite Veranda GTY.  It's spelled out that way on the TA's booking information and the understanding is we will be assigned a cabin category of E2 or better - Infinite Veranda.  Well, last night I noticed in the app that the cabin has been assigned and it is 6169.  This is an E3 category.  The question for the group, is an E3 a better category than an E2?  I say No!  I will be calling the TA next week.

  4. Thanks from us as well, Ken.  This is the big week for us.  We board with 9 family members (we hope) next Saturday.  All first timers on Celebrity (except our 3rd on Reflection).  I have been watching these sailings for over a month and your two weeks have been a great REFLECTION 😊 on what's to come!

Safe travels home and I look forward to your next LIVE.

As we’re relaxing on the balcony looking for dolphins, whales, birds or pretty much anything that resembles wildlife, we periodically notice what looks like a “trail” in an otherwise mild rippling seascape. Any idea what creates them? We thought they may be created by some form of watercraft or ship, but there are none in the area.

If you look close at this picture, you can see it, but there are others in the area as well.

I like that you ask these questions.  While sitting out on the balcony I have seen exactly what you are pointing out and wondered the same.  So my imagination runs wild.  It has to be something below the water or above.  Could it be a shallow reef just beneath the surface?  I think not or there would be another instance of what caused a tear in the Costa Concordia.  What I have come with is that it is related to wind.  I'm not an expert, as I understand, the small ripples you see on the water are mainly caused by wind.  Well when there is a change in wind speed/direction for a period, could it cause this effect?  And could whatever caused that affect occurred hours before and this is the residual effect? That is my guess.  Again, not an expert here.

  6. I'm curious if anyone has ever transferred OBC from your own booking to another booking.  Basically I would like to transfer about $100 OBC to another family member on a different booking.  We are all on the same sailing, but their OBC is less and would like to surprise them with some extra OBC.  I was thinking that if this can be done, I would do it at Guest Services once onboard.  But as I think about it more, it may not be allowed, especially if it is non-refundable OBC.

    TIA

  7. Celebrity ships have the iLounge, which is a partnership with Apple.  The area has Apple computers for use.  The computers are typically used by guests for quick internet access (email, web browsing, etc).  I'm not sure if video based conferencing is available.  They do not have laptops to rent or borrow, so you need to go to the iLounge to use computers.   They typically will also have a printer available.  The other nice thing about the iLounge is there is an attendant on hand to answer questions and assist.  And if you have an Apple product (iPhone, laptop, etc.) they can help you get it connected up to the wifi.  I suppose they can help with non-Apple devices as well.

Regarding the muster, we received an email that said “Begin via the app in the terminal and complete once on board.”

Do this before checking in or after?

    Thank you,

    Kelly

You don't need to 'begin in the terminal'.  Just download the app, then perform the steps on the Safety tab (watch the video on how to put on a life jacket, then listen to how the emergency horn sounds).  You can do this part from home.   Then once you are on board, you complete the process by visiting your muster station before the time that it says in the app to report in.  The attendant at the muster station will mark you off then you are complete.  Easy peasy.

  9. I can only imagine the logistics on the ship side when guests get upgraded and notified while boarding.  Sorry to hear you are having to run around.  But it sounds like you were upgraded to a balcony.  I hope it's in an acceptable location.  I totally understand the reasoning.

I look forward to your reports.  Enjoy the cruise!

I'd be interested in the number of guests onboard once you are underway.

Also, what you wind up doing in the changed ports, other than Nassau.  I think this itinerary includes Belize and Roatan.

We will be boarding in four weeks.  Currently the sailing still shows Jamaica and GC, but I expect a change, possibly to Roatan and Belize.

    Thank you,

     Tom

I do have a question for anyone who has sailed on the Edge on either the Aug 7, Aug 14 and/or Aug 21 sailings that were (are) in an Infinite Balcony. With the heat and humidity like it has been throughout August in the Caribbean, have you been able to cruise much with your window open?

I know for me on my SS balcony, my DW only allows me to keep the sliding door cracked about 4” max so I can get internet access on the balcony. Any more, since the AC shuts down if our door is not closed completely, and our cabin starts heating up big time. I was just wondering, and probably others do to, how that works if you want to sit on your “porch” with the window open in your Infinite Balcony cabin?

Update: Wow! I just closed my balcony door as a test and I’ve still got 2 out of 3 bars out on the balcony and I was able to post this update. I just scored big with my DW who loves her AC! Yes! That wasn’t the case 2 days ago. Maybe that extra 1 mbps today is making the difference. Who knows, who cares! 😎

I get your concern with IV's.  That is why I was thrilled to discover a sunset veranda become available and was able to grab it.  We are on next week and looking forward to the ship, but the IV was going to be interesting for an AC lover and balcony lover.  Finding the SV was huge for this trip.

    Thanks for the updates.

My doctor gave me permission and a phone number to schedule- my husband's provider said no (both UW Health), go to Walgreens, CVS....so, I don't want to just get mine and have him waiting on the PCR. Might still be making a trip to Waukesha (I am presuming that's the one you are talking about). But I have bought two cars in Waukesha...so what's a COVID test 😉 except timing. I can see working only 1/2 day on Wednesday just because I will be running around getting tests done.

You called it... No testing at UW Health unless you have symptoms.

Yes. Our pharmacy said that the code is only good for 72 hours so I plan on registering for it on Tuesday. As another backup my doctor gave approval (they got back to me after the pharmacy) so I plan on calling the clinic I go to and get an appointment there too. They use the spit in a tube antigen test.

I'll have to check with UW Health clinic about a test alternative.   Would be easier than driving to Milwaukee for an antigen test at a CVS.  That was helpful info.  Thanks WiscFan.

I have already booked my COVID test for our Oct. 2, 2021 cruise. How'd I do this? I live in a pretty small town and called my locally owned pharmacy (not Walgreen's) when I saw the sign yesterday. I took the 12:15 PM first slot (as the lab guy can pick it up at anytime in the afternoon). I then put a bring up on my calendar to register the day before with the county health department, which will give me a code to have the test done. My pharmacy told me DON'T WAIT to get the code, as their slots had been filling up. So, you may want to check if your local pharmacy is offering COVID tests and what do they recommend you do if you have some time. One perk of living in a small town. I am a bit worried that we don't get the test results back before Saturday morning, but then we punt and try and find a rapid-antigen place in Miami. Crossing my fingers having the first slot available will make a big difference.

We are also in Wisconsin and will be following the same process as you describe.  The pharmacist said the tests are picked up between 2-4pm.  Over 90% of PCR tests are resulted the next morning.  We will get swabbed at noon on Wednesday and if the results get held up the pharmacist suggested testing again on Thursday.  As a backup I can drive an hour to a CVS near MKE for an antigen test.  I feel pretty good about the process.  It's nice to work with a local small town pharmacy.  The pharmacist was super helpful.  One thing he mentioned is they have experienced if you get the code too early, it might be purged from the system before your test.  As I understand, that code is used to connect your WI Health Dept survey with your test results.  I don't think the survey asked for the testing date.  I don't think there is a way to tell if the code is purged.

We will be cruising at the end of Aug on the Celebrity Edge.

    Good luck.

The rapid result test (antigen) absolutely meets the requirement, as does the PCR. The only thing that is questionable is the IDNow, and that's Walgreens.

If that wasn't clear above, I wrote too much!

I agree with your comments.  I have a Walgreens a mile away that has two offerings, the rapid IDNow and PCR test.  No guarantee the PCR test results will be reported back in time.  The question is about the IDNow rapid test at Walgreens and whether it qualifies.  Too many questions, so I will be looking elsewhere.  I have access to a CVS for a rapid Antigen test, but it is 90 miles away.  Will also be calling my local health department.

I like your comment that we should not need to know the difference and this is as frustrating as it gets.

  16. I fly from Wisconsin and here is my thought process when considering a flight on the day of...

Drive to Chicago (2.5 hours) and fly out of O'hare.

Only fly direct.  No connecting flights.

What time of year is it?  Jan-Mar could mean snow delay at the airport.  Don't chance it.

Book through Air2Sea to take advantage of their flight delay coverage.

Normally we will fly in the day before, but lately I have chanced it.

One huge advantage to flying in the day before is you get to decompress.  Travel days are stressful.  It's worth having extra time to get your mind and body in vacation mode.
